Hi Activesky Guys,First I will preface this post by saying that you are really a friendly and helpful group of folks and I sincerely believe you do your best to develope a good, feature rich weather add-on product like AS2004.Honestly though, after having used Flight Simulator 2004's default online weather engine with the lastest FSUIPC's wind smoothing function, that FS2004's own online weather is really a much better experience than Activesky 2004. Nothing personal!Activesky 2004 was a great effort I think but it consistantly falls short in a lot of areas. The winds aloft have never worked right with Activesky unless they are forced and a flight plan route is used. …

Hi, I have had some strange problems tonight when flying online. The winds are constantly shifting round in a clockwise direction, changing 1 degree every couple of seconds. One minute a tail wind then the next a headwind..It has sent my PSS 320 mad a few times. Is there any news on when we can expect the new build which hopefully corrects the problem.ThanksKeith

Hello,Today I tried to retreive old metars and TAF so I cut "online updates" and "use system time" in order to set hour and day of activesky via fs2004 time settingsSor, I launch fs2004 and set fs2004 day to july 25th and go to LFQQ aiportBut if I change the fs2004 hour, the metar and taf stay always the same(So, I use download function of AS2004 but same.I use 1300Z, 1500Z and 1700Z and result is my file is always named 20040725_12Z.dat :(Could someone try the same and explain resultshere is two screenshots to show you my process and settings

Do I take off with the haze (it almost seems a real situation, is it fantastic :-scatter ), but done reach unexpectedly then always a varying quota around 5000/7000 feet haze it disappears and is there an almost endless visibility :~P ? mistake something in the settare activesky and FSUIPC? Uff. it is an ugly effect.. the to pass from the to see the ground and the horizon covered by a light haze that unexpectedly it disappears :-8

I've been using AS2004 now for a month or so and really love the way it stabilizes the weather environment. No more popping clouds or instant clearing or overcast! This addon has really improved the overall weather simulation IMHO!One small problem, though. Per the written procedures I execute FSUIPC's "Clear All Weather" from within FS2004 before processing the FP in AS2004 and refreshing the weather into FS2004. At least every third or forth flight the actual weather in FS2004 doesn't seem to match what ATIS is telling me. I can have very overcast skies with 10 kt winds from 272 degrees and a barometer reading of 30.03 in the Metar (overcast confirmed when looking …

Hi all,I've run into a problem with ActiveRadar - it causes CTD's. Now I really don't use it, so I have just renamed the main DLL to prevent loading of AR. That cured my CTD's, but I would like to know what I need to do to remove AR completely.Jim, Damien - anyone?TIA & BRGDSSven Sorensen, EKCH

Hello Activesky team,I found one little mistake in the program. It just probably uses old data. When I fly in Tallinn the weather is applied correctly from airport EETN. But when flying to west Estonia for example, the software does not take the weather anymore from EETN but some ULTT airport that is actually Russia and MAYBE was the old ICAO code of Tallinn airport when Estonia was under Russia more than 10 years ago :).

Is it possible to only get the information for the destination instead of closest reporting station? When I'm on my descent about to cross the transition altitude I'm really not interested in the closest station as much as the destination. Yes, the destination will come on shortly, but no ATIS identification (Alpha, bravo etc) is given for the destination weather. Also, it's kind of annoying when you're on a 10 mile final and you have to sit through the ATIS for the airport directly under you when all you're interested in is getting your winds for your destination station.

Hi, I have been using active sky for a couple of months, and I'm getting every now and then a rain when the sky is almost clear, and at high altitudes (about 4-6000). I know this subject has been already discussed, but ... anything new? Last time it happened with this file: 20040529-05Z, in a flight from LIPZ to LIMJ, at 9500 FLThanx, see by yourselfhttp://forums.avsim.net/user_files/84973.txt

I don't know if this option is build in already, so thats why I ask.If it's not build in then that would be a great suggestion. Is it possible to set a flightplan with the forecast WX, the evening before you make your flight??? Let me explain....Lets say I want to make a flight tommorow morning, departing at 0800z, 23 Jul 2004, but now at the moment it's 1805z, 22 Jul 2004. Mostly I prepare my flights in the evening and the next day I make that flight. So is it possible to calculate the WX this evening already for the flight from tommorow????

