Hi, DamianI posted this afternoon about the subject of sudden nearby cloud disappearance. I succeeded in catching such an event, and trying to give you as much info as possible.Flight plan is : LFML-TRETS-LUC-STP-LERMA-OMARD-MERLU-SODRI-BTA-DOKAR-KISTO-LIRSThe event occurred between SODRI and BTA. The nearest weather station was LFKB, and the wx file is 100950Z (from past saturday) Five files are joined : the fsuipc.ini and as2004.ini, the fsuipc.log including the event, and two pics showing the clouds before and after the event.Hope all this can help to pinpoint the problemRegards Alain

The procedure for using AS2004 is to start the flight with the clear weather theme, alt-tab to the desktop to start AS, which sets the weather in FS9, then return to FS9. Now, will FS9 change the active runway based on the updated wind direction? Seems like more often than not, when the winds would tend to favor runways like 18L ATC at DFW continues to use 36R. I'm wondering if 36R gets selected initially because the clear weather theme has zero wind, and FS9 will not change it once the weather has been updated by AS2004.

Hi, Love the program, it's a beauty. Still having problems with destination weather though, even after installing the latest patch and ensuring the settings are as recommended in the update both with the program and FSUIPC. Weather still changes within the last few miles of the airport, usually on final approach. Read in your update about a forced update at 200nm but not sure what this is accomplishing exactly. The Suppression Ceiling, no matter what I set it at, never appears to prevent updates. If I try with the suppression update feature off, it still is changing weather repeatedly as I near the destination. Hmmmm, I wonder if I understand the suppression …

Hi there, just to throw in my two cents of experiences with AS 2004. I had a lot of windshears before the alpha release, they are pretty much gone now, even on a large flight from Vienna to Cancun, 10 to 15 degrees were the severest shifts I experienced with nearly no changes in the wind speed. I still have clouds suddenly disappearing and when I look back, I can't see them anymore, from my part this would be the only issue to work on...greetings

Hi,In the AS2004 user manual, here is the definition of Suppression Range : Suppression RangeWhen using Local Range Suppression, writes to stations within this range will be prevented at all times (except when on the ground). This prevents sudden changes of visible weather from occurring during updates. My question is why "except on the ground" ?When I'm on the ground in my real plane, I still look at the sky after having heard weather forecast. I still look at the sky because the atmosphere is the most important thing when you are in a plane. When you are on the ground you can decide not to go at the last time if you think that this big cumulonimbus is really going right h…

Hi,I've just bought ActiveSky (two weeks ago)and I discovered a major restriction to this program.IT'S IMPOSSIBLE TO GENERATE A SUMMER TYPE WEATHER.Every time i try to download an archive file from, let's say, June or July, I got a message :"The weather file for the specified date range was not found...."Wouaw. So I bought a weather software 30 euros and you only can fly in winter. (archive files before 15/12/03 can't be downloaded). Shall I wait until June to fly in a summer weather ?Thanks for the answer.

I just did a flight from EDDF to Bucharest, Romania using AC2004. I had a couple of problems starting out (see other post) but when i did i had the most awesome flight. The weather at EDDF was wet and windy with heavy clouds. Visibility was also low. I took off and watched as i disappeared into the grey murky clouds. As i climbed up the clouds visibility improved so i could see a nice blue sky above. The way AC2004 depicted this was excellent. With the FS weather normally at a couple of thousand feet the visibility goes clear and you can look back and see the airport clearly and 100 miles around even though you took off in murky conditions. As i climbed to 20000ft the c…

