Is there an option I might be missing somewhere that I can force the destination weather? The past couple of days, the weather doesn't actually change to the destination until I'm on final about 5 miles out? I've imported the flight plan and all that.Reason I asked is I've been looking for some very low vis approaches. Last night Salt Lake reported 1/4 mile vis and myself and a fried flew there. He couldn't see anything until practically over the runway.I had the airport clear as day 10 miles out. When I landed, AS2004 finally changed to the SLC station and then I was in the soup, but I wanted the soup on my way in ;-)Thanks,Lance

Just bought AS2004 fram simmarket, downloaded and installed fine. But gives me crappy sound. Sound which spraks all the time... Also the recommended update from the hifisim page, claims that I dont have a valid version installed and can therefore not update anything... Does anyone have any suggestions?tia, kryppe

Hi All, After finally getting used to AS2K4, I have a question regarding the forecast winds at different altitudes. How are these wind directions and speeds to be interpreted? Will they update themselves as you progress along on a long flight or are they fixed from the time the interpolation is made? I have on several flights, of varying length, and I have never seen that these predictions of winds and altitudes macth up (even by a margin). Most often, the predicted wind speeds are more or less ok, but the wind direction is never. It differs by more than 100 degrees most times. Am I doing anything wrong?Thanks in advancePittsburgh

Hi,Can someone explain to me why at PAAQ where is was snowing a few minutes ago, Active Sky only shows it snowing from one direction? ie if I turn away from the snow it stops.Keith

Sometimes AS2K4 will display wind direction as a negative heading. I know you are working on fixing some bugs with the clouds. Just like to say I think your program is great. If it helps I'd like to give an update about my ongoing concern that I've posted before. The classic problem for me has been on approach to a destination. At times the clouds will just clear but even more common and more frustrating is what happened last night....the visibility of one half mile I was anticipating at KBOI disappeared (I know it was there because I did "go to airport" to see it before the flight, then changed to back to SEA to fly there and replicate this problem). I have a problem that all my 2D panels are flashing when I use AS2004. I don't remember I have seen anyone else with this problem?In CS727 it is only the windows I have opened, such as the autopilot, the radio panel, the center column, that flashes. But in PMDG737 it is the whole 2D panel which is flashing. It is not all the time, maybe only when changing the weather.I am not 100% sure, only 99%, that it is AS2004 which is causing this. I have now tried to start and exit AS2004 - and only when AS2004 are active the panel is flashing.Is this a new thing? Hey all, not sure if this is AS2004 related or not, but it is happening after I installed AS2004. When descending below 8000 (approx) on approach, I'm losing my Airspeed indicator. Yes PITOT heat is on, or at least it should be (the red warning light is still illuminated even after several attempts at recycling the PITOT heat). I've also tried shift/h with no luck.Has anyone who uses the Captain Sim 727 and AS2004 experienced this? Any remedies, or quite possibly what am I doing wrong ;-)Thanks!Lance

Does AS2004 provide average winds from an imported Flight Plan?

Overally i am quite happy with it.What i like:The Active Radar is great.The depiction of weather is nicely done. I was doing a flight a couple of days ago and was flying over heavy thick clouds. I knew i was expecting clear skies at my destination and watched as the clouds began to slowly thin out, becoming more sparse and smaller until it was clear.The visibility - this is one of the best features in my opinion and was the reason i bought the product in the first place. I hate it when you have massive sudden visibility changes which is totally unrealistic. Active Sky goes some way to getting rid of that. Also the visibility is usually not too high (who can see 120 miles …

Dear Sirs, I am experiencing CTD after AS2004 loads its weather information into COF while I am just sitting at a gate with the panel screen up. I have tested just letting the panel sit there for awhile and no CTD occurs. As some background I have only FSNav, FSUIPC and the PSS A-330 as commercial addons in my system. I am using FSW latest clouds fix along with PAI AI planes. I have never experienced a CTD with my system before. Also, if I don't use AS2004 my system continues to operate correctly. I recently bought a new computer and wish to install active sky in it(as I think it is a escellent product). I bought a copy of Avtive Sky on Dec 21st 2003 to "try it out" on the old computer first. Unfortunately the old computer was not able to run fs9 and the benefit of Active Sky was not seen. I did have access to the hard drive files and was able to get the files of Active Sky and copy them to the new computer. Naturally this copy did not work (I just hoped it might). Hi Jim and Damian,I've a question here.How does wxRE (v1.9+) handle the low level clouds/vertical visibility very often present in wintry METARs ?That is: I got often METARs with clouds strings as follows: "FEW001 BKN002", "SCT000 OVC002", "BKN000 BKN001" and so on or "VV002" and I was not satisfied with the rendering in FS2002 beacuse it was quite incorrect (I know that the sim has its limitations, but if the weather is BKN001 I would like to have just about that sim).It was either no cloud till the first BKN layer or a generic broken/overcast layer (for the VV cases) at an higher level than the one depicted in METARs. Hello, I am using wXRE 1.91 with FS 2002 pro. I have not been on the sim for a while (throught the Xmas and New Year season), and decided to give it a try this morning.It did not turn out right because I kept on getting the message that there was a communication error with the aloft server.Is this true, or could it be a problem from my side?

Just bought ActiveSky 2004 tonight and am generally very impressed. So far I've only had one issue with winds aloft -- on my first flight from SFO to SAN, it happened somewhere near Catalina (SXC). A couple of 180-degree shifts in wind direction, causing overspeed/underspeed, but my PMDG 737NG was able to compensate relatively well.A more serious problem is a low haze/fog layer that I can't seem to shake -- it happened at the end of the first flight and throughout the second. I removed activesky via 'add remove programs' in WinXP, but I still have 4 entries for 'ActiveSky wxRE 1.x to 1.x Update'.I tried removing the registry entries for these but they still showed up. The only way I know of removing them is to reinstall ActiveSky, uninstalling the updates, THEN uninstalling ActiveSky.Unfortunately, you can't download the install executable off of the Website. Only the latest update.I purchased the program so I figured I could just go and download it when I needed to. What do I do?Thanks!Steve

Hello all!!! First of all i think Active sky is great!! The problem I am Having is that about 5min. or so into my flight i lose my airspeed indicator. And If I have my autopilot on it messes up as well. And Half my screen goes blank!!!Any Ideas?????Please help!!ThanksMark.
