I think this is a winner.In my last two flights the same thing happenned. While entering the final approach leg the sound starts fading away, FS closes, and there I am facing the desktop screen. All this within 2-3 secs. NO error messages, NO "FS2004 encountered a problem...blah blah". Everything looks just fine.The first flight was LSZH to EDDM with Dash-8 by Fanda, and the second CYHZ to EGCC (imagine how annoying that was!) with POSKY's A330v2.Facts:-Both arrival airports have AFCAD2 files.-I'm using Active Sky 2004 with MR1 with downloaded real weather and flying offline.System:-P4 at 3Ghz-ATI Radeon 9600 Pro with 3.10 drivers-Soundblaster Live (with updated drivers)-…

I keep wondering. Whenever I download Dheli and Mumbai the visibility is ALWAYS 0.50 - 0,75 SM.I understand humidity and smog problems there. But I spent 3 days in Bombei (Mumbai) - and was enjoying never-ending take-offs from my Marriott's balcony, beach and swiiming pool. Great weather! Interesting, that AS 2004 gives exact weather for some other airports in India. Conditions in Goa (Debolim) are ALWAYS close to reality - as far as can judge after spending 2 weeks there.Same for Bangalore.I was talking only about places where I actually was within last 2 months.

Hi All,I seem to be the first one here that has a bigger problem than no radar returns. I have been using Active Sky all the way through 1.92 so when 2004 was available I raced to get it. I went to SimMarket and thought I'd get a $10 discount but that did not happen. Mhm oh well if it's as good as it looked it's worth the whole price, so no Damian I am good there. Flying into JFK this morning and the weather was for 4nm vis with light snow. 20nm out and I can still see the airport clear as a bell. 10nm out...same. 3nm out and finally the program updates the weather for JFK??? Why does it do this? I see this happening alot with your program? I kept checking the wx stations enroute from around 50nm out and they all kept giving about the same METAR as JFK's with overcast conditions around 4000 but never saw that either. The METARS really had not changed for the last 2 hours either. I think its great, The Beta Update really helped out with wind shifting. I have found the weather to be always correct when I have used it. It is the turest most real weather I have seen yet in FS.Thanks to the AS2004 Team.Jason

Greetings,I have discovered, much to my shock and dismay that ActiveSky WXRE 1.9 is no longer willing to update the metars and upper level winds whenever I go from one station to another. I've turned the option on in the options screen, yet, the command is completely ignored. I have to manually refresh the program every 10 minutes or so because I go from one station to another.It's no fun seeing KFNT's metar when you're over Toledo, OH. Hello, I have a question: my pc crashed due to a virus.....I lost part of redownload links for sceneries and aircraft....Fortunately, I had some backups CD and quite 90 % of my files are retrieved. Hi,I've just bought AS2004 and installed it along with the alpha update. Everything seems fine - it detects my flight plan, downloads the weather and loads it into the sim (looks much better than the default!), but after a minute or so, the PC locks up solid, requiring a power-off reboot :-(Tried fullscreen & windowed, with no difference.Help!!!!One thing though, every time I restarted it, the weather looked markedly different for what appeared to be the same "clear" conditions. Can this be sent in AS2004. I remember in WX1.9 we could set the force default range to force and update and hold for the destination like say about 30 miles out. Is this not and option in AS2004??ThanksSteve

Hi Guys,OK, I've been using the Alpha 2 release with AS2 for a bit now, and have a couple of questions. Unfortunately, I'm frequently getting instant wx changes, some sudden wind transitions, etc. An area that I fly in seems to be very prone to these types of issues, probably because it is somewhat remote and stations are a bit further apart. That is namely Prince Rupert (CYPR) on the coast of B.C., Canada, and Watson Lake, YT, Canada (CYQH). Pretty consistantly, if I fly northeast out of Prince Rupert, I get a pretty quick change fairly soon after leaving the airport. Just flew a flight from PHX-TUS testing out the PMDG Beech 1900 - I observerd some very wrong weather based on what AS2004 was reporting while coming into Tucson - here's the METAR that AS2004 claimed to be operating on:KTUS 240355Z VRB03KT 10SM -RA FEW027 SCT036 OVC060 10/08 A3007 RMK AO2 RAE25B43 SLP169 OCNL LTGICCC DSNT NW P0000 T01000078I could see a cloud bank toward TUS further out, but around TUS 40 DME it vanished, leaving a slight haze, but otherwise clear skies. I tried refreshing AS2004 to no avail. The whole way down I had no clouds and no rain at all. (it's actually thunderstorming here right now...) A bit odd eh?

