Hi Damian, Jim,I like AS2004 as it is now. I would almost dare to say AS2004 is close to perfect at the moment, taking FS2004 limits into account. Though we just have a brand new AS2004.5 release, I realy wonder what you have in store for us in the near future. I've seen some suggestions, like mine (http://forums.avsim.net/dcboard.php?az=show_topic&forum=171&topic_id=12459&mesg_id=12459&page=3), adding support for paused FS2004 etc. Would you mind sharing your plans with us? :-)Regards,Henk-Jan

Hello; I fly the PMDG a lot and I was wondering how I could use AS for the forecast page in the FMC. Basically I need to know the wind speeds and directions at certain altitudes, three is the limit. I saw this in the program, where it can tell you the winds aloft along your route, but I was wondering which to choose because it lists airports and not my waypoints of course, and sometimes the airports are way off my route. How can I know which airport data is assigned to a certain segment of my route? Thanks

I have just install Build 146 and come up with a problem. I cannot use the import plan in the flight plan entry screen. AS2004 locks up for about 5 minutes when the dialog box to open a file comes up everything has slowwwwwed down. It appears that AS2004 is process something in the background and sucking up the CPU Usage 80-100%. The mouse movement is very slow.Windows Task Manager says the application is not responding there are (2) activesky2004 programs in the dialog box.As soon as I select the file the CPU usage drops and everthing goes back to normal.OS XP Professional SP2Regards,Andrew.

Hi!I encountered this kind of problem when having updated my previous AS version:When I created a flight and turned on AS I loaded the flight as usual. Just as the cockpit view was about to come FS9 crashed giving me an error message which stated that the problem is in dtdll.dll (or something like that). I tried the same procedure again with same results. The I tried it without starting AS and this time I was able to go to cockpit and fly the plane as usual.Any ideas, anybody?CX043Timo NCathay Pacific VA

It maybe my understanding that is incorrect, but it seems the Magnetic Heading and Ground Speed given in the Nav Log are incorrect.E.g. I plan a direct route from Thule, Greenland (BGTL) to Alert, Canada (CYLT), put this into the AS2004 nav log and getMC=76 MH=84, GS=201, wind aloft is 174/30, TAS=200.Now this would be okay if the wind was issued as a mag heading, but its not (unless I'm not understanding your software correctly). So, the MH and GS seemed to be calculating against a mag course and a true wind with no allowance for variation (which averages 72 degrees West for this route.)I calculate a True Course of 004, then True Heading of 005, GS=230. Adding the vari…

Being inspired by the recent threads on ActiveSky I have a quick question. I fly mostly on VATSIM, and hardly ever as single player or what you want to call it. Would using AS make a difference for me, because as I understand it I use the VATSIM weather?

I've got a very weird weather download problem here, which not only affects AS, but still maybe someone here can come up with some idea.I'm using FS9 with AS2004 Update 1. Until some weeks ago everything was working well. Then suddenly it wasn't. I can't for the life of me remember what I could have changed in my system configuration, except maybe I installed XP SP2 around that time, but I'm not sure anymore.Anyway, AS just refused to download weather, said there was a connection error. Now, and that's just one of the curious parts of this situation, I tried the MS waether download from within FS9 just to see if that was still working. It wasn't either. I reinstalled AS20…

First of all, thank you for version 4.5. I took an evening flight last night and watched some clouds gather among the foothills of the cascades and it looked incredible. The support you guys provide with regular updates and new features is second-to-none in the FS9 world.I have a question, though. I typically use offline weather with "online updates" unchecked, "use system time" unchecked and "TAF processing" checked. I tend to have to pause the sim for long stretches due to the intrusion of the real world, and when I come back the weather has often changed drastically (for example, I may have been in clear skies but come back to find myself surrounded by clouds -- not goo…

Hi guys,I think I have a problem. When in flight, and when AS2004 is refreshing weather in online mode I got a CTD 2 times. Both ending the flight with a g2d.dll error. After the first time I did a clean re-install (AS2004, the MR1 and then the AS2004.5 update). The second time I did a clean re-install again (AS2004 and the MR1) and the error had gone (flew the same flights). Do I have a bug?

hello all...not really sure if this is an activesky issue or possibly a FSW cloud issue. figured i'd post it in this forum where possibly both Damien and Chris Willis could see it....anyways...over the past 2 days i've installed both the activesky2004.5 update AND FSW's new high-cloud-performance clouds available over at FS.com. now, when i'm at altitude i noticed that i'm over a nice smooth, flat layer of overcast but there are thin-lined, "taller" clouds that form the outline of a square. kind of makes it look like a checkerboard. from the AS2004.5 update, the only default setting that i've changed was to "extend TS levels" (i think thats how it read). when inst…

I own Active Sky since the previous version, but only used it 2 or three times. A shame, if I read all the positive comments on all the boards! So, I decided to give AS another try. Why I dodn't use AS for that long? I always saw AS as a real weather engine needing access to online data. And because my gaming PC is offline most of the time (security reasons,...), I didn't consider AS to be of much value for me.Now, I'd like to ask the experts here what I could do in my special case. There are two weather generators which I use more or less often: the one that comes with the FS2004 SDK (somehow time consuming, but good if I want special weather somewhere), and Wetter2004, m…

Please take a look at this before asking a new support question, as the answer may be here!Is AS2004 compatible with FS2002?No, it is not. AS2004 is compatible with FS2004 ONLY, due to the new station-based structure of the AS2004 weather engine. Can I run AS2004 on WideFS?Yes, AS2004 can run via WideFS on another computer other than your FS computer. The ActiveRadar module, however, must run on the FS system. An ActiveRadar Connector program is made available to point ActiveRadar to your second (AS2004) computer and properly read AS2004 weather data.Does AS2004 effect performance?AS2004 by itself does not generally cause a noticeable performance hit. Certain unavoidable h…

Hi,I had an idea for a possible ActiveSky feature if its possible...I know ActiveSky has the capability to download older weather files for xx/xx/xxxx date and UTCxx:xx for past dates, but we have to manually retrieve them.If I wanted to create a flight in flight simulator for, say, June 4th, 2004 (a date in the past) would it be possible to have an option in ActiveSky to auto-detect the date and UTC time within FS2004 and automatically download the appropriate hourly information file for that date and time? This way, if I wanted to fly an 8hr flight on a spring day from last year, ActiveSky would pick up the date from FS2004 and download the proper UTC file for that date …

Hi Damian, I've been a customer since the beginning of your weather program. From freeware, via wxRE to AS2004. Still satisfied! I have a question about a full clean re-install for previous wxRE users like me. In order to install AS2004 on a fresh system, I do this:- install wxRE- install upgrade to AS2004, the one where wxRE needs to be installed- remove wxRE- install the final upgrade to AS2004.5Is this still correct? I would prefer to have one final install package. Though I understand your upgrade path, I do not like the idea of installing wxRE -which I don't use at all ofcourse- just to be able to install AS2004. Or am I seeing things wrong here...Kind regards,Henk-J…

Hi Guys,Thank you for the update.Unfortunately, since installing it, I've had some real problems with NIS2005. The boffins at symantec have managed to make ccapp.exe unstoppable, so that the only option is to disable nis, with a significant memory penalty. If I don't I get a repeated warning that AS is attempting to connect to the internet. Even if I say it's ok, I get another warning in about 20 seconds. Aaaaarghhh!!My drama is this. NIS refuses to let me tell it that AS2004.5 is OK to connect to the 'net. If I disable my firewall, I get an alert telling me that an attempt was made to connect to my computer using a method characteristic of the MS_RPC_DCOM_BUFFER_OV…
