Hi Jim :-),Something very strange is happening.Every time I want to load a New route, I import the *.pln, click on Process and....nothing happens, AS2004 stacks and I have to close it :-(This began with MR1 v87.So I uninstalled completely AS, installed it again and reinstalled the MR.= same thing.Well, I uninstalled the whole package and only installed the base program without patch and....same thing, AS won't allow me anymore to load flight plans!I am using your wonderful product every time I fly so i have no problem with proceeding.I even created new plans with FSNav, saved them and imported them the way I uselly do but without success. I then deleted FSUIPC.ini (reg.ve…

Hi-Fi Guys (and Gals?): First, let me say I waited and waited until the posts became generally favorable before I upgraded from WxRE. I finally moved on it today, and just took my first flight, Seattle to KMDW. Had one veer, not as bad as WxRE, at around 9000 with wind change kind of abrupt. It was tolerable. From then on, I have no complaints. I saw clouds building along my flight path, had a pretty accurate jetstream and good temps. I mean, the last time I took this flight in 1.92, I suffered an "overstress" catastrophic failure from wind shear. This AS2004 was sure fun tonight, zipping along @ FL470, showing GS of near 590 knots! Kaydub

Hi,I'm starting the HRW (Hopping around the world available on AVSIM file library) series of flights and would like as reel weather as possible for these flights. The flights started early august 2003. Is there any way to download old AS2004 weather? The download archive within the program itself don't seem to be able to donload older files than jan. 1. 2004.Harald :-)

Hello to all AS2004 users and supporters!Build 87 is now available at http://www.hifisim.com/as2k4updateMR1rc1.zip.With your help during the public beta stage, we have managed to come up with a solid build with just a few very minor things to touch up upon (ActiveRadarConnector for WideFS users and documentation left to be updated). Those interested in testing this new build, please take a look at your convenience and let us know if there are any remaining problems you are experiencing. Bug reports for B87 should now go directly to me at [email protected] while we wrap things up.To highlight some of the things we've been able to accomplish for MR1:- Eliminated signifi…

EGLL-ESSA, FL370, not sure exactly where it started, but somewhere past BAK. Build 86, WideFS. Flight plan & AS ini as below. It just started, as soon as it had finished updating, a short pause, and then off again. Occured ~ 1830Z today. Hi again all!B86 is ready. The focus of this build was to eliminate problematic FSUIPC communications where inconsistent wx could be encountered (leading to harsh wind changes as well). Also greatly reduced the occurance of FS9 randomly clearing WX at certain stations (causing cloud clearing/shifts). Note that some cloud shifts may occur in certain areas due to FS9 re-interpolation. The re-interpolation effect is minimal and helps reduce the major problems many have been experiencing with clearing clouds.I still cannot re-produce the looping refresh effect as a couple users have reported. If you still get these, please help by sending me the current .PLN and current_…

I have done a fair share of beta testing in my time - Usually when trying to determine the root cause of a concern you have a control group who will use the same settings to help determine if it is a settings issue or a program issue.I know once things are finished people will be left to making their minds up on settings, but shouldn't we find the issue instead of having to guess what is causing it based on what my settings are vs. the next guy?Just food for thought...

Getting a new computer setup with the old one relegated to file storage on my LAN. I have FS2002 and Active Sky wxRE 1.92 installed on the old machine and have put FS2004 on the new one. Now I'd like to upgrade to Active Sky 2004 for the new computer as well. The purchase info says that in order to take advantage of the upgrade discount pricing one must have the old version installed as you do the upgrade installation. I'd just as soon not have to put the older version on the new computer just to remove it again so I'm wondering if anyone knows if the upgrade installation will see the files it needs on a network drive or just what it looks for to proceed with the inst…

Can someone explain how the weather settings in FS interact with those in AS2004?What would be most helpful would be some definitive instructions on how to set EACH AND EVERY weather-related parameter in FS in order to get the most out of AS.Thanks.

I cannot find in the active sky pdf file what the function of the defcycle & expcycle wxd are. Would you kindly provide a brief explanation or point to documentation on these specific files?

