Hi Jim and Damian. While trying to compare different server metar data, I notice there are relatively few station, in Italy (ICAO LI**), with metar strings in the stored AS2004 archive file. The cycle test is 23 Zulu of 27 march, stored with "D/L current". At the same time I store IVAO and VATSIM metar file with other software.I find 123 stations in IVAO file, 80 stations in VATSIM file and only 47 in AS2004 file. Exactly there are 111 ICAO name in the AS2004 file, but 47 have string metar while the other have only "upper winds".I bought AS2004 recently, and I did few tests. Moreover, I try only with Italy area data. What are you thinking about? It's a temporary problem? …

  3. Hi Jim / DamianCan you advise if there is a bug list for the MR1 release yet and if there will be any facility for another weather server to be selected in the next patch release IE maybe a choice to select Jepperson world data TAF and Metar download as a backup in case the data net server is down.RegardsWayne

  4. Hi AllJust wanted to find out if all users are having issues with TAF data being incorrect 90 % of the time and the lack of cloud when a metar is current but represented with /// in the Metar. Jim indicates that the /// issue has occurred since MR1 was released so hopefuly it will be fixed in the next patchI do my Sim flying in Australia and very rarely see a TAF that matches the real world data in fact it is completly different, The Metar is almost always correct though, could it perhaps be a problem on the datanet server with the TAF.It is a great product and Jim and Damian have been very good in answering all my painful questions, hopefully we will see continued refine…

Hi everybody,I'm using Activesky version 1.6 CD version. I've installed the update to 1.91, but it was the update for downloaded versions. I'll be getting the proper update soon. (did installing the wrong update harm my version 1.6 functionality?)I've noticed that my weather conditions shown on the Activesky program don't match FS2002 conditions unless I'm using an offline file. In fact, even when I change airports over and over again, the weather conditions weren't changing. When in offline mode, I can move from airport to airport with conditions matching the offline file.Is there something I'm doing wrong?

I'm sitting on the ground at CYQR the METAR showsCYQR 280000Z 16004KT 15SM OVC270 06/03 A2977 RMK CI3 SLP106Which should result in an Overcast Ceiling at 27,000ft, right? From the screen shot below you can see I only have some scattered cloud cover. FSUIPC Wethaer look utility shows the 8/8 cloud cover with type 1 clouds but it does not appear in the sim. If I use another commercial weather application with the same METAR data I get a nice overcast layer in the sim. The only difference is the cloud type is reported as type 8 and 9.http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/69003.jpghttp://forums.avsim.net/user_files/69004.jpg

Any idea what this parameter results in? Is this related to FS9 occasionally wanting to connect to the Internet? In conjunction with my AS2004, will setting this to 0 result in my not having to clear weather when starting external app weather writes?BTW, saving my flights (in a parked state for flight starts) with the Clear Weather theme outputs a clear weather call to FSUIPC when the flight is loaded as verified by the FSUIPC log file. Thanks for any clarifications.

I observe that the ground fog in my FS9 looks quite odd. Kind of unrealistic, comparable to squares. Also the sharp edges look very unnatural. Is this an FS9 issue or can I adjust anything to get natural looking fog? I am using NVidia's latest driver. Any ideas on this? Thanks a lot!!Sam

  9. Hi guys.First I have to say I'm impressed by the speed you guys got the MR1 out, everything is so much better than it was. So with this I want to apologise for being a bit harsh in a post during the beta testing a while back. You guys really came through and fixed it all in a very short time.I've been flying a bit around the world and find that a lot of airports have wrong TAF. What I mean by that is that the TAF is listed for a different airport that may be several hundred nautical miles away. This kinda ruin the whole point of using TAF processing to get more dynamic weather if the metar is old. It seems to be quite random when this happen because the TAF might change t…

Hi folks,I'm running AS2004 build 90 over WideFS using the latest registered versions of FSUIPC and WideFS.My problem is that I am not getting reduced visibility on the ground when the METAR data contains no clouds or precipitation. For example, last night 260200z weather at CYYB had Fog and 0sm visibility, but no clouds or precipitation. Sitting on the ground I had a wonderful clear night with no reduced visibility at all. Using the FSUIPC weather tool I could see that the winds were properly set, but the visibility was over 20sm. I then moved to several other airports with low visibility that had clouds or precipitation in the METAR string and the reduced visibility…

