Hi all,I am having the following probs when using active sky:I installed the programme and dowloaded the update off hifisim website. The use of the programme has caused problems with flight sim. 1. When creating a flight, the aircraft is no longer displayed when selecting an aircraft from the aircraft window.2. When using Level D 767, on selecting the pushback window, the bottom half of the screen is all black.3. When the weather is being updated, the instrument panel overlay flashes until the update is complete.4. Frame rates have been adversly affected. Dear staff:I'm considering the idea of buying active sky and that's mainly due to the countless times I heard positive comments about your product. A friend of mine got it and keep saying I should too (we are virtual friends and live away from each other so I never got the chance to see it in his pc). I have noticed that when using ICS+Random Sky/Environment, that upon update/refresh of weather, my textures at my location (different airports) go blurred to the point where it just looks like a mush. In addition, the texture of my aircraft either disappears completely, or 50% goes missing. I have now turned this option off, and select manual clouds, and have not had a repetition (so far). Has anyone else had this problem, and if so, is there a known solution???ThanksPaul

Hi all, Just wondering how the Transatlantic winds are calculated, because I noticed ASV is based around weather stations.Also, going westbound and eastbound, with vatsim weather or without, causes alot of cruise speed problems with the PMDG 744. There are two issues:1) Winds changing direction causing massive speed limit changes, from .86 cruise to stall speed. I have put a wind smooth in FSUIPC of 1 knt /sec but I still havent worked out a satisfactory setting.2) Speed loss. This is regardless of wind direction, happens with tailwinds or headwinds. Without a noticable change in weather conditions, sometimes the aircraft loses speed, again from .86 cruise to stall. …

Living in the Maritimes and having picked up ASV just a few days ago, I have had the opportunity to fly in some pretty horrible weather. I must say that this program really enhances the flying experience 10 fold. I haven't even played with many of the settings and am using the 256x256 clouds. Truthfully,I was a bit hesitant to buy the program as I believed that the performance hit would be substantial enough to make the simming not enjoyable. My skies are filled with lovely clouds, rain, turbulence and I'm getting hardly any hit on fps at all. It's very smooth.One thing I remember about ASWXRE was the little advdisplay window. I think I see a problem, after upgrading to the latest build, 367. After takeoff I select the outside view, looking at the ground below the aircraft. Perhaps when at an alitude of 2000 or so. What I see is very FAST stuttering in the scenery. It just does not flow smoothly like it did before loading build 367. Has anyone else noticed this?Is there a way to go back to build 360?My system is a 3.4 GHZ, using a PCI express card, so normally I do not have issues such as this.Thanks,Jim

I love ASV but with my LCD monitor, its already dark. Heck, now when loading up the PMDG 744 I cannot even see anything in VC! I have to turn things on via the 2D panel and then go back to VC. The problem is, I want to keep a regular night sky and not the pitch black one BUT I use the ICS+Random feature and enjoy that option the most. If I have to manually pick the night sky, I will have to manually pick other textures and I don't want to do that. Is there a way to keep a fixed night sky AND keep the ICS+Random feature checked? If not, can there be a fix for those that are like me and in the same position? Heck, I just saw one post over in the LDS767 forum from one guy th…

To all at ActiveSky, would it be too much to ask if you could include an option for those of us that don't care for the pitch black night effect??? I read a fix in another thread (Use the sky set, fixed night; Normal 1) but unless there was a diffident option many would miss this information. A major reason for not tampering with the default night lighting is some add-ons have very limited lighting in the VC which makes it hard to enjoy night flying when everything is pitch black...Thanks... :-)

I made a mistake (I believe) when I started the ASV/ASE install on the machine with WideFS client on it and pointed it to my FS9 directory on my machine that is running FS9. I took a looong time to install (because I have a slower machine that is running the client). So now I think I have to install it from my FS9 machine and point it to my machine with the WideFS client.Am I correct so far?Ok. When I try to uninstall it from the Add/Remove programs on my (slower) machine, I hangs at roughly 65 percent. Is that normal? Can I just remove the entry from my Add/Remove Programs and just install it or will it ruin everything?Thanks.

