  1. If I were to load up AS2k4, start FS9, normal procedure to get weather loaded. While on the ground, save the flight. Open the saved .flt file in notepad and change the WeatherType= from =2 to =0. Then zip that file up along with the .wx file of the same name and share it with a friend. First, how far from the start location would AS2k4 weather exist if a non-AS2k4 user were to load the flight? To ask another way, is there a radius around the aircraft where local stations are loaded initially (my recollection is that this changed around MR1)? Would you guys have any issues with distributing flights of this sort (freeware of course) if they were billed as "as2k4 previ…

Since the 1st release of ActiveSky wxRE there have been a lot of updates. I had now to reinstall the complete Fs2002 installation.Therefor: Is it necessary to (re)install every update or is it enough, only to install the initial release (1.0) and the last update (1.90) ?Servus from ViennaErnestus

I have just completed a short hop across the Gulf from Dubai to Kuwait. All was well weatherwise until I reached Kuwait. At this point the weather went into a continuos cycle of download and updating. The weather details are as follows (from AAS):Active wx: 140350zClosest Station: OKBKI recall this problem occurred from time to time earlier in the year but was fixed (I think) during the series of MR1 public betas and eventual official update.I have not altered my settings in quite a while and this problem? has just started on this flight. I will be doing more in the coming days and will advise if it continues.RgdsAndy b

I was a user of WeatherCenter2 (and ActiveSky) when flying with FS2002.I have now gone entirely with ActiveSky for 2004. I never had a "problem" with the radar display in WeatherCenter/FS2002. I know get a radar display (when rain nearby) that includes an empty "hole" in the center of the display. It extends out about 75 miles radius in all directions from my location. All the rain formations appear to be "circular" around the hole (much like looking at eye of hurricane and rain bands around eye).KInda strange. Anyone else seen this problem?Glenn D. Willmot

Hi all,I guess everybody already knows that the item "Wake turbulence simulation" in ActiveSky 2004 (build 90) options will give you problems if left on, right? It took me a while to figure it out. No matter what airplane you fly, if you have this option turned on and happen to follow an aircraft on final, your airplane will go upside down if you encounter its wake. Are they already working on it to fix this issue? Or is it something completely new nobody ever heard about? If so, can somebody else maybe do a test to verify this issue?I only have AS2004 as an add in. No FSUIPC.If you need more info let me know. Mauxus

Are you still using FS2002? Are you fed up with those overcasts with blue horizons? I need some help from Active sky WXre developers or from somebody who knows how to change some things in that program! Here are two images from FS2002. The first overcast made by Active sky WXre program (with function, that reduces visibility to 3 miles, when there is any overcast layer)And the second is made by me - it's very simple, i've reduced the visibility to 3m (as the WXre program does) and added one 1800ft whick BROKEN (7/8) clouds layer from ground to the xxxx altitude (=ground level + 1800ft), and from the xxxx altitude one overcast layer. The overcast layer must be as low as pos…

I think, that hit by mistake normal default in AS2004, not sure though. Now, after always perfect takeoffs I permanently have A-Floors with my PSS A330-200. Can't do anything. I posted in the PSS forum and Bob Scott replied that have to check settings if I use an external weather program. Well, this is the case and he might be right: Quote:"Also, a decreasing-headwind/increasing-tailwind shear induced by a wx add-on can do the same...you are especially susceptible during takeoff and climbout. If there's a wind layer close to the ground causing the IAS to drop, that'd explain it. I doubt it's dynamics, either PSS' or mine"I don't know which settings in AS2004 I might have …

ActiveSky stops responding while I am trying to import a flightplan. This morning, I used the exact same plan, and everything worked fine. Now, using the same plan, the program is completely locked up. I have gotten this problem a few times now since I purchased the program, but lately it seems much more frequent. By the way, there is nothing wrong with my connection as far as I can tell. I have been listening to Internet streaming radio the whole time, and that would not play smoothly if my connection was having problems. Could someone explain why I have this problem, and how to fix it?

I just purchased ActiveSky last weekend and I've just been doing some local flights to see how it works. It defintely provides much better weather visuals than default. The problem I'm having is that I'm still getting rapid weather changes. I have online updates on, TAF processing enabled and visibilty smoothing enabled. I also have suppression enabled with a ceiling of 10,000 and range of 70 miles. For example, I just took off out of KSJC with some scattered clouds around 2500 feet. Things looked great on the ground with about 10 mile visibility. As I climbed out, visibilty quickly became unlimited and I had clouds that disappeared. As I came back around to land,…

I thought I'd do a quick test flight with my new WideFS setup, so I didn't read the As2004 weather before carrying out this short flight London - Edinburgh. I think I should have.At least from this experience I discovered that my FS9 realism settings were not set up correctly, as I SHOULD have ended up as a pile of nuts and bolts, spread across the fields North of London. The ASI is showing Indicated airspeed, and not True airspeed BTW.I re-booted AS2004 to fix it, and continue with a normal flight! :DWith that speed and rate of climb, I opt for Boeing to develop the next space shuttle!http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/74994.jpghttp://forums.avsim.net/user_files/74997.jp…

I got AS 1.92 for the weather accuracy. For the last three weeks , all I'm getting is surface conditions. It's either wind aloft 0/0/0, or the initial window declaring problems with the server, which will be ok asap.Come on, guys. Wake up and FIX this annoying problem. At least the default fs2002 rw weather is consistent- no server problems here. In the meantime, I'm using freeware metar programs as a sub for AS.Really disappointed.Eytan Ornstein

Hello,Installed and followed the directions for setting up FS2004 and FSUIPC. The weather does not match (i.e. if it's overcast, the clouds are partly cloudy, etc.). This happens in every location. Also my frame rates have been cut in half from 30-40 fps to 5-15 with clouds in view. The 122.00 voice freq. weather does not match the station weather. It will say KLEX 5000 overcast 8 miles vis and the actual AS2004 metar is 4500 overcast and 10 miles. What are the recommended settings in both AS2004 and Fight Sim that may fix these problems? I am currently (042053Z) setting up a flight from Birmingham (EGBB) but there appears to be a problem with the barometric pressure.METAR shows Q0974 RERA but the PMDG 737-800 shows correct airport altitude at std pressure of 1013HPa.AS is sending weather to FS9 via Widefs, current version of Widefs & FSUIPC, both registered. The weather looks about right, showers, FEW030CB, 07/05.Another anomaly is the wind.AS indicates 18006KT in the METAR, no indication yet in PMDG but FSNav is showing 289/6.AS METAR shows 041950Z.Online updates enabled from the Hi-Fi server and a route has been entered, not that I would have thought that would affect departure weatherI have never co…

Don't know if you can help or not, but the WC2 support page does not seem to be working. Do you have a server problem?I have a query concerning the Flight Planning mode of WC2.The documentation (extract below) states to save a flight plan using the Flight Simulator default extension of .FLT. This is in fact not the default extension for a Flight Plan but the default for a 'situation', which is not the same. The normal extension for an FS flight plan is .PLN. WC2 does not seem to recognise .PLN when trying to load a flight plan into WC2. Does this mean that you have to save the flight plan twice, once with the normal .PLN (for use within FS) and then with the extensio…