When we fetch a METAR is it stored inside FS2004 for use in case we move the aircraft there or is it information only ?It would be nice to have this operational because AI traffic at airports initiates on scenery load based on weather at current location. Sometimes local winds dictate other runway(s) in use from the one that FS9 starts with by default when moving to a certain airport. So say FS9 with nil WX starts at an airport always with rwy 36 in use and a particular day winds are 180/20. You move the aircraft there, scenery loads and AI starts using rwy 36. After you load WX with AS2004 and 180/20 becomes active AI will still use rwy 36 while you will have to use rwy 1…

Hello everyone, This is my first post, and I'd like to start by saying that I love ActiveskyWxRe and all PSS products.I've been using a purchased copy of Activesky version 1.6. I downloaded the upgrade to 1.92, but I notice that my Activesky still says its version 1.6. Is this normal, or have I done something wrong? Second, I never seem to get any winds aloft when I print a wx briefing. Is there truly a way for me to get and print winds aloft to help with my flight planning? Thanks!

greets all,i have purchased AS2004 this past weekend and have picked up a problem with the downloaded metars. they are all dated the 12th day. this has been the same everyday since saturday.does anyone have a clue what is the problem. i have tried different settings and have checked the date of my system - which is correct - and FS9 is set to use system time.another possibility is that i have stuffed something up along the way:):(.thanks in advancewayne howroyd

I fly out of quantico, just thought you might want to know something about Shannon KEZF. The AWOS there has a long standing notam about it's ceiling reporting portion. Perhaps use the brand spanking new AWOS at Stafford KRMN.

Hi... great program. Sure adds to the sim experience! Keep up the great work. Here is an improvement suggestion that is easy to implement and probably more important than most would think. It is about version display and convenient access to your web site. Here are the issues:There is no "About ActiveSky" menu pick in the app. There is no button that leads to the ActiveSky web site so I can check for news and updates. The ActiveSky web URL is not visible anywhere in the app (as far as I can tell). The ActiveSky entry in the Windows Start menu could should have a "HiFi Simulation Website" entry. Every piece of user documentation should show at the beginning the …

I have a few questions after reading the FAQ's:1.) I have Server PC with two PC Clients connected with Wideview 2004. I know I can install AS2004 on a fourth PC via WideFS. Since Wideview 2004 does not yet transfer weather to client PC's, the plan is to install separately on each PC. Is this permissible ? Or is each purchase limitied to one specific hardrive ? If so, then that is a show-stopper. By the way, I do plan to purchase the extra 1-yr download capability.2.) Are there any reviews available for AS2004 ?

  19. Hi there,I'm a recent purchaser of AS2004 and when I get the weather loaded it is very impressive! However, I keep getting AS2004 shutdowns "ActiveSky has encountered a problem and must close - send report ?"I have a new system built - P4 3.0Ghz CPU, MSI Mobo, 1GB PC3200 DDR RAM, ATI Radeon 9800 Pro 128MB graphics with Omega drivers, Western Digital 10,00rpm S-ATA drive, SoundBlaster Audigy 2 soundcard, 21" monitor,WinXP home, fully updated from Microsoft Windows Update and running broadband always on connection. As in some other posts, I noticed AS2004 fails to write the weather successfully into FS9 during a later stage of a flight, i.e. arrival. I mainly notice this by wrong winds/no winds and QNH (supression ceiling?).Setup:two PCs (Pentium 4 3.06 GHz running FS9, Pentium M 1.5 GHz running WideClient and AS2004) connected by WideFS 6.22FSUICP 3.202AS2004 1.1 90Weather set to "clear" when loading the flight.Using both SB and ATOC, weather disabled.Picture and settings enclosed. The log contains thousands of lines "waiting for FSUIPC"... even when AS is run on the PC running FS9.Any input appreciated.Kind regads,Nik

Hey new guy here...sorry if I missed the answer to this question in the thousands of posts already here.I had FS2004 on my C: drive, had to move it to my D: drive and in the process lost ActiveSky 2004. I was able to download a replacement copy but since this happened my ActiveSky Radar isn't working anymore. If I file a flight plan or manually insert an ICAO or a wx reporting station it won't track, nor will it pick up anything on it's own. The situation screen and tracking screen remain blank regardless of the weather. Any ideas?

  24. HiAre there any users that are seeing Enroute Weather Data after processing a flight plan in Australia or anywhere for that matter in active Sky 2004 Build 90 MR1, I am seeing dep and app data but never enroute it just says no prevailing and then uses the dep and arr data, am i doing something wrong.I would like to be able to know the enroute winds at levels up to FL030 is this possible or are we just locked into the forecast flight planned wind for the level that was selected when processing the flight plan. I do get winds aloft but needs lower winds for GA aircraft levels, Thanks to Jim and Damien who responded to my previous emails much appreciatedRegardsWayne