Is there any way to post a poll on these forums?I'm curious about something - I almost always (90% of my flights) originate my FS flights at KLEB (new hampshire) and fly south to NJ or Philly, or DC if the kids are sleeping ;). Many short low flights within NH and VT. Occasionally I'll fly north west to Burlington or Montreal, occasionally east to boston, once to Kalamazoo to deliver Brat's. Damian, Im back with winxp installed,I don't have that problem anymore,but with new things,comes new problems.I seem to get as2004 installed,at least it puts an icon on my desk,but when i click on it,i get a runtime error 372 {failed to load Chilkatzip.dll} it may be outdated.make sure you are using aversion of control that was provided with your application.}What is chilkapzip.dll? I enabled the limit surface wind option in AS2004 and set the upper limit to 1 knot. This results in Radar Contact ATIS reporting winds as calm regardless of the actual wind conditions and gusts are not reported at all.If I enable max surface wind in FSUIPC with the wind limit set to 1 the Radar Contact ATIS reports winds as 0 knots and reports the gust as the difference in Actual Wind Gust and Steady Wind Speed.Setting the max surface wind option in FSUIPC w/AS1 and FS2k2 did not result in the wrong ATIS report - and of course, there was no such feature in AS1 as there is in AS2004.I am cross-posting this in the FSUIPC forum.-michael

Hi Damian or JimI noticed my weather radar isn't working since I installed the alpha patch. I tried the work arround mentioned in this forum and it wouldn't work either (registering activeradar.dll it with Fsuipc Ver. 3.135.) My FSUIPC is unregistered. As a consequence I uninstalled Active Sky and reinstalled it, so the radar is back to work again. The weather also seems to produce much more clouds than with the Alpha Patch, although the windshifts naturally have come back now. Is there a chance to get this fixed in the February patch ( I don't wanna fly without the radar!!) as the windshifts are a problem too...Best regards

Hello Gentleman,I realize that it is impossible to release bug-free software without a period of trial, error and patching. This is the nature of the beast inasmuch as programming goes. After using Activesky 2004 for about 3 weeks now, I am not personally getting smooth winds transitions aloft. hi all,did a quick flight yesterday evening (1900Z) from Zurich to Vienna...didn't change any settings (either as2004 or fsuipc) to my previous flights...positive comment:no sudden cloud changes unitl i had to abort the flight beacause of very strong wind shifts.problem:more or less after takeoff, i had windshifts which were getting sronger and stronger up to FL320...almost every minute not only the windspeed changed (> 30kts) but also the direction (from headwind to tailwind, then back)...didn't see this before. shortly after Munich i had to abort the flight, because i had constant overspeed or stall messages...anything special yesterday with the weather server or wi…

I've just bought ActiveSky wxRE for FS2002 (there are many reasons why!) and my first flight around the UK was heart stopping - descending thro the murk at 1500' and into rain at EGCC was just magic. Hi,I have read the thread below (re the new connector program) and have succesfully installed the new connector program (by following the install instructions to the letter) on my Wide FS PC.The problem I have is that when I restart my PCs (ie the following evening to the install after turning both machines off), Active Radar does not seem to connect to ActiveSky on my WideFS PC.For info, WideFS is connected to FS PC; ActiveSky on WideFS PC has picked up FS, connected, and FS9 is displaying the weather just fine.It's just that Active Radar is not displaying the correct weather- the best it can muster is a station 1000nm away!If I re-run the new Connector Program then the …
