Hi guys, I am having a problem with the time interval in which the weather downloads and updates itself within FSX... In the settings within Active Sky Evolution, i select that i want the weather downloaded every 25 minutes, though the weather is updated every 10 to 15 minutes or so. Please help me as to how i can go about fixing this problem, thanks so much. Rob

Hello, in ASE and also in 2012 we can set maximum cloud layers up to 20. but how we can get these in FS9 or FSX? The maximum depict of cloud layers i´ve seen is 4? running tool "WEATHERSET2.EXE" from Pete Dawson are never showing more depicted cloud layers. also the visibility. ASE depict only 1 visibility layer always with maximum height set in graduation ceiling. why only one, and how to get more? hope for good answers and tips, Alti

I would like like some input from AS/REX users about the following: When flying FSX I usually go IFR in Alaska or the PNW. The FSX weather generator is adequate but the cloud textures defiantly need improvement, can anyone recommend the setup I need. It seems most people buy both REX and AS, REX for the textures and AS for the most accurate weather generator is this necessary? There seems to be a lot of info and screen shots for REX but less so for AS. My ideal set up would be the following: -The best real world weather generator -The best cloud textures for FSX -The best product(s) to complement IFR real world flying -The themed settings look nice but I w…

Greetings all, I noticed something the past few days while loading a flight plan on AS2012. Today I loaded SCEL-SAEZ (Santiago, Chile to Buenos Aires, Argentina). On the flight plan page I entered the 2 cities, cruise altitude (FL370), cruise speed (440), climb rate (2500) and des rate (2000). After the route was processed, I saw that the TAS had changed to 200 KTAS for all waypoints. Why would this happen? Many thanks, Ron

I've read all 95 pages of the AS2012 U/G and set up FSX accordingly. Although the U/G tells me how to do certain things, I'm not sure what results to expect. I can't readily find answers to the following questions. Some questions may be redundant. I'm still an AS2012 beginner. I'm not ready to try the in-depth options yet; my questions are about more basic things. For now I just want to see better looking skies. And I want to see them whether I define weather myself in FSX or I let AS2012 do it through DWC or Standard Depiction. I want to always see AS2012's enhanced textures. To do that, must I always start AS2012 and then FSX? Or were the default FSX textures re…

  8. For those struggling with suddenly unrealistic +15C temperatures at high altitude, I've been testing this problem for months and have something for others to try. I've not seen this problem except while using DWC, so if this is you, try setting the AS: WX Options: Dynamic Rate of Change slider in Active Sky to zero. This slider also moves the same feature in FSX: Display->Weather->"Rate at which weather changes over time." What this slider does is allow FS to internally morph whatever weather is loaded into it (whether it's the built-in weather themes, weather you created as custom yourself, weather saved with a flight, or downloaded weather.) The further to …

Hi All. Was wondering if anyone here would be interested in some WX files on some of the crazy weather, mostly from Gulf coast to Pacific (2 Hurricanes) using REX Textures w/ AS2012/ASE. Don't know if they would work using REX's weather engine (if file exists to load past weather) but using REX textures (Thunderstorm, or other recent user downloads) along w/ AS2012 produces some great fun (esp. the closest hurricane off Mexico) using the Orion Hurricane Hunter (what you're able to use of it being an FS04 with some work done to it to get it to work in FSX), but was able to get to the center where (and couldn't believe it) that an eye was produced. WX files are dated fro…

  11. Hi there! I am a 737 home cockpit builders! I've been thinking about what weather program you should have? I have REX Essential. But there are two things I do not like about it. 1) It takes too long to start the program and get the weather. 2) There is insufficient detail in the weather! I thought I would buy one of these two programs but do not know which one? (Active Sky 2012 vs Active Sky Evolution) Which program offers more advantages than the other? I lean against Active Sky Evolution? But what do you think? Is it any of the programs that have advantage over the other for me as cockpit builders?

I put out a ticket a couple of days ago asking for help, then I put the same info on the forum as well, and not 1 damn person from HIFI has even contacted me. All I need to know is how to transfer REX textures into ASE2012 please. Thats all. I tried to do it thru "Snapshot" but I was at a loss as too how to go about taking pictures and putting them into ASE. Someone out there knows how to do this. I would appreciate any help. Thank you. Ryan

  13. Guys, I need your recommendations with AS2012 settings. I've flown mainly VFR recently at PilotEdge (talk about enjoying ATC in VFR/IFR) in ZLA between KSNA and KONT. Even though the distance is rather short (about 30 miles) the weather conditions may be very different: usually rather cloudy at KSNA but clear above KONT. AS2012 with my current settings does not depict this phenomenon correctly. If it's cloudy or overcast at KSNA it is always the same above KONT. I understand I need to change my settings in AS2012. So, currently I have DWC selected, Create Additional Stations ticked, Dynamic Rate of Change at 0%. Suppression Options are inactive since DWC is selected. Any …

I noticed today that the 2 Sheffield airports (Sheffield-Doncaster and Sheffield City) are both in the North Sea on the ASE map. It would seem that they are both showing their position as aprox 1 degree E when it should be 1 degree W. Where does the ASE map get the co-ordinates for airports from?

Hello- I sent out in a ticket and no one seems to be answering....I updated my graphics card to install REX textures into ASE12, however after reading the manual, and some posts Im really having difficulty transfering the texture files from REX and make them into a "SNAPSHOT". I have tried to do this, but have been unsucessful. Any help out there would be appreciated. I am a Novice when it comes to the technical parts of taking Snapshots and moving files. Thank you. Ryan

Im using the beta version of AS2012, now we all know there is problems with depiction sometimes especially regarding OVC conditions, I have been noticing that even though the green bar keeps poping up telling me the weather has been updated the weather does not really seem to change or be accurate to the station I'm near, flying into CYYZ it was supposed to be OVC at around FL 160 and scattered around 8000 with light rain according to the reports and my rc4 atis, yet it was pretty clear even though the green bar poped up, so I decided to manually refresh the weather and the results were the best I have ever seen in my life :) Total Solid OVC @ 16000 Still the …

Your servers are down. Please indicate your aware of the problem. Obviously given the history of flight sim developers abandoning their products and servers, an indication that a fix is underway would be appreciated.
