A couple of issues. SLC has been fogged in for days. Vis is 2 miles. Sitting on the tarmac I can see forever with only scattered clouds. When I take off, at 2000 AGL I am suddenly in overcast (that didn't exist a second ago). Very odd. Also, flying out of PHX tonight, AS was reporting winds 100 at 17G24. Inside FS it was showing 348 at 12. That's not even close... the opposite direction!Any ideas? Am I doing something wrong??A couple of screens to explain.EddieKSLChttp://forums.avsim.net/user_files/57892.jpghttp://forums.avsim.net/user_files/57888.jpghttp://forums.avsim.net/user_files/57889.jpg

Hi,I have had Active SKy installed for a week now. Last night I managed to get the full downlaod with winds which is good, but since installing the program I seem to get some crashs in FS. I have had two now - first was using the Baron and the virtual view with ACtive Sky doing realtime weather, second was tonight with the Dreamfleet Archer and ckicking on the right view. In both cases the screen freezes and nothing will resolve it. In fact I have to switch the mains off and restart the PC.Has anyone else had this problems?I have an Athlon Xp2000, nividia card with 64 ram and 512 ram in the PC.Keith

I read all ActiveSky instructions. It's well done and all the functions are given in a clear manner. Thanks! But I have about one hour a day for my favorite hobby. And very often I am forced to use x 8 or x 16 simulation speed. Or just to take off - move the aircraft through FS Navigator somewhere 150 miles from an arrival airport - and then to descend and land (happily:)).Could you please give me instruction how AS should be managed in such circumstances.I believe there are a lot of folks out there who needs this advice. Thanks,

Hi,I am having the same error problems as last week. Does this mean the servers have gone down again?Do we know when they will operate again? As I only got AS last week I have not been bale to get a complete download with the winds yet. I have got several days of data though, so at least I have some choice for the weather.Keith

I have just completed a flight from NZAA to NZCH and have landed with interesting weather. About 40nm miles out I had NZCH winds in Weather tracker of 060/9. This was the same as shown in the NZCH metar which was NZCH 130600Z 06009KT 20KM BKN019 BKN035 16/11 Q1016 NOSIGHowever, I then had the winds in WT change to 170/14 and the gauge in the A340 was showing this when I landed. (Tail wind landing on rnwy 20 :)).When checking AS2004 it is still showing the metar as listed above.I have saved the weather file for you if you need it.P.S. I just disconnect AS2004 and downloaded real world weather and get 037/09I'm also using the alpha release.RegardsRussell Jourdain (NZL007/ZK…

HiI hope you can help me. I bought ActiveSky2004 a few days ago and installed it according to the instructions in the readme file. (The readme didnt mention anything about the order number however). When I start Activesky i continue to get the error "Main process thread error" (it may be main proccessing thread error). I am unable to download any weather or click on new route, i always get this annoying error and the weather in fs2004 never resembles what the true METARS actually are. It mentions something about being an autogenerated TAF or something. I am a pilot in the real world but getting all this stuff to work is much harder than getting yer ppl!!!!any advice/…

Hi Damian/Jim,I was just browsing the MSFS General discussion forum here at avsim and came across this thread http://forums.avsim.net/dcboard.php?az=sho...id=171034&page= that discusses a manual work around for the FS2004 overcast limitation (ie. that it's see through from above). The work around is to clear the alpha channel on the cirrus overcast bit map and place a one foot layer of this cloud underneath the real overcast layer. If this is possible to do manually, couldn't AS2004 include a feature that automatically inserts such a modified cloud when the METAR indicates an overcast layer at a particular altitude? Such a fix would overcome what I consider to be one…

Hi,There are two things that I don't like in FS2004 built-in weather (using download automatic update):1) Say you have a fog ground layer with 3000 ft ceiling and 1/4NM visibility. When taking off and climbing, you can see the airport and ground disappear in the fog. But as soon as you pop over 3000, you suddenly can see the ground and airport through the fog.Is this adressed in AS2004? 2) The clouds seem to only be drawn up to a certain distance in a circle area around the aircraft (I have all visibility and cloud drawing options set to MAX).Is this better in AS 2004? From all the posts I've read, it seems that there is a "global" option that I understand would improve t…

If I build a short flight, less than 200 miles from departure to destination, and load a flight plan in AS2004(patched), FS9 depicts my departure weather exactly the same as my arrival weather, even though the two metars are different. It looks like AS2004(patched) is telling FS9, via FSUIPC, to make my departure weather the same as my arrival weather. If I don't load a flight plan, the departure weather is depicted correctly. Is this to be expected on a flight of less than 200 miles?