hi, i have had asv installed for a week now and i am very pleased with it, much better than the fs9 weather, just a couple of things i need advice on. 1 if i want to use just the dxt textures do i still have to install the imagetool. 2 i like to fly on vatsim and was wondering if i can use asv instead of vatsim weather, is so do i have to change any settings in vatsim or asv, also if i can use asv with vatsim will i still get the online updated weather thanks in advance jim

Hi,I have had all of your versions of AS. Just upgraded to the enhanced but have a problem for the first time. When I click the desktop icon it reads "windows trying to congigure ASV"...then it mentions a file that is missing. I can't even shut down the computer at this point. I wonder if this is related to my deleting AS4.5 just after the upgrade...it wouldn't so I just deleted it....amybe a dumb thing to do? I'm afraid I've gotten rid of something shared as well as the 512 texture files I installed. Does this make sense?doug

Hi,I noticed that it says if anybody has ASV 2004.5 that this won't work.I purchased my version this year and it's the ASV Full version 5 does that mean that I won't beable to download the new version and will have to pay for it as I'm not to sure.If the new version will work do I need to uninstall the previous version.Yours SincerleyJason Thompson

I used to be able to do this but now I can't get Wx configuator to work.I select the desired template, tick apply to all locations, click "apply now" and then update. ASV then refreshes but the template metar isn't What have I missed here? Bruceb

I decided to go ahead and get WideFS. Currently I have ASE on the computer running FS9. If I want to install ASE on the non-FS computer, should I uninstall ASE on the FS computer first or will it not care?Thanks.

Hi all,Two issues;Not sure if I'm missing something, but I can only select 64x64 or 256x 256 textures, not the other two. Also, I was reading the tips post, and it says I can pick one day, one night, etc etc, but I only see day sets, nothing else. Maybe I need to read the manual, but if someone could point out what I'm doing wrong, that would be great.Thanks,Jeff

After downloading and the enstalling the new enhanced version of ASV over my current build of 367, I notice the version under the properties for the .exe file is "3671"? Is this correct and if so then I will know it is latest version of this fine product installed? As well, I assume I do not have to reconvert the 128x128 textures?Regards, Tom

I just purchased ASV and really like it so far. I HAVE NOT read any documentation, so I'm probably remiss in posting already. However, I'm using the default settings with online weather, wait 'til it's updated and start flying. I'm noticing very abrupt transitions - lower level clouds that occasionally pop in and out. Not sure whether it's during an update or not. Is there some quick setting I can adjust to make these transitions a little smoother either in ASV or FSUIPC(v3.48)? I won't be offended if you tell me to RTFM! ;-) Thanks,Adam

HiI recently purchased ASV5 and when trying to get active weather the message MAIN THREAD PROCESS ERROR - RETRYING AT NEXT INTERVAL pops up.I am trying to operate this programme from New Zealand.I see there is a previous topic on this forum which suggests installing the "SU2". Hi allI just bought and installed ASE.I followed the installation instructions.I deleted FSUIPC.dll and FSUIPC.ini from FS9/Modules.Copyied FSUIPC.dll from FS)/Modules/ASV to FS9/modules (ver 3.50). It is registered also.Started ASV, configured it and saved.Started FS9, loaded the aircraft I wanted, set all and prepared for flight.When I hit Ctrl+Tab to return to ASV screen, it dispalyed the message on top "ASV Enhanced - FS Disconneted".On the ASV screen, below "Fetch a report" it displays a message saying "FS is not yet connected -"What am I doing wrong?Please helpJoao Tavares

I have AS2004.5 build 180 or so. I just recently downloaded FSUIPC v3.5 and saw that the Taxi Wind feature had been improved.Is it possible to use the taxi wind feature with AS2004, or will it cause strange behavior?Thanks,James

My issue is a weird one; when I start ASVe (via a shortcut) the product wants to install again. So I hit cancel on the install and do that about 5 to 8 times, then the product loads up and works fine. This all started when I read a post in this forum to install ActiveSky 2004, which I did, after I installed ASVe. Also, I didn't uninstall ActiveSky 2004.5, so maybe that's the issue...maybe not.