Hi,After about a month extensive use of the great AS2004, I would like to make a suggestion. It would be really handy if one could minimize the program to an icon (in the right bottom corner of the screen) instead of having a stay in the taskbar. I for one never go back to AS2004 once it has been initialized and the route info has been put in.thx for considering!

In anticipation of installing the upcoming WinXP SP2 bundle when it's formally released, does anyone know if it breaks anything for us AS2004 users? Knowing that it's gonna lock down a lot of internet firewalls, I wonder what it'll do to us. Perhaps anyone out there with a SP2-RC loaded and successfully still using AS2004 could shed some light on the subject? Did you have to do anything (like open any particular ports) after installing a SP2-RC? Thanks...Al

Hi,I have to rebuild my PC, and I am just making sure that I have everything I need to reinstall. I can't remeber, but does Active Sky require a serial number or not? I have looked at my account at SimMarket, and it lists serial numbers for other apps, such as FSUIPC, WIDEFS, etc., but not Active Sky, so I guess that the install does not use one, but I would just like to be certain before I begin rebuilding.Steve

Hello, could you help me out with the options menu?I use fsuipc 3.30 and latest beta build.I usually fly offline not using up to date metars and not using same system time/fs time. for example I would fly sunday 18 july at 21:24 UTC, setting the flight simulator time and date to 17 july at 13:00 UTC, and using a weather downloaded file of july 17 at 20:00Z.As I'm not flying online could you help me out setting the 'TAF' and 'use system time vs fstime' options?ThanksLucap.s.would I gain performance turning 'enforce visibility limits' ON, having FSUIPC smoothing and limits options already ON?

Hi Fellow simmers.I have been using Active Sky version 1.92 until today and purchased Active sky for Fs2004 including the new build 115.With the latest version of FSUIPC it included a taxi speed button which I find very handy in reducing the speed to 1 knot while landing and taking off.Since I installed the most recent version of Active Sky, when I activate this option the airspeed continually reduces itself to 1 knot then jumps back up to whatever the current wind speed is making it extremely hard to land.I never had this problem with Version 1.92 for FS2004 I am wondering if there is a setting I have forgotten activate to prevent this from happening.Tks. for any assista…

Mornin! I was wondering if Damian has on his list some way of AS2004 compensating for invalid/missing winds aloft data? The current trend of going to 0/0/-273c is, ummm, bad. Perhaps a trigger where if AS2004 finds that the data is corrupt or invalid it will continue using the previous FD data it had, or better, interpolate surrounding valid stations? It seems a shame to have to shut AS2004 down in the middle of the flight because it freaks out the winds aloft! Thanks for all the hard work!

Hi AS2004 users,Lets start the questions:-Can someone post a screenshot with the settings from AS2004 option screen. (When processing is paused) I want to most realistic setting, so thats why I ask.-If I use system time, wat effect do I notice???? Before I had AS2004 and I selected the local time from EHBK (thats were I live) and after making a flight of about 3-4 houres the clock had an arrears of about 15 min. For example: I depart 0900z system time and FS time aswell (which is 1100z local, in summer season) and I arrive 1130z system time then it's 1115z in FStime. A sort of time gap.-Is the ATIS frequentie also 122.00???-If I plan a flight from 5 houres and I prin…

While flying from KBOS to KSLC my speed suddenly increased so much that both the engines on my 737-800 blew out. While warming the APU up and getting ready for an inflight restart a second tornado at 35,000 ripped my aircraft to shread, killing 182 passengers and 5 crewmen. Here's a screenshot of what AS2004 looked like.http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/84579.jpgThe flameout was a welcome anomally to try and deal with... The shredding wasn't!
