Will it provide a true overcast layer in Flight Sim 2004? I am unable to achieve this with FS04's built in weather. I can always see a little bit of the ground regardless of vis/ceiling settings. Thank you.

Hi Damian and crew, while flying online, while it doesn't happen all the time, it's entirely possible to end up with a different cruise alt than what was filed. What is the impact of flying at a different cruise alt when processing route weather in AS (for example, FP calls for FL350 but you end up at FL210 or FL390?)For that matter, what is the impact of the alt entry when AS computes the smoothing? Does it mean smoothing only works at this alt?Thx,

Hi,i use two PC's. the first PC runnig FS2004, the second PC WideFS. I read in the manual AS can run on the second PC using WideFS. Is it also possible runnig ActivRadar Screen on the second PC? or can AR only run on the FS PC?RegardsMavPat

Hi all,I have got the problem where my weather is changing right in front of me ie clouds disapearing or appearing. It happens all the time not at any particular point in the flight, it is happening with Vatsim weather as I have been flying online (Not sure about offline). The last flight I did the weather code "031150Z" Not sure if it is because I have done something wrong in the setup so just in case here are my settings//AS2004 configuration file[General]WindowPosX = 2280WindowPosY = 6825DefaultWeatherFolder = D:Program FilesMicrosoft GamesFlight Simulator 9ModulesActiveSky2004SuppressionCeiling = 2000SurfaceWindLimit = 10CloudLayerLimit = 5LocalSuppressionRange = 100M…

Does Active Radar cause a perfomance hit even when it is minimized? It seems like it does. I see a drop when it is displayed, then when I minimize it, FPS goes up, but not back to the initial level. It's only when I turn the radar off, that the frame rates return to normal.I'm guessing that this is how it is supposed to work since there is still updating going on behind the scenes? Great program....it really adds a lot to FS9! Thanks!

Hi guys. Wonder if you can answer a question.I only ever fly online with VATSIM. In ActiveSky 2004 I have the "VATSIM Online Weather" option checked, also "Online Updates", which is set to 15 mins. TAF processing is disabled. However, when I compare the METAR that is being used by VATSIM for my location, it is different to the METAR shown in the AS interface. We VATSIM users are used to METARS being up to a couple of hours old, and when I was at LSGG last night the VATSIM METAR according to Servinfo showed LSGG 302020Z, whereas the AS interface showed LSGG 302230Z. I've noticed this a couple of times before, but last night it meant my flight plan was all wrong as I ha…

When I use the "tracking" feature in AR the barametric pressure always reads 29.92. I was at KMDW and the baro was 3004. The update text message said 3004. The update when I hit the "B" key was 3004. When I looked at tracking for KMDW it read 29.92. How did I mess this up?.

There was a post here recently regarding rain from clear skies...however that was with wxRE. Regardless, that exact thing happened to me on a flight from KLEB to KLGA yesterday using AS2004.To wit:http://cobweb.dartmouth.edu/~gridlock/RainAS2k4-A.jpghttp://cobweb.dartmouth.edu/~gridlock/RainAS2k4-B.jpghttp://cobweb.dartmouth.edu/~gridlock/RainAS2k4-D.jpgThe weather was downloaded at 14Z, but I was flying at about 01Z with TAF processing enabled. I use FSUIPC (reg'd) v3.212 with weather minimums +random cloud turb +random cirrus. The current snapshot and .dat file are here.AS2k4 said:Top box:KEEN 290027Z 20008KT P6SM BKN250 RMK AUTO GENERATED AS2004 RMK AUTO GENERATED AS2…

Hi,while running AS2004, I have NONE problems, all is going well. But as soon AS2k4 does a update online and writes the data info FS9 and FSUIPC, my framerates are dropping extremly low! And when I am just flying with a powerfull addon aircraft like PMDG B737-900 at a time compression of 4x, the framerates drops down to 1 fps and my FS9 gets uncontrollable, so does the Boeing I am flying the most these days! That is only when AS2004 updates...Do you have any idea what causes this or how to solve this problem? How can I do a LOOOONG trip with time compression without being at my screen all the time monitoring what FS9 does???

Hi,I am wondering whether the new release of the weather maker SDK by Microsoft will make your life easier in correcting the well known bug you have been fighting against for months. On another subject. I read recently in another thread that Activeradar.dll make FPS drop by a substantial number even if Activeradar is not working. I did a few test last night and can now confirm that if I leave Activeradar.dll in the module folder without starting ActiveRadar my FPS drop to 22 - 20 whereby if I remove Activeradar.dll from the module folder I get 30+ FPS. Is there a logical explanation to this and is there a remedy other than removing ActiveRadar all together.Michael

Hi.I am looking to purchase a weather package for FS2004.Does AS allow for manual entry of real-world Metar and/or TAF report data? Or is it purely server download based?Thanks.David.

