Flew last night from KSTL to KBWI and was at FL330 and FL370. About 45 minutes into the 2 hr flight, the 737 starting getting buffeted pretty severely. Airspeed started jumping all over the place, at times making it go to overspeed. A/T couldn't control smoothly. Aircraft kept yawing left to right. Had wind smoothing enabled, could find nothing set out of the ordinary. Tried to update weather again.....same. This happened all the way down to about 2,000 ft approaching KBWI. I thought the wind smoothing routines were supposed to prevent this sort of thing from happening. Is there something I might not have set right or is there still a bug in the wind smoothing?By the way, …

I am relatively new to Active Sky but have thoroughly enjoyed it and have learned a great deal from following everyone's troubleshooting in the forum. I enjoy developing flightplans in FS Navigator but I don't see a way for these plans to be imported into ActiveSky. When I convert them to FS9 Plans it looks like every waypoint is treated as cruise altitude in the NavLog, including the destination airport. Is there a way around this so that the windspeeds at each waypoint reflect the proper flight plan altitude in NavLog? This would then make the final cumulative flight-time quite accurate. Thanks,DD

Hi everyone,Thanks so much for your feedback so far with B132!We have made several improvements and fixes and we are currently privately testing B136. The current revision log is below...We have also received a new test version of FSUIPC from Pete, which should help in eliminating problems with Direct Wind Control that some users (very few) are experiencing. The important enhancements:* New download routines for better performance* New FS9 haze depiction option (can use it on or off, with complete vertical transition smoothing by AS2004) * Name/version of ActiveSky 2004 MR2 v1.2 changed. New name is simply AS2004.5.We'll be testing B136 and the new FSUIPC test over the n…

Just got AS2004 recently and enjoy it very much. I am still, however, ironing out the settings and making them correct and to my liking.I am flying right now from KABQ to KSLC and thanks to FSBrowser I can post while I cruise :)Anyways just now I saw the clouds out my window pop as AS2004 updated the weather? I have my 3D clouds drawn out to 40mi, and have the local range suppression in AS2004 set at 50 miles. But I saw the clouds "pop" (instant redraw of that portion of the sky as AS2004 updated and re-wrote the weather?) in the distance? Maybe I have some setting wrong or a conflict in FSUPIC (I have the registered version)Any ideas on what could be wrong? I did a …

I've flown 2 flights with the new beta and am still trying how to configure the visibility in AS & FSUIPC. Visibility smoothing was enabled in AS, but even at FL390, you could hardly make out the horizon or the groung as it always was so hazy. With the MR2 release, if you didn't have the graduated visibility checked in FSUIPC, then at higher FL's it would clear up and you would actually see blue sky. The way it is now, I have to go to spot view and look almost straight up to see any bleu skies, and this was with a CLR condition.I like the beta so far, except for this situation, and it could be just my fault for not having it set properly! Thanks!Rick

I recently upgraded to the new AS2004 MR2 B132 build and noticed that my outside air temperature is much too high. I have read the manual and set the FSUIPC and default settings as recomended in the manual. I also looked at the reports for the Seattle area tonight in the Active Sky nav log and they had said the air temperature at FL330 was -46. My PMDG 737 was showing a TAT of -11. At 26,000 the nav log said -40 and the TAT on the 737 indicated +5. I saw that some others on teh forum has similar problems in previous builds but I couldn't find any resolution. Any advice on how to fix this? Thanks. I posted my .ini contents below.//AS2004 configuration file Build 132[Genera…

Its been a few months since I used AS 2004 but last night I started it up again. I have been studying to get my PPL and am I 38 hrs now. I have learned so much about weather compared to what I did when I bought AS months ago that I wanted to put my new knowledge to work. Its possible I am down an update or so, atleast in the FSUIPC side. I am pretty sure I am on the latest update of AS.My question regarding winds aloft. When I got to aviationweather.gov or login to my DUATS account it seems the winds aloft data does not match. It seemed like AS was using older winds aloft data. This is not a hugedeal but I was just wondering if the winds aloft were supposed to be current …

good day.I have problems with my visibility in activesky. using Activesky for FS2002. have updatet to the correct version.I cant see the rwy or the aiport or the aircraft when visibility on the fsucip settings "Stop visibility below" when that is on 0 I cant see the airport, it disappearing, but if I take that on for example on 5000, then the airport is visible, but then I dont get the correct effect by activesky...I have some pictures who I am attackinghttp://forums.avsim.net/user_files/87609.jpg.and I tried some test with the FSUICP file (have the latest version and latest direct x version.I f I am removing the "Apply surface visibility limits" then it work fine, but th…