Howdy guys,I'm not getting over this way much anymore due to the tremendous slowdown in the forum loading hosted by AVSIM now. It just takes too long for me to load up anymore. However, I have been keeping abreast of the updates and new builds for AS. Thanks once again for your continued good support. The reason for this post, is to confirm what many others are seeing still (build 84), to do with pop-up clouds, sudden transitions, etc., and perhaps offer a possible idea to look at in the way of a partial solution. I am wondering if there might be any connection between some of these issues and coastal areas, since that is where I do a lot of my flying, and where I no…

First off, let me say that i am happy with ActiveSky. I think it is a great product and the visibility smoothing etc. features are essential! However, this is one thing i dont like which i have noticed. This is ActiveSky's depiction of overcast skies. For both departure and destination, if it is overcast, you wont see a complete overcast sky. You normally see a patch of overcast cloud over a part of the sky and the rest is usually blue sky. I guess this is because the METAR weather is shown only over a 2 mile area around the weather station and the area surrounding that is calculated based on some algorithm. For example, look at the pic below which i took today as i was…

I have just completed a flight from Melbourne to Cairns in the PMDG 737-700 and could hardly wait to shutdown and get on ver here to throw bucket of cold water over the naysayers - you know who you are!Clouds were as per AS2004 Metar with definite delineations between metar coverage areas - the only disappointment being interruptions by metars with no cloud details (refer earlier thread entitled 'What is the effect on AS2004).Winds were kind - varied but without the sudden violent shifts experienced earlier. As I descended into Cairns I had a partial overcast that disappeared with the new station metars coming online (again not an AS2004 problem - probably my setup). On f…

Hi,Thanks for your interest in our products! Some things to remember:Thousands of users are successfully using our software everyday. You will never see posts from them. Many of the fixes we are trying are problems coded into FS9 itself. Damian is doing this with no SDK at hand; not an easy task.We offer public, unofficial releases to gain as much feedback as possible. Yes, there is a private testing team and we could work behind closed doors. But then every 2nd post would be: "where's the patch?" "what's the delay?" "what's taking so long?" So we work in public, attempting to work out every last situation for our users. Will we ever get there? We hope so! Yes, the FS 2002 …

I received my registration keys for FSUIPC & WIDEFS in an email this morning. In my FS9 modules folder there is a file "FSUIPC.key" If I copy this file to a safe location, in the event (gulp) I ever have to do a reinstall of FS2004, can I just right click on the file and "OK". Will the information containing my two registration codes be input to the registry? I will certainly keep the codes themselves in a safe place but it would be easier to just "click" on the file and have it do the grunt work for me, All is well with WIDEFS. I can run "trafficlook" and "weather2" from the remote PC. Does anybody suffer from the occasional "flicker" of video while using ActiveSky? T…

I am fairly happy with AS right now:wind and visibilty smoothing are good enough. But it seems there is still no pressure smoothing.IS this true?If so, could this be implemented? In the mean time, would it be possible to use FSUIPC pressure smoothing? And about FSUIPC, why don't you provide some more customization about Wind/Visibility smoothing just like FSUIPC? I find that sometimes even smoothed, that changes are still a bit too fast.Nothing dramatic by the way.

Before touchdown I sometimes experience quite unrealistic gusts before touchdown. Wind was always stable at 4kts headwind. This didn't occur to me with FS real weather. Is this normal or would you suggest to adjust some FSUIPC settings. Thanks a lot!Sam

I just bought ActiveSky and also patched it with the latest build. Installation went all smooth. I am able to a flightplan without a problem and also the print looks fine. I carefully adjusted all settings in FS9 and in my reg. FSUIPC. However, the flightplan doesn't show in the Radar Screen in FS.In a previous thread I read that this issue could rely to my FSNAV built plans. So I loaded them and immediately saved it again in FS, as suggested. No luck. Is there a workaround or will future builds make FSNAV plans compatible to ActiveSky?Any ideas are most appreciated!!Thank you, Sam

I have a second computer on a lan and would like to know how to view trafficlook & weatherset2 on one computer while running F@2004 on the other

There are files that came with FSUIPC like "TrafficLook.exe, weatherset2.exe, and weatherset.exe and trafficLook.ini. I don't think I need the weather set.exe since it appears to relate to FS2000 Is there a site that will be more detailed and specific in the use of these products. I refuse to pay for FSUIPC because I did not know I needed it before hand when I bought active sky from justflight.com, therefore I will probably not get any help from the authors site.
