Hi, When I connect AS to FS, via WideFS, FS is crashing. The weather is getting set, and either just before, or just after, the green banner with the weather scrolls across the FS screen, FS blows up.I am using the recent release, with the latest, paid, versions of FSUIPC and WideFS.I have had this program since Wednesday, and I just can't get it to work. It won't install, so I have to do some things manually. I can't get the Radar screen to give me any weather.Despite the claims of the developers that is works with WideFS, I am beginning to doubt it. Is anybody using it sucessfully in this setup?Steve

Hi -I have fsuipc and the latest paid version of AS. Yesterday, while proceeding from LAX to SFO at 10000 in a Baron, the winds would shift from 100 degrees to 030 degrees instantly back and forth over a period of about 10 minutes. Of course this makes the aircraft yaw badly. What I wonder, is that since I have fsuipc set to smooth the winds, why should this erratic wind shift occur?

Now that WIDEView 2004 is out is there any chance AS2004 could work with WideView2004 machines so the weather on the main server will populate to the wideview clients?Randy

Question,I planned a flight KBKL to kACK. Winds aloft showed generally 240 and about 60 knots of tailwind the whole way. Great! Let's fly. Get to cruising alt and the winds are no where near what is reported in the nav log??? I have a head wind instead? This happens all the time??? Anyone else experience this?

Having observed the various threads and in particular the 'Bugs' thread I got to thinking that perhaps a controled test should be arranged whereby everybody flies a standard flight at the same time with the same settings in both AS2004 and FSUIPC and a standard PIREP is filed at various points in the flight. The PIREP could include met observations etc. and then push them all in Damian's/Jim's direction for evaluation. The reports could include system basics and other variables. Doing this might uncover some of the problems.Just a thought.Andy b

I'm in the Atlanta region and last night (2/18/04) it was clear as can be. The stars where I live were beautiful. I decided to fire up AS04 and go for a flight. Even after clearing the weather in FSUIPC, I still got overcast clouds up above! Was there something up with the update center last night perhaps?? I flew around the airfields KLZU, KATL, KMGE, and KGVL.Probably something screwy on my side again...

Hello,I do not know where this is coming from, but here it is:I set up a reoute, actualy OOMS to HECA, and open FS2004 MR1, but had also the same prob yesterday with the previous beta, load the route in as2004, and when the nav log appears, it is giving you the wind on the ground, then if you look at the upper wind, it gives errativc things, like no wind, temp is is -273

With the current public beta of MR1 I now have rather massive "cloud pop" problems, that I didn't have before. On earlier flights I attributed that to the fact that I was flying in Africa, with very few stations, but today I am flying from Zurich (LSZH) to Budapest (LHBP) and all cloud coverage just disappears around my current position, redrawing in the distance, but around the airplane everyhing is totally clear, no matter what the metar is.Right now I am 4 miles from Graz (LOWG), which has the following metar:LOWG 191020Z 09010KT 050V120 9999 SCT035 SCT050 03/M07 Q1020 NOSIGAS just updated and there is no cloud to be seen anywhereTAF processing is disabled, suprression …

HiIn your faq you state this :-I am experiencing severe wind shifts. Can anything be done to improve this?First, make sure your options are correct. All FSUIPC weather options should be disabled and AS2004 defaults should be loaded (using the NORMAL DEFAULTS button in the AS2004 options page). You must have a valid flight plan loaded (with correct cruise altitude entered) for route-based wind smoothing to be enabled. If you continue to have wind shifts, you can use

I was flying in the neighborhood of CYZT today, 2004-02-18 14:00 CDT, when the temperature suddenly dropped to below 200 degrees F. It was so cold that the engine of my Cessna 177 would barely run.Here's some data I pulled from ActiveSky 2004:CYZT 182000Z CCA 09005KT 20SM SCT033 BKN060 BKN085 07/04 A2991 RMK CYZT 181747Z 181818 27009KT P6SM SCT015 BKN040 FM2300Z 24005KT P6SM SCT020 BKN040 TEMPO 2304 6SM -SHRA BR BKN020 BECMG 0204 VRB03KT FM0400Z VRB03KT P6SM SCT015 BKN040 TEMPO 0415 5SM BR BKN015 FM1500Z 15005KT P6SM BKN030 RMK NXT FCST BY 00Z RMK AUTO GENERATED AS2004FL030: 225/00 (-273.0) FL060: 225/00 (-273.0) FL090: 225/00 (-273.0)FL120: 225/00 (-273.0) FL180: 225/00 …

