I read about another weather engine program and wonder now, if I have really bought the intended software. Are these two programs from the same developper? does it make sense to have them both?Thank you very much!Sam

Hey!I'm courius about a thing and I hope to get anwers; When I'm flying in AS2004-weather and it's a clear sky with just a few clouds, visibility is not unlimited and not foggy. This I think is very realistic. When I get just over 10.000 feet everything stops beeing realistic and gets a unlimited visibility. I want the weather-visibility to be like it was under 10.000ft. Could somebody help me?Aleksander Berge

Hello,I admire the features of your 2004 product, its just great. Though last days its not working as it should. I am currently running it via WideFS and everything is configured at both sides correctly. Thats not the case indeed, because its messing in my local PC as well. So, the problem is that it downloads weather nicely, says that writing data to FSUIPC and then Update Complete. But nothing happens in my FS, winds are still zero and no clouds appear. But then 2nd time I got nice rainy realistic weather again just as it should be. Then, again no action 3rd time when running FS. What could it be? Thanks!

Hi,I'm running ActiveSky in preflight briefing mode (IOW, I haven't started FS yet), and I'm having a couple of problems with the information I'm getting. Problem 1: Right now, it's 07 Apr. 1839Z, but the reported WX is for 062153Z, late even by Vatsim standards. This time and report is not changed by toggling the VATSIM weather checkbox. I've even tried restarting AS2004 with the checkbox checked, and unchecked, no change. Here's the briefing log:http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/70393.jpgSo, is there a problem with the HiFi WX data server? This is the first time I've had this problem since I bought AS2004...NOAA METAR site says this:KMTJ 071653Z AUTO 15004KT 10SM CLR 14…

Greetings all!I'm not trying to be negative or anything, but I am suffering a massive framerate hit with AS2004. I have read the manual front to back several times using the settings suggested therein, done a search on this forum under "framerates" and followed the suggestions posted...all to no avail. I am a registered used of this product and FSUIPC. I also am a registered user of the WxRe version of ActiveSky for FS2002.I am currently running an Athlon AMD XP 2500+, 512Ram, ATI Radeon 9200 128MB graphics card. I have WinXP Home Edition as my OS, and there are no programs (including anti-virus) running in the background when I'm simming. I have my framerates locked at 2…

Hi folks,Sitting on the ground at CYHZ with AS2004 at 051835z yields the following METAR string.CYHZ 000000Z AUTO 13005KT 10SM SCT050 SCT150 05/01 A2990 RMK AUTO GENERATED AS2004A fetch of any other airport results in a hung application and end task.Is there a data problem with this cycle?

I think I am seeing improvment with LLBG, LLOV and LLET performance. I'm not sure if you did anything or this is just luck, but it seems better over the past two days. However, I never got a reading from LLIB, LLSD, LLJR.Are those on the database?

Hi guys... Didn't see this mentioned anywhere so I thought I'd ask...When using TAF processing for dynamic weather in AS2004, how does it handle conditional lines like TEMPO, BCMG and PROB?I'm guessing the PROB condition should be easy to parse, since it is usually a PROB30 or PROB40, and BCMG would fit nicely into the dynamic processor, but what about TEMPO? Hi,I have installed the latest MR, from scratch, and ActiveRadar has packed up. It was working with one of the releases this week, but the latest, or possibly even one or two back, release has broken it. It is the common problem of not picking up the weather, nearest station is 1000m away, no precipitation on the situation mode, and weather not available on the planning mode.I decided to clean up my installation, uninstalled all the releases, installed the initial release, and then the latest MR. I hacked the registry to set the path on the FS machine, as I had done previously because the install script does not work. Interestingly, the install script blew up slightly dif…

Are the connection problems through WideFS now resolved ? I am thinking about upgrading but the thought of a full FS9 reinstall to get AS2004 to work through WideFS is not an option. Please advise.Mark.

I would like to thank you for your great customer support. I wrote a question about a reinstall of active sky on a new computer a few threads down-your response was immediate and totally helpful-and I am back up and running. That is more than I can say for a few other vendors I have bought from-who made it like finding a needle in a haystack to get set back up and running. Thanks for a great product and super support to go along with it-now happily back to flying!http://mywebpages.comcast.net/geofa/pages/rxp-pilot.jpg

Hi Damian and JimI just come back to this forum after a long time troubleshooting my computer for randomly corrupted files. Eventually, I had to replace my hard drive after having backed up my data. The consequence was that I jumped from build 81 to build 90, and wow ! what a difference ! The weather simulation is now almost perfect, and I really enjoy flying with AS2004. So, many thanks for the hard work and for reading all the reports.I have a question about the best way to simulate the dynamic weather : I see two ways of doing it : first with online updates, and second is TAF processing. (A third way is with both options enabled). Which is the best way ? Can some simme…

Since the other wind shift thread is getting a little on the "full" side, I decided to open a fresh one with my observations concerning the still sometimes occurring wind shifts.1.) The wind shifts are not area related, even though South Africa, where I fly to a lot sometimes has sketchy metars (Lots of ///////), the wind shifts happend on transatlantic flights from Zurich (LSZH)into KATL, KJFK, SBGL (Rio de Janeiro), as well as flights from Zurich (LSZH) to Cape Town (FACT), Sydney (YSSY) to Hong Kong (VHHH), Hong Kong (VHHH) to San Francisco (KSFO). All flights were planned using FSBuild 2.2 and the PSS A340.2.) Contrary to my initial belief that the wind shifts happen …

GreetingsI cannot get the weather radar working. The tracking is fine but no radar. I believe this problem was raised in two other threads, one went to "private e-mail" and other one was solved when the author "swapped out" files. Well, the problem rears its head again. Do you have any suggestions? Any help would be appreciated so that I can enjoy all the functions of your great program. Thanks in advanceCheersMA Erina

Markus Brunner has a utility in the library known as AI Contrail which parses aircraft.cfg files, modifies the temperature at which contrails are generated in FS9 by the plane, and can alter which effect file used for the contrail. Ken Salter's FS9 Configurator will also alter the temperature for contrail formation in *all* aircraft, Markus' allows selection of aircraft by engine type. That aside:The length of the contrail is determined within the effect file by a duration parameter, which can easily be modified. If proper data is available for conditions aloft, really just relative humidity or dewpoint, and of course temperature, and an average vapor pressure can be c…

Though no fault of mine my motherboard burned out on my computer-I had to buy a completely new system.I have gotten everything reinstalled-except for active sky. I was able to copy my flightsim directory with the active sky folder to the new drive-but activesky will not work. I can't reinstall as I purchased the upgrade to the original-running the upgrade install program states that I have to have the original-which has already been overwritten with the new?!I just read the faq:How do I get a new download link? You must request one from SimMarket (www.simmarket.com). There is a small fee for providing this service (if you did not purchases the 1-year download service progr…
