Hi,I don't know if it is caused by AS2004, but I have used it now 2 times and on both occaisions during approach phase the weather went bezerk for a small period of time. I guess during about 60 seconds. As you can see in the picture below, my IAS suddenly dropped to 0.http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/54572.jpgAlso after the IAS was normal agin after appr. 60 seconds, I experienced very heavy turbulance. Is this caused by AS2004 or something else?Take care,Egbert

I tried everything you told me to do settings wise. On a flight today from KGSO-KORD skies were supposed to be clear at departure and destination. Thats what the nav log said. Departure and enroute were fine. Descent was good until about 10000 ft. At about 6000 i was in a cloud and it started to snow. Nowhere in the report did it say snow, infact the ATIS and the NAVlog said clear skies and few at 15,000. I am in chicago now in real life and the skies are basically crystal clear. On the ground in FS9 at KORD it was broken clouds and snow. Why cant i get this?!?!Brad

I have ActiveSky2004 installed on a remote PC and ActiveRadar on my main PC, using WideFS.Everything works perfectly, with one exception. ActiveRadar does not generate WX.MET files (yes I have the "generate met files" option checked in Active Radar. The WX.MET file does not appear in the Active Radar folder on either the remote or main PC...and searching all the hard drives does not find the file anywhere. Can anyone shed light on this anomaly? I did not have this problem when running ActiveSky2004 on the main compuetr..only on the above remote setup.Cheers,

Hi there all, Happy Holidays!!Here is my problem. I fly all of the time on VATSIM, heck, I'm flying on there right now. I create a flight plan from within FS, and pull it up on AS2004 using the New Route key. I have my settings to download online updates and VATSIM wx, but the flight plan always has weather from the 12th of the month, never the current date. It seems like the weather server it is pulling info from is forever stuck on that date... What gives, is it a problem reading info from the VATSIM wx servers or is it something with AS2004 or is it something I'm doing wrong? Thanks for any help anyone may provide. Fly safe!ChuckAthlon XP 2800+ASUS A7N8X DeluxeA…

Is there any way to tone down this effect or could you have a look at the way you've set it up?Reason: I was in an A330-300, I was number two to a Moony Bravo for landing at TNCM. I encountered wake turb (from the Bravo:-hmmm ) which sent me plummeting into the Caribbean Sea 2NM from the rwy threshold.I just about understand a slight "bump" (at the most) as I follow a Bravo but enough wake turb to down an A330, I don't think so. CheersCK

No rush for this, after the Hols will do.This evening's flight into LOWI I was hoping to do a visual from the West to Rwy 08.AS2 showed LOWI as the reporting station and gave the followingLOWI 242350Z AUTO 27004KT 230V290 1500 9999W R08/P1500 NSW M14/M14 LOWI 242200Z 250624 27004KT CAVOKNow I admit I'm not very good at reading METARs other than the winds and temps/dew points but I do know what CAVOK means.IS the first line telling me that visibility is 1500 metrers or 9999 meters?I ask because during the approach to 08 at LOWI visibility got worse and worse, all I could see was fog, this at an altitude of 3,000ft.I went into FS and cleared the weather and then refreshed A…

I've noticed that the MWD setting in FSUIPC has "Allow gusts in upper winds" checked. I wonder if this is what is giving some users so much grief with windshear (?). I always have it unchecked.

I am considering buying ActiveSky, but am wondering if it addresses the FS2004 glitch of holes in 8/8 overcast layers. With lesser systems, FS2004 will add holes in overcast layers to free up resources. Will ActiveSky allow for total overcast layers or will I simply need to upgrade? Thanks !John M.Athlon 21001 gig RAMGeForce 4600TiXP

Howdy Guys,I'm wondering if it is possible to set up a default for precipitation according to the season, when temps aren't present in the nearest station report. I landed at Jakes Bar in Alaska today (don't ask ;-) ) and Gulkana, which was 30 miles away, was -21C. Jake's Bar is also inland so I would have expected temps fairly well below zero. What I got was rain when I landed at Jakes (and no, it's a RIVER bar, not a drinking bar, and yes, it was definitely rain, thankyou :-hah). Here is what I was showing on the AS2 screen:http://home.cogeco.ca/~gdfs01/AS2Box.jpgNote there's no temp listed in the nearest station box. Actually, this was one place where I landed wit…

Well guys, I've got nothing but great things to say about AS2004. I've been following your products since your first freeware project. I must say this is by far the most impressive work yet. Congratulations.I have been doing various flights all over Canada and the boost to realism is just fantastic. A couple of nights ago I was doing a night time approach into Toronto's Pearson Intl in my RealAir Decathalon behind an Air Canada 737. About 400 feet over the surface and closing in on touch down, I got the surprise of my life. Wake turbulence! Got the plane recovered and put her down for a nice landing. Guess I should have asked for more seperation :-). It's only happened on…

Hi All,I need your help! That one thread about this issue is VERY hard for me to follow right now. I am asking(begging) that anyone needing this kind of help start a new thread with their name and/or some other id as the subject. It just gets too hard for me to troubleshoot. I would rather do this in the forum rather than by e-mail. Other users/team members are more than welcome to help out, but please don't add such things as "that's my problem too. what can I do?" Please just start your own thread and we'll get to you too! And in this way also, I'll know who is done and who still needs help.Hope this helps,JimActiveSky Support

Hi Damian,I would like to seek help from you. I have purchased AS2004 since last2 days. I found the FPS impacted and given a single FPS number once the thick clouds is there. I'm replace with chris Hi performace cloudsv2 & set the 3d clouds to 80% only. I only can get better FPS after Ichange the clouds layer to 1 layer only. Can you provide me some of the reference setting on AS2004. I like this program very much but just a little FPS concern.MY computer setting-Athlon XP 2200+-1 giga DDR ram-nvidia geforce FX 5200 128MB video card-winxp pro with sp1a-fs2004b/regards...alex ooi

Well I was tweaking away last night, trying all kinds of different things. Well I must say that the biggest improvement that I saw was moving the moving the "cloud coverage density" slider from maximum to high. Just doing this by itself and locking frames at 25 was a major improvement. As far as visuals it still looks very, very good to me. I did a flight today from Kbos to Kwwd. Nice and cloudy all the way. I had only one instance of clouds popping in and out and that was when I got close to Kacy and that was only for a few seconds. Huge improvement over what I had experienced before.Try it, you just might like it.

I recently purchased AS2004 and I am really enjoying it. I did run across a minor issue though. When I try to import some flight plans I get the message: "Unable to import selected file...". Upon further investigation I discovered that FS2004 is saving the flight plans with degree symbols in the latitudes and longitudes. I found that if I load the flight plan file into notepad and change the degree symbols to asterisks then AS2004 will load the flight plan correctly. Is there a setting anywhere in FS2004 to cause it to use asterisks instead of degree symbols when it saves it's flight plans? Thanks,Don

Coming into LEBL this box pops up. No matter how many times I click OK the darn box reappears after a couple of secs. If the data is hosed or unavailable it should least have the sense not to keep retrying.http://www.ukdirectva.co.uk/webpics/aslebl.jpg

I am running a P4-2.6 GHz with 1 GB ram and a GeForce4 TI-4200 (128 MB) Nvidia card. Running AS2004 does put a hit on the FPS. What is the best bang for the buck to my hardware that could be upgraded to raise the FPS? Maybe the videocard?? Please give me some educated feedback on this. ThanksSteve

I find that I like to limit the cloud layers for performance reasons. Is there an optimum setting? I use about twenty now.Best,Bill