I am not sure if it is AS 2004 or FS itself, but I have followed my standard procedure to load the weather.(1) Load FS and Flight Situation(2) Load Flight Plan in FS(3) Set AI Traffic % to 0On Networked PC using WideFS...(4) Load WideFS(5) Load AS 2004 (Paused Mode)(6) Refresh AS 2004 Writes to FS 2004(7) New Route(8) Load FS Flightplan into AS 2004(9) It processes the route and updates via FSUIPC.At this point the Metar is reporting the Winds at 360 @ 8.I see the Flight Weather strip in FS 2004 with the correct weather.on FS 2004 Computer:(10) Turn on A/C instruments(11) Tune ATIS it report winds as 037 @ 8.Then at this point when the weather is loaded correctly, I usua…

I have been flying with AS2004 for approximately 7 hours with ProjectMagenta and the PMDG 737. On a flightfrom SVMI to MGGT something unusual happened. Approximately 50 miles out of SVMI and climbing through FL280, the altimeter "jumped" nearly 3000 feet. The airspeed indicator also first increased and then decreased dramatically. The airplane eventually stalled. I am using AS2004 on a networked PC (WideFS) and no weather radar. I have the standard default options (no wake turbulence and FS2004 writes enabled). I have been using ActiveSky 1.92 with no such problems (also using WideFS). I tried the flight again and the same thing occurred. I switched to a competin…

Installed AS2004 yesterday, still making my way through the manual but..is anyone else getting a flashing of the panel .bmp?I'm getting it every time I fly,is it tied to updates on the weather? Also any possibility of making the radar window itself scalable? Or...I'd almost rather have it as a gauge if possible, integrating it into the panel so it doesn't stay on the screen when switching to spot view.David

Just now (22:20 Z) tried to load weather for a flight from KMCI to KDFW and got zero winds aloft, all levels. First time I've encountered this sort of thing, is it a server issue? Was using build 131, haven't installed 132 yet.Mark Kuebeler

I have the latest update to AS and the latest FSIUPC .dll and FSIPCU is also a registered copy. The problem I see is relativly minor. FSNav will show a wind dir/speed that is different from what active radar reports. Judging by my groundspeed the FSNav readings seem correct. Active radar wind dir seems to slowly circle around the aircraft until it shows same wind dir/speed as FSNav. Then after a few minutes the active radr wind dir/speed circles around again. Also i have observed the wind dir/speed in FSNav reading the same as ActiveRadar (while activeradar's wind dir/speed is circling the plane) . However, this is only for a splitsecond the FSNav returns to its previous …

When I start a flight I always have started AS2004 then FS and set clear skies in the weather, hit fly now, goto fsuipc and clear all weather, and refresh AS, my two problems are....1) The active runway is always rw3 regardless of the wind direction, like just now I started a flight and atis said the winds are 89/16 landing and departing rw03 instead of rw08. Even if I exit fs and restart using "previous flight".2) The metar says wind is 100/16 but fs says it's 89/16, 11 degrees is the mag dec. but shouldn't that already be figured in?Thanks,AllenMSFS2004Ultimate Traffic 2004Active Skies 2004 build 131FSUIPC 3.3.0.8 (Registered)FSBuild 2.1FS Flight Keeperhttp://www.precis…

Hi Damian and Jim,first of all: thumbs up for your continuing support and improvement !A couple of question:how does AS2004 handle the RMK section of METARs ? More in depth: how handles remarks as "DSTN CB S-E MOV N" or similar ?Is AS2004 able to handle the "P" modifier ("heavy") used instead of "+" in many countries (Italy is one)? Thanks in advance.

Hi everyone,B132 is now up, and a new thread has been created. Please transfer any discussion concerning the MR2 beta to this new thread. B132 includes some minor adjustments and fixes as reported. We are planning on releasing B132 as the official MR2 update only after several days have passed without any confirmed problem reports. We are also waiting for the official FSUIPC release (fixing our wind shift problems) from Pete Dowson (no word on when that might happen, but probably within the next couple weeks). Thanks to all those who are participating in the beta and supplying great feedback! To those who are waiting for the official release, it shouldn't be too much lo…

Howdy Gang, long time no talk to :-).After a bit of a hiatus, I've reloaded FS & AS2004 w/MR1 (not using the beta MR2 yet). I have the latest registered version of FSUIPC. I'm using Chris Wills cloud set & I believe it's DXT3, not the 32 bit, but not sure on that. I'm running under Win XP Pro, have 1 Gig of memory with a set 2500 MB VM, and have 72% of an 80 Gig HD left as free space (although with the cost of this HD, I'd hardly call it "free", but that's for another post :-lol). OK, with that as background, I'm running into a problem with Out of Memory messages and FS9 locking up. Now, here's the dilema. If I turn the Render to Texture off, then as FS9 is …
