HelloI am a recent AS2004/FS2004 user. I follow the procedure of firing up FS, chosing airport, flightplan, clearing weather, then going to the small screen, activating AS, flightplan weather etc. I then press alt/enter to return to full screen, but it remains small screen and BLACK and the mouse shows an unstable hourglass. I have to close and restart FS. I can select AS first, then FS, and just fly, but cannot go to small screen and check the weather.

Hi Bart,Welcome! For the FSUIPC issue, the test version is in your ActiveSky folder. You need to manually copy and paste it into the main Modules folder of FS.Cloud imposters are from 2D clouds(simple clouds). See if you are using 3D clouds only. Are you using any 3rd party cloud textures?Hope this helps,JimActiveSky Supporthttp://www.hifisim.com/images/as2004proudsupporter.jpg

Only just noticed that at the bottom of the nav log the average route wind speed and direction is given (how long have I been using AS2004 :-doh )However the winds are given for FL320 regardless of what altitude I put in Flight Plan Entry box. Is the calculation set at FL320 or am I doing something wrong?TIA

I guess that it's normal that the weather stations aren't able to submit (or survive!) any data in hurricane conditions?Yesterday there was only old weather from Jamaica, and now the weather from the Cayman islands (MWCR) is reporting 18kts winds (110300z), becoming: 1923 34025G35KT which is also way to low. Those poor people have other priorities than repairing weather equipment right now, but I was just curious what the METAR data would be in such conditions. Hi AS Team,A very interesting question has come up among some associates of mine about weather terminology. The ceiling for a airport is always listed in the METAR. The question I have is how is the ceiling determined? If there is an overcast layer generally it the ceiling. Hoever if there are broken cloud layers, what is the methodology to determine what the ceiling is, is it 4/8 coverage etc. Should would appreciate info on this subject.ThanksBob

Hi all,I am very intriged about what ActiveSky can do, and I have been reading at this forum and at the HiFi site, but what I can not extract is if it will suit my specific needs. My setup is as follows: -Main Fs PC with Dualhead Nvidia 4200 and Nvidia TNT2. The 4200 displays my cockpit instruments on two screens, the TNT2 has my overhead panel. This pc is the wideview server and runs FSHotseat and Gamecommander 2 as well.-FS PC with Matrox Parhelia for displaying the outside view on three screens. This PC is no wideview client. Both FS computers have registered FSUIPC installed -Laptop which runs FsCommander in conjunction with wideview client. All works like a charm, but t…

Damian,Not quite sure what you want me to do on this overspped problem. I just had another one in a 3rd different a/c. Was flying from KLAX to KDEN and was east of KLAS at FL370 and at .8m in a 757. Was flying along steady at speed when the mach number jumped to .85 and overspeed alarm went off.....had to disconnect a/p & reset. Again it was in a desolate area of desert east of Vegas.I still have global writes checked. On my next several flights I'm going to uncheck global writes & auto Global and see if any overspeeds happen. If not I will then check just global writes and see if the problem returns.By having both global writes & auto global unchecked, how wi…

I need to re-install ActiveSky2004 and I'm wondering about that sequence. I am an original purchaser, so I have all the files from as-wxre on, including all of the updates for wxRE, and then for AS2004, HIFI-AS2004_wxre_verification, and then all the updates for that. What files do I need, and what is the recommended re-installion procedure? Many thanks, keith

Hi All,I'm running ActiveSky wxRE 1.92 with FS9.Almost all the time whenever I position at Calgary International (CYYC), the METAR from wxRE is always dynamic and it is always overcast and snowing. :(Sure, we have crappy weather in Calgary, but at least it doesn't snow (much) from June-September.Then about 15 minutes later, once airborne, wxRE picks up METAR for a little one-strip airport and it's not dynamic and it's more indicative to what I would expect for summertime.Any ideas anyone?Corey.

Hi,I just made a search for icing posts as I was iterested in how it is modeled in FS.I found this quote from Damian:"In my ActiveSky add-on, I am working on an airframe ice accumulation indicator."Is this still in the pipeline? Hi Guys,I just purchased AS2004 a couple of days ago, and I am wondering if it has build 142 included in it already, or do I have to download and install this update. Also, do I have to install MR1 as well, or is build 142 all inclusive? Thanks,Bill

I have a CD-ROM Active Sky 2002, but never used it. Now I want to try it on my new pc and fs9. I purchased it by 'Just Flight' where I see that I can get an update V1.92.4. I would be very glad for a short step by step guide to avoid problems. I have read all I can find about the matter and know that it has to be done exact to work. I am no computerexpert but like virtual flying very much.Regards Ole

Hi guys,I am really a litlle confused about how dynamic weather works when I am flying in the past.I live in Germany, which is 2 hours behind UTC. Now I want to fly in a country that is 6 hours behind UTC. However it is already dark there in real time, and I want to make a flight during the day. So I set UTC 6 hours back in the sim. What are my options when I want dynamic weather? How should I set the boxes Realtime/FSTime, UTC conversion and which archive should I download?Someone can help me out?Alex

Damian, Jim, anyone else:Not sure the active sky support forum is the place for this, but...I'm trying to add a reference to a local file to FSBrowser's config files - either FSBrowser.cfg or Favorites.cfg - but I've not been successful in any consistent way. I'd like to set my homepage to something like kneeboard_keys.htm (or FSX-ionals!) located in the aircraft directory, but explicit references to c:program filesmicrosoft gamesfs9aircraftkneeboard_keys.htm or file:///c:program filesmicrosoft gamesfs9aircraftkneeboard_keys.htm do not work when they are added to the .cfg files. These work perfectly well by typing them into the edit bar, however. Adding the file to a h…