Is this altitude given as MSL or AGL? I like to fly GA quite a bit. Becuase of this, I'd rather not have wx updates limited at all by altitude - is there any reason *not* to disable this feature (I noticed it was recommended as being checked).J

Per the AS2004 Update 1 Alpha Version, the recommended FSUIPC settings in the documentation refer to "Minimal weather defaults". Does that mean that no FSUIPC weather options should be enabled? or something else?Thanks.-- WaltRunning FS2004 at 1280x960x32& AS2004 Update 1 Alpha via WideFS 6.101FSUIPC 3.135 RegisteredIntel Pentium 4, 2.0 GHzWindows XP Pro512MB PC800 RDRAM,8100128MB ATI Radeon 9600 ProCATALYST Windows XP 3.10 video driverDirectX 9.0b19 inch Samsung SyncMaster 955DF MonitorSound Blaster Audigy2 ZSCreative I-Trigue 2.1 3300 SpeakersMS ForceFeedback 2 joystick

Hello ActiveSky Team!I know that there are hundreds of these kind of messages and I apologize to you all to post this message as I have been searching help from the other similar posts, but never suceeded. :-( I'm having a problem with the clouds. I am running the sim with wxRE 1.92 and FSUIPC registered version. Every time I start the sim I'm clearing the weather from FSUIPC and then start the wxRE. The weather does usually come correct regarding the metar, but when updating on next station the clouds just disappear and then maybe in two minutes pop-in. I have been quite satisfied with this product but this is getting irritating.. I have also seen rain/snow for about 2-5…

It was mentioned that the Alpha Update integrates with the FSUIPC visibility smoothing routines. I was wondering about proper settings to achieve this:AS2004: Visibility Smoothing option on or off?FSUIPC: Same question... if FSUIPC visibility smoothing is to be toggled "on", are there any other settings related to visibility within FSUIPC that should be set? (I have the registered FSUIPC version 3.35).Thanks for the great program!Jim Barrett

I notice that my 2D front panel "blinks" off/on about every 6 seconds. This is a very fast off/on, but is noticable. If I stop AS2004 (Cntrl, Alt, Del) then stop AS2004 using the Task Manager, the blinking stops, That is, the control panel runs solid, no blinking. I have not noticed this problem with any other views, just the inside 2 D panel. Is there a adjustment/setting that might be causing me this problem? I run XP operating system, with a Gforce 3 card. CPU 1.4 AMD.Any ideas? Thanks, jim

Hi allI am a long term FSMeteo user but after the recent spot of bother Marc has got himself into I am considering a switch to Active Sky.However before I do so I would be grateful for advice on whether or not Firewalls, LANs and Transparent proxying are issues with Active Sky (they aren't for FSMeteo - at least not for me). I have all of these and am not able to disable them.Bruce

Hello to all - First time posting to this forum. I'm running fs2002 with fsuipc version 3.125 and am having trouble running activesky version 1.6. It installs with no problem, but when I start the program I get a runtime error '5': Invalid procedure call or argumentI read the manual (all 59 pages), set fsuipc and fs2002 according to the recommendation of the inclosed documentation. The program closes once you hit ok so I can't get a copy of PrintScreen to refer to. Any help will be appreciated.

Folks:I think that this has been addressed before, but I couldn't find any posts.I have experienced some "extreme" pressure settings. For example, on the way into TLPC yesterday, I noticed that wild descending to 11000 ft, the altimeter just kept increasing while in a descent. I was hitting "B" to set the altimeter, and saw that the pressure was dropping like a rock (at 27.00, I finally restart AS2004, and that cured it). Then, as I was departing this morning from TLPC, I hit "B" to set my altimeter and discovered it was "00.00 in. hg". Restarted AS2004; same prob. Gave up and switched to FSMETEO V6... prob solved.Of course AS2004 is better than FSMETEO, so after depar…