I finally got ActiveRadar installed (although the ActiveRadarConnecter2.exe failed and I had to manually move the files across as per an earlier post I found in this forum). Installed FSUIPC is 3.14 (Registered), WideFS 6.101; default INI file with the sole exception of the items recommended at the top of this forum (baro and visibility smoothing on)ActiveRadar loads, but I do not have any precip returns in either Basic or Composite mode on the Situation dislpay. The METAR at KSEA at the time was:KSEA 130256Z 16003KT 3SM -RA BR SCT012 OVC014 06/06 A3014 RMK AO2 SLP210 P0005 60015 T00610061 51023The wind indicator was correctly showing the winds to be 160 and 3 knots. I've been trying to get Active Radar working in FS9 but it doesn't seem to want to load the flight plans. I have followed the instructions/steps word for word in the AS2004 Manual, and everything goes as instructed until I go to load the flight plan in Active Radar itself. I click on the MSFS button in the PLANNING screen. It says to hit 'UPDATE ALL' to update everything, so I do....and nothing happens! The flight plan is valid, and works in AS2004 fine, but for some reason Active Radar won't do anything with it.Anyone have any tips or help for this issue?Cheers,Jeremy

Hi,I am really enjoying ActiveSky - its really improved the whole FS experience. Two quick questions - does AS simulate carb icing in any way? Or does it simulate the build up of Ice on the aircraft?Second a techie question - how does the file system work for saving downloaded files? If you download a weather file today at say 1800 does that mean that yesterdays downlaod will be overwritten? If so can you give it a new name in any way or can you create some folders to store diferent weather files? Thanks.Keith

Hi guys!As you know I was plagued by the cloud issue when I was using WXre. Well I had upgraded to AS2004 when you released it and much to my dismay I still had the issues. So I tweaked and experimented and was able to alleviate a fram rate issue, but the clouds still liked to play "now you see me, now you don't". I also had an issue for awhile where the weather didn't match real world conditions.Well, yesterday I peeked into the forum and saw that you guys had released a Alpha upgrade. I did a clean install of AS2004 and applied the update. Here's what I can report: WORKING AS ADVERTISED!!!!!!! I've been flying all morning up and down the North East without a hitch. At on…

This evening I flew from KDFW to KAMA, which wx brief showed as low vis and low ceiling, and the weather upon arrival was pretty much as reported, and the ATIS at the time seemed to be in agreement. Nowhere near miniums, but it sure had me working to do better than my usual somewhat sloppy ILS approaches. Very cool! The overcast on the way in was fantastic.I exited FS9 in order to log the flight and to take a short break before the return trip . When I started up again, and started AS2004 (with alpha patch), this is the METAR given for KAMAKAMA 160202Z 16006KT 2 1/2SM BR OVC003 06/06 A2996 RMK AO2 CIG 001V006which is just right for the earlier conditions. Hi, I have a problem to make AS2004 work correctly with smooth cloud change while the weather update. I have no problem beetween stations when the weather is loaded. Each station send its own weather parameter and the change from one station to another is totally correct and smooth. My problem is with an online connection. When the weather changes due to the periodical update from internet, clouds don't smoothly forms or dissipates like they do with perfection in FS2004. In AS2004, they suddenly and definitly appears or disappears (which is absolutely unreal). I'm very surprised nobody talked about that problem on this forum. Can anybody give me some informations to solve…

Hi guys, I purchased my AS2004 few days ago and so far been very pleased with it, especially weather radar is a very nice feature. I was going for FSMeteo, but since I've used AS 1.5 free version with fs2002 long time I decided to give the guys a credit ;) Anyway, since I fly all my flights at VATSIM and I have dual-HW for audio I have one question (or more like RFE, request for enhancement). Is it possible to select what HW is used for Voice ATIS (which I like very very much)? Now my voice-ATis goes to main speakers, which is not good, when you have you headphones and mic on...I'm pretty sure AS2004 uses default audio device, which is the same as what FS2004 is using -&g…

I noticed that after installing AS, sometimes my computer just boots out of fs2004 without warning. Rarely its tells me that "FS9 has encountered an error and do I want to report it" It seems the culprit stated is nt.dll. Anyone know anything about this, or is it just me? By the way, I have not downloaded the Alpha patch, as that I am waiting for the "official" patch.
