Hi,As requested in the above post by Damien, I have experienced clouds popping in and out at the following airports:YBCS - Cairns Intl - AustraliaYMML - Melbourne Intl - Australiaas well as most of the way up the East Coast of Australia. I have had Global Writes both on and off with not much change in experience.Additionally, yesterday, when flying from Darwin (YPDN) to Cairns (YBCS) the clouds and weather looked great. About half way (just after Groote Eylandt (YGTE) flying on the airway J61 (Dar-Cairns) all clouds disapeared for about a 200 nm stretch and then reappeared. I had Global Writes ON. The weather for the day had cloud cover along the entire route.I do lik…

Hello, I am an owner of AS2004 and am quite satisfied with it.What I am not satisfied with, however, is the way in which FS2004 renders unlimited visibility. FS2004 seems to have a limitation where the detailed ground textures are drawn up to only 50 miles from the aircraft, so you can see the sharp line where the detailed textures turn into the fuzzier distant texture. I found this phenomenon can be eliminated by reducing the visibility to 50 miles (instead of unlimited). However, the FS2004 engine is also set up so that if you fly over the visibility layer, then the visibility goes to unlimited which I hate.To make a long story short, is there any chance the next rel…

Second time of asking since I recieved no reply from anyone the first time.Is there any way of toning down this effect or refining the engine? I'm sick and tired of finishing a flight in a flaming wreck because my A330/A340 has been downed by wake turbulance from a Cessna or Moony Bravo. This is quite simply NOT RIGHT.I rarely experience any WT following any other aircraft but for some reason the small single props manage to spoil my day. I do fly with adequate seperation but nearly always experience this OTT effect when following a light single (upto 10NM behind) which 9 times out of 10 causes complete loss of control. The other issues I'm not worried about because they …

Hi all,A few days ago we suggested that users having severe wind shift issues please try turning OFF global writes. In doing that, we verified that the wind situation does improve (slightly), but the core issue is in fact is related to another thing entirely (which we are working on). It is thus recommended to turn ON global writes to avoid cloud problems that can occur as a result of disabled globals. In a few days we plan on starting official beta of the first maintenance release, and will release shortly after. This will address the issues with wind and cloud transitions as well as some other remaining issues found post-release.Thank you everyone for your input and p…

Hello Damian, After purchasing your new weather program I was very pleased to see it works so well! My compliments to you and your team, but ... I have a strange thing (in the software). After installing and setting both AS2004 en FSUIPC (reg. 3.135) I start first FS, set my test-flight (from EGNX to EHAM) load the flightplan and set to go (clean FSUIPC as mentioned in the manual). Than I start AS2004, load the flightplan, return to FS and go into the sky! I fly a A320-200 and this kind of plane you can only fly (good) on the autopilot. For the first 4 min. all goes well but than the IAS drops (only the readout) to zero and the plane goes down. With your other program (WX …

Hello everyone,We are currently ahead-of-schedule for a Jan 15th release of the first maintenance release for AS2004 (MR1).We have identified the following issues which will be addressed:- Problem with route-based wind smoothing where loading a flight plan would occasionally lead to weather condition inconsistency. It is recommended to TURN OFF route-based wind smoothing until MR1 is available.- Occasional sharp wind transitions. In certain areas writing wind information to the global area can cause strange wind issues and 180 degree direction changes. This has been isolated to a combination problem with global handling and FSUIPC NWI weather writes. We are working wi…

Here are some screenshots of some of my problems. It just so happened that this flight the problems were not as drastic, but they are still there. I took Damian's advice and things seemed to improve slightly. I also deleted my FSUIPC.INI file as someone suggested...not sure why though......anyway the screenshots labeled PDXect..are departing from KPDX. Conditions were supposed to be no clouds until overcast at 24900-26900ft. The LASect shots are on arrival at KLAS. I took them immediately after I noticed differences in visibility or clouds. This was not nearly as bad as I expereinced in SEA yesterday, but the visibility dropped a little. Online METAR was saying w…

