If it is in the soon to be released AS2 version, I am curious about what the storm cell component resolution might be. I am thinking about displays that show the intensity gradient where you can determine where the wind shear might be so you don't get ripped up flying between cells. This might be too much to expect I realise, but I know this would be limited by the minimum weather area allowed by FS9. I noted some comments in the latest FSUIPC SDK about returning precip density in specific spots and I wondered how a radar model could show such "pinpointed" info, if at all. This is not a requirement for me to upgrade, but again I'm curious as even on a much more coarse rez …

I really hesitate to spend more money on this program. Don't know for sure how long since I bought in, but the program has almost been completely useless to me. Probably at least two thirds of the time I get NO weather. I have tried six times over the past 5 days or so with the same result. (Twice in the past 30 minutes). Timeout, timeout, timeout, timeout, ad nauseum. I have written before, but get shrugged off with statements about it must be me or my provider. I have absolutely no problems, Vatsim, Squawkbox, email, news groups, or anything else on the internet, except for this program. If I can be assured of getting SOMETHING for my money, I will consider the upgrade…

Hi all,There are quite a few requests for the best FSUIPC settings lately, so here there are:This is for FS2004 users only, with FSUIPC 3.125 or later.Note that most of this is covered in your included FS2004_info.txt file that came with wxRE's latest update...--------------------------------------------------------------------First, start by loading up FSUIPC (Modules, FSUIPC from the FS menu), and choose NORMAL WEATHER DEFAULTS.Next, ensure the following critical settings are made:Enable wind smoothing, approx 3 deg/kt per second.Enable vis smoothing, approx 1/10 per second.Enable baro smoothing (technical tab) at approx .01 per second.Enable "Allow FS own weather write…

I noticed this previously with 1.91 but also with the latest 1.92 update. When the winds aloft are updated (usually at about 4000 feet), the outside air temperature indicator in the cockpit jumps up anywhere from 10 to 30 degrees F.I'm using FS2004 and I believe I have ActiveSky setup correctly (FS2004 writes, stuff not needed for FS2004 disabled, etc.). I'm using Offline mode (lowly 56ker here) but it also happens in Online mode.Anyone else notice this?

I just downloaded AS and updated the program to use with FS9. I started up and went through the manuals and set the plane to KSEA and waited for the weather to update. I am using the 3.11 version of FSUIPC and made all the recommended mods to it from the AS manual. Here is what happened. The downloaed METAR was reporting the clouds at SCT 012, BKN 018, BKN 027 at the time. I got the scroll message from AS across the top of my flight sim window that reported the same thing for the clouds. However, the ATIS was only reporting FEW 018, SCT 027. I waited for a couple of minutes and the clouds slowly changed to SCT 018, BKN 027. The cloud formations seemed to change wit…

Need some help here, I've started getting crashes back to desktop, usually towards the end of my destination. This has happened several times and is very irritating to say the least. My system specs are in my sig and as you can see I overclock. My system is prime95 and memtest86 stable but I did turn the FSB back to stock to see if maybe that was a problem. Still had CTD's. Today I upgraded to 1.92 and still CTD's. I then noticed I had one common denominator: wxRE was running on each flight. So next two flights I did were without wxRE running and I did not experience any CTD's. Also this occured with the default lear, Olys Dash and the Posky 757. Haven't tried any others. …

ActiveSky wxRE v1.92 update has been released. This update reduces the severity of wind and cloud shifts by utilizing some improved FS2004 weather setting routines. All FS2004 wxRE users should update to this latest version. To download the free update, go to our downloads page at http://www.hifisim.com/downloads.htm-Damian

Both FSMeteo 6.3 and AS1.91 cause tremendous stuttering in FS9 on my system. I do not have this problem with FS9 default real weather. Because of this I have not used AS in FS9.Are the stuttering problems eliminated in AS2?What caused them!RegardsDennis Waggoner

Maybe a dumb question this.....But will AS2 run a cut down version of itself if it senses that it is running with FS2002? Or is this purely going to be for FS2004 only? Meaning that until I upgrade to FS2004, I should stick with v1.91 fo FS2002. Version 1.91 being the optimal & last version for fs2002?The reason I haven't upgraded to FS2004, is that my comp can't hack the increase in processing power needed... being only 800mhz. Spending 50 quid on a flight sim doesn't justify my spending a grand on a new comp...... just yet :-) (so it's sitting in it's plastic case, waiting for the day i do... Probably next spring.)CheersAl

I am having a problem of v1.91 of ActiveSky occasionally making the winds aloft equal to the nearest stations surface winds. I think it only happens when it reloads on the timed interval. When you are up high and go from strong winds to surface winds it messes with your jet. Also, not seeing the winds in the aloft block equal what I see on the aircraft wind display. Speed and direction are different significantly sometimes. Sometimes it all works just fine. I am using the current version of FSUIPC and have it set as per the ActiveSky recommendations. Help?? Hello Damian, fellow supporters,I'm running FS9 with PMDG 737 Radar contact and active sky wxre 1.9.Throughout the flight right from departure, everything was running very smoothly, during the descent into Faro the upper winds which were forecast and I was experiencing were swerly 80-90 knots. During the descent they were still showing the same even at flight level 80. I tried refreshing the data, evntually i used FS9 wather to drop the wind to 10 knots. Within a minute or so AS1.9 returned me to 205/88 kts. Laying off 35 degrees of drift was not pleasant so i shut down AS1.9 and rer set the wind locally to circa 230/10 and landed without incident. AS1.9 was reporting the…

The way I understand weather in FS9 you can't have both dynamic weather enabled and "real" online weather updates going at the same time. People reported all sort of wind (other) problems with set up like that.AS2 claims realistic "dynamic" weather in both online and offline modes ? Does it mean weather discontinuity problems have been resolved ?Michael J.

Will we need to purchase the commercial version of FSUIPC to get the full features capability of AS2 when it is released?I'm really not interested in anything but the weather smoothing options, I wouldn't use FSUIPC for anything else. Thank you.

Just wondering if AS2 will be able to facilitate wind smoothing as in AS1.9 with FS2002. The current winds aloft slam bam thank-you maam transitions in FS2004 with any real world weather, including all available add-ons and FS2004's own built in weather downloads, make the sim unflyable for me with real world winds enabled. If AS2 can pull off wind smoothing as well as the added features mentioned, it will be untouchable be any competition and an absolute 'must have' :)

Jim,I wanted to check the wxre.ini file in FS9And I don't find it.I do find wxre.ini in FS2002ActiveSky wxRE.Is this normal? I doubt.Active sky is installed for months for FS2002. I now want to use it with FS9. Should I recreate it manually, copy it from somewhere, copy it from FS2002? Roger