Hi thereIt is impossible for me to fly this evening with AS2004. Just after take off from EKCH my EGT falls to -50 degrees or so. I get a engine failure on both engines. My airspeed goes to 900 knots, but the aircraft is almost standing still in the air? If I do a CTRL+Z the wind speed seems ok. I closed AS2004 and did a "clear all weather" in FSUIPC. Then everything went back to normal. Then I restarted my PC - downloaded the weather in AS2004 and tried again - but the same thing happend. Any idea? I have not seen this before. And I am wondering how AS2004 can do this? How can it get my airspeed to go to 900 knots without FS9 detecting that wind?BrSteen

Hi. I am a new AS user, and I am having a new problem: I am importing flightplans, but my navlog shows all the waypoints data to be the same. Wind direction is 225, speed 0, and temp is -273.0 I am using most of the defaults, and I have FSUIPC set to minimum weather defaults. The weather at my starting point seems to be working. Using newest version of ActiveSky.I tried a few flightplans, but the one I am trying is CYYZ to KSFO. Can anyone figure out what I am going wrong? Everything seemed to be working fine last night. (I did this exact flight and the weather and navlog were correct). //AS2004 configuration file[General]WindowPosX = 5730WindowPosY = 6030Defaul…

Hi Damian I have a puzzle for you.I'm building a wideview lan network with one FS server and five FS clients.I'm using an ActiveSky remote internet pc connected via widefs to the FS server. The server has real weather without having ActiveSky on it. So because FS server has wideserver on FS module and ActiveSky remote internet PC has wideclient on it, everything goes fine. Now I'd like to have the same real weather in all clients without installing ActiveSky on them, but, as clients, they have wideclient and not wideserver, so it is impossible from ActiveSky remote pc to share weather with them. I'm not a computer expert, so I want ask you a solution. How to share weather …

Hi All,don't know if anyone has asked this before, but I did not see it addressed in the new FAQ. Since the file format of the saved weather sets is different from the old AS format which could be used with Flightmax I was wondering if there is a way to get the new better weather displayed in FSFlightmax.Sunny

When opening AS2004 I get an Error Message "Error Initializing-Check your INI File!" And where is the AS2004.ini file supposed to be installed. I have it in the "FS9" Main Root directory and also in the "Modules/Activesky 2004" dirctory.I cannot get the program running. Help!!!!Thanks

FS 2002 WXRE v1.6 FSUIPC V2.972 I purchased AS in Dec03 Regardless of the weather (clr) 10sm etc the fog comes in heavyer every two sec or so untill there is maybe 50 ft vis. If you take off anyway its thick up to 7,000-8,000 ft. Ive tryed all I can think of and it still happens. Refresh doesn't help. New situations, areas, times, just thick fog. Any Ideas? larry

Hi,I use wxRE with FS2002 and Fsuipc version 3.20 registered copy. I find that I don't get any surface winds. I have the taxi wind control switch on "switch off" (this means it's on right?). But after trying all 3 options I still get no surface winds, any help would be appreciated.Jerry

Haven't yet flown with the latest update, but it's great to see a forced destination feature added. What exactly is the forced destination distance set to? I checked the ini setting but don't see a value, just "true"....Can it be modified? Thanks, John HaleyThunder Bay

Having the troubles I had with cloud pops, I decided to disable the local range supression to see what would happen. The result is that the cloud pops went away. When AS2004 would update, you could notice some changes in the cloud formations, but nothing drastic like disappearing clouds. It made for a much smoother flight, at least in my opinion. I put my update interval at 30 minutes.Scott

The new version of FSUIPC is out and the very last paragraph in the new manual has some words about FS2004 weather. When you download it read the new manual and see if it sounds familiar to issues that are being discussed here daily about the weather doing it's own thing. Hmmm???Steve

On initial descent out of FL350 for FL240 while approaching KSFO the winds were 272@97. The winds shifted to 260@97 and next I watched as the wind direction cycled slowly (one degree at a time) from 260 around to 272 - but they cycled counter-clockwise!All-n-all, the autopilot smoothly compensated for the change and there was no violent reaction to this by the aircraft. It was just strange to see the winds cycle 260 - 250 - 240 - 230 ... 110 ... 100 ... 050 ... 040 ... all the way around and back to 272.BTW: The cloud generation on descent below 12000 to ~7000 was absolutely incredible. Thick broken cumulus and when I leveled at 6000 I was skimming the bottoms. Off to…

This afternoon, flying from KDFW to KBNA at FL370 I made the FIRST smooth flight I've ever taken with Activesky. I am not as of yet sure what changed for me but EVERYTHING winds wise was perfectly smooth, not one glitch.I stand amazed. I did leave both the main Activesky and Flightlog windows open fully (instead of clicking them down to taskbar icons) and then ran FS9 on top of the open windows. I wonder if this accomplished anything? Up until now wind transitions have been nothing short of horrible, I can't believe how great everything worked this last time. I did experience entire overcast cloud layers disappearing a couple of times but that's a different…