Ok, I am completely tired of what has been going on with my AS2004. First off I would like to say thanks to the people that have tried to help me out. Customer service has been great and the forum has helped too. I have tried everything suggested. Today on flight from KOAK-KSEA, i had the worst experience. Cloud pop ups once I got to cruise. NO SMOOTH TRANSITIONS AT ALL!! The only thing that seemed to be reported correctely was while on the ground at KOAK. It was raining heavily and low visibility. It was like that until 5000ft when I broke out. Yet when I looked back, there was no overcast. I was seeing ground. But thats ok i guess considering I am flying for…

First off, AS2004 is working great for me. The WX radar is fantastic as well. A question though, any plans to add a WX radar that will work on the WideFS computer? I think this would be a pretty big solution for anyone who's experiencing a FPS hit.

Hi I've just purchased AS2004. It started working, but now when i run AS2004 i get a error message that says: " Error initialising - Check your INI file!" After i've clicked ok, the AS2004 screen is displayed. I am online, fs9 is running, positioned at Cardiff (EGFF) The Closest station report is 99999999nm where it should be about 1nm. The bottom 3 boxes show a weather report, but all three boxes start with the word invalid.Any suggestions?Cheers Ben Rudder

Hi Damian and Jim !I read attentively all the posts regarding the clouds pop-up (or pop-down) transitions, because I experienced that a couple of times, and it cancels all the realism that you can get otherwise with AS2004. I know how much it is difficult to track a bug in a piece of code, so I decided to try to reproduce reliably one such transition in order to give you as much info as possible. The flight is LUBL to LHGD (see flight plan annexed). The airplane is the default King Air 350. The only add-on is FSNav. The weather download is 23 Dec 1200Z. The nearest METAR station from LUBL is LRIA, with the following METAR : LRIA 231130Z 32005MPS 3000 -SN BR BKN007 OVC070 0…

I have noticed that one should definitely _not_ change the options while flying. Changing the options while in flight has caused me to experience the crazy winds shifts twice. The only way I can stop it once it starts is to shutdown AS and restart, then reload the flight plan, refresh. I tried just clearing the weather (via FSUIPC) and refreshing AS, but no dice - the winds will 'spin around the dial' at varying intensities. As for the request, it seems there needs to be separate sets of options for Online and Offline modes, some combo's just don't make sense or work. Maybe there could be a two separate default setups, plus user configurable option sets. That way one …

Hi!I have Vatsim online weather and online updates ticked. But the metars are always 1-1,5 hour ahead of what the controllers have and what servinfo shows. The as2004.ini says VATSIMData=true. Down at the bottom of the AS2004 window where the applications actions are reported I can see it says that it fetches the weather from Hifidatanet or something. Anyone else seen this? If so, any solution?

While flying from San Juan to Nevis, I loaded my FP into the route planner for AS and processed. All of the stations that were reported in the briefing were correct, but when it came time to fly, the stations that actually displayed weather were incorrect. Two examples:TJSJ was reported as KSJU (there is a SJU VOR)TIST was reported as KSTT (there is a STT VOR)Perhaps the VOR identifers conflicted with something inside AS? Something to look into anyway. ;)Secondly, what's the trick to get destination weather to click in before your on the ground. AS will not update my weather to match the destination until AFTER I'm on the ground. Not good if your trying to pick the right …

Flew a pretty good flight this morning after tweaking more of the weather variables in FS2004 to try and get my observed cloud conditions. It was working pretty good with a 3 layer BKN and OVC deck out of central Louisiana this morning with heavy rain, when I hit a AUTO Metar and it went clear because they were not able to report any ceilings. Blew the realism real fast, activeradar had a big clear black circle in it. As I left the area things started to sock back in. I would really like an option to disable these reports since they are so darn inaccurate and mess with smoothing and realism. ThanksSteve