Hi all!I use AciveSky WXRE for fs2002 on a network (Main computer FS2002, second computer Project Magenta ABGC PFD/NAV-Display, third computer PM EICAS-Display and ActiveSky.Is it possible to show the ActiveSky weather data on the NAV-Display of ABGC? If yes, how can I do it?Thanks for your help!!Paul

I am sure this will have been discussed before, however, after loading AS2004 and FS2004 chosing my preffered base EGCC(Manchester), AS2004 comes up with the actual metar but FS does not recognise the real weather for several minutes. Mean while it is sending the traffic the wrong way and often results in traffic using both ends of the runway simultaneously. Any ideas?

Damian (and the Team),Having had ActiveSky for about a month and a half now, I have to say that it produces some of the most beautiful weatherscapes I have seen in FS! Its a nice programme. However, I have been experiencing continual shutdowns since installation.I have tried everything from uninstalls to re-installs and updating to version 1.1 then going back again. I have used the default FS2004 Beech Baron in various places (with add-on scenery and without it) and have followed the manual to the letter to load the programme, but it continually wants to shutdown with the message "AS has encountered a problem and needs to shut down " I get the option to send or don't s…

Here's a problem... I usually create the flightplan in FSNAVigator, export, import, usual deal. However, if I want to manually enter a flightplan for weather to be accurate along my route, why is it I can only enter airports in the Weather Planning phase of AR? There are options for VOR NDB, and FIX, if I select for instance VOR for a vor that is identified as INX, I select search, nothing, I select update all, nothing. Any help or ideas? Thanks.Miklos

Just a shortmail to tell you how much I like using ActiveSky 2004. Often I am really astonished about the beautiful weather that it creates. For me a "must have" addon for FS2004.Just to be sure: the latest version is the 1.1 edition build 90?Thanks in advance.Marco Bruno

Hello all,We have received a few reports of invalid winds aloft values being depicted, either excessive wind speeds, zero wind and/or very low temps in AS2004.We have been tracking this since last week and after examining server logs, we have found a few intermittent data source problems that as of now appear to have cleared up.We are still trying to isolate the exact problem and develop a work-around for any future situation like this. We are also in the progress of upgrading our HiFi server system and incorporating more redundancy in data collection processes. The goal is to provide the most stable and fail-safe system possible. We hope you'll agree that despite the …

Okay, under normal operating conditions, clear skys, no rain or clouds and AS2004 active, frame rate is 26-34 fps. I transition to an area of light rain, dense low clouds and frame rate goes to 5....after takeoff, bouncing between 5 and 8. Herky jerky.....can't fly with this.I'm running an Intel 2.8 ghz (hyperthread) and Radeon 9600 Pro.What's the fix? Don't fly in cloudy/rain conditions?? I understood that AS2004 did not slow down FS2004. It does, big time.

I was flying between London and Rome today at 31000. At this sort of level, the temperature should be well below zero, yet it was +14 C. I had a hell of a time getting to FL310; I was at 500fpm or less for the last 6 or 7000 feet.Any help would be appreciated.-Phil

I find, as a matter of personal preference, that I don't use the route-based wind smoothing. I prefer the wind shifts to the "average" that ActiveSky creates to smooth out the changes. My question is therefore whether it is necessary to load the route into AS. Is the purpose of loading the route for wind-smoothing only, or does it serve other purposes, eg to load up weather area ahead of you? Does AS load the weather all around you anyway? I've founf before that even without a route loaded, I am clearly flying into different weather areas. I've got local range suppression enabled at 100nm.Cheers!Bruce.

Beautiful saturday morning. I woke up and decided to take short local trip on the route EPWA-EPSC. I start FS, my PMDG737 is parked at the gate with everything shutdown and parking brake set. Then i start AS2004 (MR1) and after few seconds when the actual weather is set into FS my 737 ... lifts off from the ground to about 3000ft and sails!. The wind as shows by Shift+Z is 096/99, i assume it's more than 200 kts.I look up AS window and the loaded METAR looks:EPWA 240900Z ///08KT 6000 RA SCT006 BKN033 09/08 Q1015 NOSIGI realize this is next AS bug and i can do nothing about it (parser is unable to handle '///08KT'). I try to use VATSIM METARs, but with no luck. I'm unable …

Greetings all!I am having a weird occurance in FS9. Anytime I'm in cloud at or near freezing or below freezing temps, I will lose my airspeed indicator due to pitot icing. What is strange about this, is that it happens regardless of my having hit the "shift + H" keys, or appropriate switches depending on the aircraft involved long before I encountered icing conditions. I have to "cycle" the pitot heat switch a couple of times to get the pitot tube to clear. This happens on everything from propliners to regional jets.I don't think ActiveSky has anything to do with this, but I thought I'd throw the question out here on this forum anyway.Btw, I am a registered owner of AS2004…
