I was in the process of replying to an unhappy camper's posting when, lo and behold, the thread disappeared out from under me. Anyway, just wanted to extend some words of comfort to Damian and Team. If not appropriate, then delete. In reply to the complaint, let me state emphatically that the software does work as advertised. I installed and configured it as specified in the documentation and have not had a single problem. In over 15 years of computing, I've noticed that the vast preponderance of problems are caused by 1) failure to RTFM; 2) non-standard systems (either bargain basement components or improperly matched components); 3) uninformed "hacking" (changing settin…

Happy New Year to all!!Jim and Damian, congratulations on your effort with keeping up with this forum. My question has been addressed in the past by another person in another thread but still in the end I couldn't see any answer. So here it goes again. What is the format of the file wx_station_list.txt? There are some main weather stations missing that I'd like to add manually. Is that possible just by editting this file and complete_airport_list.txt?Best RegardsConnie

My Emetrix download is no longer valid, how can I install 1.9 on my widefs computer so that I can install AS2004?Thanks,

Hey guys, I've noticed it before. But tonight I was flying down to Tampa from Chicago Midway. Flightplan loaded and perfect weather out of KMDW. But Altimeter settings kept bouncing up and down. So I started keeping track of a few reporting stations. KDNW - 29.92 KPNQ 29.92 KLWV 29.73 These are consective stations that AS2004 is reporting. Something is not right with these. There can not be that much difference between stations.

Dear Damian and Jim, Thanks for a great product. I fell in love with the original activesky for 2002 and 2004 has not disappointed me. I find it far superior to FS9 version. I look forward to your upcoming upgrade and I know that you and your team are working hard to put out a first class product. To help you to that end Im sending you as much documentation of a flight I had today from Philidelphia to St Louis. For 90% of the flight the weather was dead on and I was most impressed especially on approach into St Louis with the rain, mild turbulance and thunder and lightning. It was quite a show. From reading some posts in the forum I noticed people complaining about not ge…

Is there any way to get this back? Hope I don't have to buy the program again...Email - [email protected]!Ryan

Very peculiar problem. Whenever I use Wilco's A320PIC (with their peculiar and proprietary use of activecamera-like mouse), if the inscreen weather radar display is initiated with CTRLF12 keys, then the mouse function within the A320PIC is paralysed and must be rebooted to return. It is obviously a conflict with keys between the two programs. Is there a way to remap ActiveSky Radar CTRLF12 keys to acommodate?Randy Jura, KPDX

Will MR1 include a threshold which prevents the setting of icing conditions to severe? This is obviously causing alot of problems for those with 3rd party panels due to an FS9 bug.

Sorry, I've got to report this one. Generally I've been pretty happy with AS2004, but today it totally spoiled what was shaping up to be an enjoyable flight. Route was KDFW to KABQ, via J58 SPS J72. Departed about 1600Z, arrived 1800Z. About 70 miles from ABQ I encountered very large variations in air pressure. KABQ ATIS was reporting 30.15, but pressure in that area was dipping down to 17.31, bouncing up and down, until it finally settled down to the realistic pressure about 20 miles out. Really made it difficult to hold the assigned altitudes.Would FSUIPC pressure smoothing have helped with this? I don't currently have it enabled. Here are my settings://AS2004 con…

Hi Damian, I had a similar problem right now on a flight from Portland to Denver with a 777 Meljet, at an Atltitude of 35000 feet with mach 0.86, I first began to climb slowly, although the autopilot was set on 35000. shortly afterwards I was catapulted to 47000 feet and 645 kias ( indicated Airspeed)near Idaho Falls. The plane went into a severe stall, I recovered at 17000 feet altitude and I wanted to do an emercency landing in Idaho Falls. After I loaded the new flightplan and was cleared for landing I suddenly had a crash to Desktop, any ideas what could be the cause? The flight was done without online updates checked, with taf processing active, but online. (I have a…

Hi DamianJust commenced a flight at Denpasar. On take off with a fully laden 737 and climb out I had the misfortune to come across a situation that nearly resulted in a total loss. The air speed decayed rapidly to a stall situation from which I barely recovered. Got the aircraft climbing when at around 17000 feet the aircraft was catapulted to 47000 in the blink of an eye. I noticed the baro was showing 27.99in so I hit the B key and it immediately reverted to 0.00in and the alt around 9000 feet from memory.I am now at cruise 37000 feet with 27.99in on the baro. When I try to set STD it catapults me up to 38880 feet and the aircraft starts to descend - pressing B shows 0.0…

OK - I need to clarify some terminology here - haven't flown IRL for a while but when I did, there was a distinct difference between wake turbulence ( vortices) and wind shear. I have experienced both IRL - the Wake turbulence wanted to roll my a/c while the wind shear wanted to push it violently from side to side.I have now experienced a third problem that *may* be related to AS2004. I set up a flight from KSEA to KSLC at FL320 using AS2004 online weather. At approx the same place in the flight ( after about an hour ) I noticed the wind indicator suddenly jump to 99 and my al;titude went from FL320 to FL610 !!. Airspeed went from 300KIAS to 510KIAS. I had to release auto…

Howdy Gang,I've been doing a LOT of flying and experimenting with AS2004 since getting it on "opening day" ;-) and think I've hit on a few settings that my alleviate some of the issues here. It might be worth a shot if you are seeing sudden cloud changes and vis through an undercast, and even if you aren't, these settings might add a little atmosphere (80. Now as some of you have noticed, when you have this set, and max visibility, you can see beyond the edges of the clouds and often see clear air beyond, and you get this ugly line on the horizon. I really think this is an FS thing to a large degree, but whatever. What I did was go into the FSUIPC module and set the r…

  23. Damian,We all know you're working hard, but is there any chance to get those two issues fixed in the upcoming patch? sometimes small things make big difference ;)1. FlightWatch converts mBar pressure (Qxxxx) to inHg and reads it this way. Hits realism pretty badly when flying in Europe, and you always need to have inHg<->mBar convertion table at hand. It was fine in wxRE.2. A lot of missing station IDs in wx_station_list.txt. As it was also fine in wxRE (icao.txt), will simple file-conversion+merge tool do the job?And some anticipation...After reading some of your explanations on the forum about how new FS weather system works, i imagine how many workarounds AS2 nee…

Folks:I know there is a post below describing this exact same problem with the PSS A320. Turning on Pitot Heat resolved the issue. However, it still occurs with the PMDG 737, and it seems to be a issue only with AS2004 (IAS dropping to zero does not hapeen with default weather or FSMeteo). With the PMDG, they have the pitot heat correctly setup. It has been confirmed, thru FSUIPC, that pitot is indeed ON. However, the airspeed still drops to zero when "severe" icing is encountered (at least that was the term someone usedin the PMDG forum). So, is AS2004 by any chance throwing "severe" icing at FS9?And, if not, would it be possible to have the option of turning off icing a…
