With an upgrade to a pentium 4 clocked at 4Ghz and a Cooler Master CM Stacker, a Gigaybyte X800XT ATI Videocard 256MB , a Thermaltake 480Watt Silent Power Supply, and Coolermaster Internal fan, and a Zalman Cooler, and 2GB of Cosair Ram and 520GB of Hard drive for FS9 alone, on top of an 80GB system, I am a happy man...What added the cream ws the Microsoft update and of course...the release of the Activesky Beta 145...well done to you guys again. I salute yuo again. For those tweak fanatics out there..I spent years trying this and that..My advice to you...go out and get the best hardware you can afford, the hardware is the answer.Regardspaul

Hello, I noticed with ActiveSky enabled, I had a lower layer of thin clouds that would move with the aircraft. It looks like a ground level layer of cirrus clouds that stays in the same spot during the whole trip. Has this issue been covered in the Beta releases??Thanks in advance!!BrianBash :-wave

I'm having some fun and games trying to get v4.5 working properly.problem 1 - It now takes ages to download weather from the net and ages to cycle through the weather station updates. During this time (at start of flight) there is no weather in the sim and it's impossible to change options. I realise this is a new feature, but can the number of stations downloaded be reduced? I can't see a parameter for this.problem 2 - It's a great idea to have the minimum and maximum visibility options, but changing them and checking 'force visibility levels' has no effect on the visibility. Does this feature work?RegardsJon

Hello.I have recently installed the FS9 Update from Microsoft. I can get activesky to run fine. I am having problems with Active Radar since installing the update. I am no longer able to load up the rader with the pre assigned keys. I have checked for key assignment conflicts and there are none. Active radar will not load by pressing CTRL + F12. Any ideas if the update may have affected this? Should there be a dll file in the modules folder related to active radar as I cannot find a dll related to this program? The folder ActiveRadar is there.RegardsJason

Hi everyone,This is not a troll. As a long time happy user of FSMeteo, I'm curious about AS2004. Would someone please lay out the special advantages Active Sky has over FSMeteo? (I realize that some people do not like or cannot run FSMeteo--but I'm not asking for a negative comparison.) Hearing the positive story for Active Sky would be terrific. You seem to have a spirited community here and it sounds as though Damian has done a lot of work over the past couple of years. The support seems plenty enthusiastic. It would be wonderful to learn what is up!Best wishes,Mike

Damian,I use AS2004 mainly with photographic scenery and one annoying effect of that scenery is that at a certain distance (more than 35000 as set on the maximum visibity distance on FS9.cfg) the textures stop and a nasty plain green effect takes over.To get rid of this I edit FS9.cfg to keep the max visibility distance down to 35000. However, any change to other settings in game reverses this and the file has to be re-edited. Is it possible to add a setting to AS2004 to cap the visibility distance?RegardsJon

Hello,I am hoping to buy AS2004 shortly using on-line weather. I noticed that with fs9 overcast conditions seemed to only appear when descending to around 2000 feet. For example when landing at Heathrow the overcast was there close to landing but not above central London (approx 12 miles). This seemed unrealistic, and i wanted to know how ActiveSky might differ in this respect.,Thanks for any help on thisCheersDan

First post here...but I've used the program a while, now I have a dilemma...The upper winds reported in the program (using latest public beta build) are not matching what are sent to my FS9, and the winds sometimes update about 1 every three minutes. When I used the original release, the winds worked out just fine. Not quite sure what is happening, but I was getting this problem using both FSUIPC 3.317 and the new version 3.40Is this something the upcoming public beta build will address, or something specific to my machine...I'm at work, and won't be able to send ini files or anything until then...Thanks

I am running the AS4.5 beta and am flying over Texas on my way from LAX to ATL and I ran into this "super-icing" where, despite my de-icing switch being turned on the whole time, my airspeed indicator froze up and my IAS went to 0kts. I have had this problem before but it was mainly when I forgot to turn my de-icing on once in flight, this time I remembered to turn it on earlier but still got iced up?Maybe icing isn't the totally correct term as I can still fly fine (i.e. wings don't seem to be iced) but my pitot tube has iced over.Any ideas on what's going on here? If you're curious the aircraft I'm using is the iFDG 767-300 and I was using archived weather: Oct 7th 20…

Simmers,I bought AS2004 two days ago, and I'm glad I did. This is awesome and beautiful. Yesterday evening I flew from LEMD to EHAM, and when I landed there was much wind, rain and thunder in the skies. On my PC and when I looked outside the window of my home, the same weatherconditions!!! Great, great, great ......Got a question. When I make a flightplan, I first load it in COF then in AS2004. But I cannot load the flightplan in the weatherradar. I push the button MSFS, then I can pick the COF flightplan, but the plan is not shown in the radar. What can be wrong?

The guys at Activesky have done a great job, I salute them, no doubt about that. However, it seems such a pity that there still seems to be a problem with rain above clouds (Please see attached image). This to me ruins the whole effect of what they have achieved. I'm not grumbling guys...just hoping that they can do something about it and the 'grey-out issue' I have already posted about. Once again...thank you for a great product.PaulMaybe it's just my PC and if is the case how do i find out lol but reports seem to be indicating it's not just me, especially with th 'grey-out' effect being reported by others!

Damian or Jim:I hear that dumping the MS FS9 cloud textures is a bonus for frame-rates. Is there any progress in this area? Sorry, but I can't remember the developer that was working on them. Is there anything available to replace the MS variety?- Ron McLeod CYEG
