Hi Jim,I was having trouble with FS9 shutting down, so after reading somepost on the forum I installed VB6. I think it took care of the shutting down, however now my radar screen is reading "OFF" andI can't figure out the problem. Thanks,Dan

Just run FS after opening AS 142 beta and I received an error messaage regarding AS and FSUIPC. The FSUIPC log gave me the message below. Has anybody else had this occur? hi all,I still didn't figure out what "suppression ceiling" is doeing resp which ceiling should be entered. If i leave the standard 4.000ft, i get some cloud pop-ups. If i cange it to 45.000ft, everything runs very smooth. Jim proposed to leave it at 4.000ft to receive weather updates. My suppression range is set to 150nm.My understanding is now as follows: -With ceiling set to 45.000ft and a route <150nm, then no weather updates will occur on the route and at my destination (if a new weather file is downloaded in between) - the weather is somwehow suppressed or fixed from start to landing with the initial weather file. correct?-If my route now is longer than 150nm, my …

Hello everyone,We received some recent inquiries about compatibility with these two add-ons...Here's the scoop: There were some potential problems long ago with older FSUIPC and AS builds, but this has long since been addressed and to date there are NO KNOWN ISSUES between them.We have also confirmed this directly with PMDG.HiFi Simulation Software feels that the PMDG aircraft are significantly advanced and offer the highest level of realism possible within FS2004. We feel the same about our AS2004.5 product, and together, these two platforms compliment each other quite nicely.Hope that clears the air a bit! Thanks all,

Hi DamienI've just suffered a dreadful failure of my primary hard-drive with the attendant loss of my Flightsim and all supporting programs. I have backed-up versions 1.1, 1.2 and 1.92.4 update. You will find that I have been using your wonderful program for quite a time and I have responded in glowing account a number of times on the various forums. I have installed v 1.2 but cannot get the 1.92.4 update to update it. Now, I cannot recall if I paid for this latter version , maybe I did, but I would certainly like to get my skies active again soon. Can you offer any advice please.Best regardsTony Norton (actor&mikado)

Excuse me if this is alread being done, but it occurs to me that you could improve the fidelity of the weather; WRT clouds and rain; if you were to use satalite, surface observation, and radar images to augment the METAR data.Since you have your own weather server, I envision this being simply adjustments to the METARs, and perhaps even adding METARS for sectors that are devoid of reporting stations, or who's data is hours, or days old. This woould mean that the weather does not match reported METAR's in some cases, but would provide for a more dynamic, and accurate model of real world conditions.

Hi,I have been using ActiveSky2004 (B140) for about a week now. The program is great and I have found it increases the realism of FS enormously.I have had some trouble obtaining consistent results with the 'Weather Tracking' page on the ActiveRadar display in particular with the TAF display. A couple of examples tonight using downloaded data: (20040824-15Z): EPKK (Krakow, Poland) the TAF displayed in the 'Closest Station Report' or 'Custom Station Report' in the ActiveSky Window -> (EPKK 241300Z 241524 16012KT 9999 FEW040 BECMG 2022 9999 SCT033 TEMPO 2124 24014G24KT 6000 TSRA BKN020CB) was quite different to the TAF displayed in the 'Flight Tracking' area of the Act…

Hi,With the latest 4.5 vs, AS2004 report(after import of FP) seems to be more consistant with wind/dir/speed displayed on de ND of PMDG 737NG.However there seems to be differences between both of +/- : 0

HiUsing the weather settings after loading a flightplan into Activesky, how do you tell whether you have a headwind or tailwind during flight? And how do you tell what speed that headwind or tailwind will be? Trying to create a flight from Malta to Manchester using a real route and PMDG aircraft and the fuel planner I am using requires the above info entered to calculate the fuel. Many Thanks

HiI am trying to create flight Number KM139 from Manchester to Malta. I have the actual route and am using Activesky for the weather. The only problem I have is that on climbing out the aircraft suddenly becomes unstable, wobbling up and down and the eventually stalls. I know this is activesky causing this issue as when I disable the weather the A320 flys fine. Is there a fix for this? Or any recommendations on what may be done to resolve this?I am using the latest version Build 1.40 on FS2004.Regards

That it sometimes rains at 35,000 ft with no clouds above you ? My friend Paul and I have noticed that over the last few days, and am wondering if anyone else has. May be incorrect settings on both of our parts, but don't think so. Thanks, CURIOUS :)

Hello,I've noticed a couple of instances where rainfall is shown on the Active Radar screen at my location but no rainfall is seen. This is using the latest beta (140). I seem to remember the METAR did mention rain but I can't be sure. Has this happended to anybody else? If not I'll try to get more information if it happens againVictor

DamianI have just installed B139 and wish to report that the sudden wind shifts in the high altitudes are no more, instead as I proceed at 31,000 north from Atlanta towards Washington DC I observed a smooth increase from 20 knots to 80 knots in the jet stream as I went north. The variety of different cloud patterns along the way was nothing short of spectacular. Now the bad part. On both occasions even after rebooting I had CF9 crash suddenly. Fs9 was running fine all day before the upgrade and on the 2 flights since crashed on both occassions.I will investigate this further and fire it up again with build 132 and see what happens. I had weird winds at times with 132 bu…

Hi friends,it's my turn again :DHere are a few questions from an AS rookie:1) my ActiveRadar screen is black; im running AS2004 on a client PC via WideFS v6232 and installed ActiveRadar on FS9 PC using ActiveRadarConnector2.exe program (all went fine).Maybe i should load FS9 flightplan into Radar itself? or it isn't necessary to get some nice coloured images on the radar screen? In effect closest weather station in ActiveRadar doesn't match the actual flight location :-(2) why does it take so long (sometimes 4-5 minutes in dense areas) to write METARs?3) which settings should i use to have ATIS voice announcements?Tried first flight in AS2004 ambience and i must admit i wa…

Damien/JimPer your suggestions I made some tweaks to my Wideclient and Wideserver times and was able to get my KORD load time down below 4 minutes. I then tried KLAX and got 1m 30s on the initial load. That time equates nicely with your results Damien.Just to be sure that things are as good as I can get them, would you do me a favor and do an initial load at KORD and see if your load times are also around 4 minutes. I suspect that KORD might an extremely dense reporting area (considering that KLAX has no reporting points to its west!).BTW: at KJFK the initial load time was about 6-7 minutes. Again - it could be that they are very dense weather reporting areas.-michael

Guys,After much reading and tweaking I can honestly say I've found a set-up that fits my tastes perfectly!! I now have very smooth graduating visibility, fantastic looking cloud layers, very, very little cloud poping (something I haven't spent too much time on "fixing") and weather in FS that realistically depicts what I see out my window. The interaction between AS2004, FSUIPC and FS9 have MANY times this week made me stop and say "WOW, that was cool". I am blown away by the dramatic difference this product has made on my simming and I thank you for the huge amount of time and energy you've put into making this product "a simmers product".Mikehttp://www.members.shaw.ca/m…

Hello Guys,I've been using Activesky2004 for about 1 month and cannot seem to get my destination weather to be consistant with downloaded METAR reports (online mode) no matter what I try. Specifically what is happening is that my weather loads up and works great from my terminal departure area and enroute route portions of my flight, but when I get to my arrival area things seem to happen randomly.Departing Salt Lake (KSLC) and going to Dallas (KDFW), weather is great until I arrive in the Dallas terminal area. Thereafter cloud cover, altimeter, and surface winds do not match the METAR report and will not update with the actual destination surface report (as being d…
