Hi Max,Thanks for the input...We have a solution almost in place that does pretty much that, reducing upper winds to a maximum speed. There is also another option, counter-clockwise winds fix attempt that has proven to help significantly, but at the expense of potentially invalid wind directions at other-than-specified altitudes (3,6,9,12,18,24,30,34,39K). I.e. in-between FL240 and FL300 the wind directions will swing around up to 300deg (smoothly) to accomplish a counter-clockwise ascending wind layer transition (the root of FS9's wind bug). Furthermore, we are introducing a "disable upper winds" option for those who prefer to avoid FS9 upper winds entirely. Hopefull…

Hi,I while back I posted about "phantom" wake turbulance, I just completed a flight where I thought I had "phantom" turbulance, as soon as the turbulance hit I had a look around, and low and behold a Dash 8 2 miles behind me was giving me wake turbulance. Is this something that can be solved?, or am I just going to have to turn wake turbulance off?.CheersDan.

I just installed AS2004 (have been a happy camper with ActiveSky wxRE). The first time I load it up, I'm on the ground in Palmer, AK, ICAO code PAAQ. AS2004 reports the weather at the nearest location using the code "KPAQ." Now in the Alaska Supplement, Palmer Muni goes by PAQ and PAAQ, but not by KPAQ. Doing a "Get" in AS2004 on PAAQ works, and turns up the same metar as shown for KPAQ.Is there a fix to this? I read the FAQ, and searched the forum here on "Alaska" and found nothing. In the grand scheme of things, this is not a major deal. But it ought to be an easy fix. And for payware, I would expect to see it fixed.-Basil

Hi,I noticed that Activesky wxRE 1.92, when downloading winds in the off line file, not only downloads todays winds but also yesterdays winds. FSbuild (a flight planning program) is able to import winds aloft data created by Activesky (at least that's what they say..) but that program wrongly takes the yesterdays winds data since it does not check for dates; the latter is confirmed by Ernie of Fsbuild. Why is Activesky downloading yesterdays winds? Who needs that? Would it be possible to suppress that feature?Kind Regards,Nicowww.nicokaan.nl

I must have done something wrong.I have worked through the installation process up to 'Configuring FSUIPC...' on p.6 of the manual. However, when I start FSUIPC as instructed, I don't get a window with lots of tabs (eg, wind, visibility, etc) as per the manual; I get a window with only 'About' and 'Logging'. It seems to want something to be registered, but the manual doesn't mention that, and the FAQ says it isn't necessary.Have I broken something? Can it be fixed? How??Many thanks!Peter

Hey there.Yesterday, during my first visit in Athens, LGAV I noticed the following. When approaching (at around 20nm inbound LGAV) a new weather would load every 20-30 secs. Even after landing and while taxiing to the gate, the weather kept changing continuously. And the weirdest was in the end when the aircraft was parked and still and the weather was still doing its thing. And when I say weather I mean clouds and wind direction mainly.I took a look at the AS2004 window and realised that the METAR report was changing between LGAV, LGEL (10nm W of LGAV), LGBL (80nm N of LGAV(!)), and LGAD (80nm W of LGAV(!)) even when my aircraft was parked at the gate. Some kind of confu…

Hi,After hanging back for many months I've made the plunge and purchased AS - I'm looking forward to getting hooked!Although the installation went fine, frame rates have reduced by an average of 60% (e.g. 30fps -> 12fps) on all 'flights' (I've tried 20+).I've followed the installation instructions to the 'T' and tried the Alpha 2 patch as well but to no avail.I can't help feeling that I must be missing something obvious.Any guidance most welcome. :-) Cheers,Jools (UK).PENTIUM 4 2.8GHZ1GB RAMNVIDIA FX 5900 128MBWIN XP PRO

First, does this product work with Chris Willis' performance clouds? I don't want to kill framerates as I already run MyTraffic and have lost enough already. Second, is it in any way integrated into the existing product? I already have enough things I need to leave the game for in order to setup outside and it's often redundant. I'd much prefer a solution that is as nearly integrated into the experience as MS' own weather.

Hi All!We have decided to release Update 1 (Alpha 2) as an intermediate non-official update before MR1. This addresses the major issues found after release. All AS2004 users are welcome to apply this update, but please make sure you have saved your original 1.0 installer and USE AT YOUR OWN RISK as this is not an official release.Work continues on MR1, and we have had a major breakthrough in the winds smoothing department which should really improve things. Much more development needs to be done (the entire winds aloft engine must be re-written), and there are another ~10 items including some minor fixes and some new enhancements and options. Official MR1 release is n…

Hello there, it's mister EHAM again here ;-)Some time ago I noticed a temperature problem at EHAM (http://forums.avsim.net/dcboard.php?az=show_topic&forum=171&topic_id=7472&mesg_id=7472&page=3), now I have a strange thing with rain. Please try following METAR:EHAM 311125Z 18022G32KT 6000 RA FEW009 BKN011 BKN016 07/06 Q0995 TEMPO 4500When I'm using this, the rain is NOT visible untill the altitude is 0 (zero) or higher. This is the case for all views, not just the cockpit view. Like the temperature problem, I still believe this has something to do with EHAM being below sealevel. Yes, I know you tested and concluded this is not the case Jim :-). However, wh…

When importing a flight plan into AS2k it shows the departure and destination IDs only. None of the waypoint IDs are showing. The rest of the information for the waypoints are there. Just the IDs of the waypoints are missing. I created the FP in FSNavigator and exported it to FS2004. I loaded the flightplan with the FS2004 FlightPlanner and then immediately saved it back before hitting 'OK' to load the plan to ATC. I then exited FS and started AS2k and hit new route and importd the filght plan. The results were as stated at the beginning of this post.

Hi guysCurrently the AS2004 main program gives the barometric pressure in millibars, and outputs that to the FS9 main screen. However, the active radar module reports the pressure in Inches of Mercury.Have I missed a setting somewhere? If I haven't, will the coming update be addessing this issue?A option to the change the settings of both parts of AS2004 to either of the standards would be much appreciated.CheersGraham

On two flights, one into KABQ w/o a flight plan (from the south) and one out with a flightplan (to the south) I seem to be receiving conflicting METAR info. Just south of ABQ down almost to ONM I receive KIKR as the closest station. The KIKR data seems out of synch with the rest of the area:KABQ 012156Z 00000KT 10SM FEW060 SCT120 SCT250 11/M01 A3013 RMK AO2 KIKR 012153Z AUTO 21014G23KT 10SM OVC031 05/M02 A3015 RMK AO2 SLP199KONM 012153Z AUTO 23017KT 10SM CLR 11/M09 A2999 RMK AO2 SLP109 I realize this is probably for Kirtland AFB, but since KABQ and Kirtland are in essence the same field I do not understand why there would be such conflicting METAR data (temp, winds, sky…

Dear support!I searched through the forums and found out that AS2004 is not compatible with IVAO servers?! Any news about this matter? I do mostly online flying in IVAO network and weather compatibility is a must for my weaher add-on! I'm planning to buy AS2004, but with no IVAO support I regret I just can't do it. Freeware software like FSMetar and even payware FSMeteo do support it. I'm confused. Thanks,Steve
