Why is it that the CD version of ASVE is almost $20 more? Is that not a bit high?

Hi all,I use ASV and I still have the same problem what I had in AS 4.5. When I approach to my homebase LKPR (Prague-Ruzyne), during approach I get different generated weather in FS from METAR generated in ASV. It changes a few seconds before landing - weather in FS is suddenly generated on the basis FSV metar. For example : I'm 15nm on ILS rwy24 LKPR, alt 4000 ft and in ASV I can see this metarLKPR 012030Z 14004KT 6000 -RA SCT022 BKN063 OVC090 05/04 Q1021 NOSIGbut sky is clear or few clouds, visibility is more than 10km... I did some searching on this forum and found that other people have had problems with ASVe and their reg. copy of FSUIPC...I was wondering if there are any solution to this problem yet?

I just bought the ASV yesterday had my first flight and have to say I am very pleased with it at the moment, but I wanted to know if it's possible to delete some stuff...??I downloaded and installed the 512x512 textures which I believe I correctly transformed to MipMaps and instructed ASV to install them in FS, and it looked very nice with no performance loss on my PC.I however am running short on HD Space on my FS0 drive so I though if there was some way to remove the other types which I choose not to use like 256x256 and the 64x64, I tried before deleting it to put it in zip, but as soon as I have done it upon ASV startup I got some error that some stuff wasn't found, o…

Hi,I have installed ActiveSky5 on my Flight Simulator 2004, and sometimes I have a CDT (crash to desktop). I don't the reason, but it happens in different circumstances (e.g, before the take-off, on cruise.....). Normally I use AS5 in offline mode, I start FS 2004 then AS5 then download the last meteo, disable the internet connection and finally fly.I tried to disable in FS2004 "Rendering Texture" but I don't know if it's correct. Hi ! iam so annoyed right now. Was doing flight EGLL-KMIA once entering the Atlantic the winds and temrpatures just messes up completley i had to quit becuse everything messed up:(.I even had force aloft temprature and stuff. Then all of a sudden i got a wind of 280/100 when the weather generator says like 150/25 and then all of a sudden 300nm from the station that said 150/25 it started changing temp and wind direction and strength all at the same time just about stalled from a stable cruise then it goes back to normal for awhile. I live in Argentina and always (major of the times) obtained the Metar and TAF for mainly all the 86 weather stations of my country.In the last September (2005), 39 of the 86 weather stations where complete with Metar and TAF data. Hi,I have some problem about radar. Everthings work correctly, but when I activate radar (with CTRL+F12) and green light in on, the radar is empty. Hi,I have a couple of problems which appear to be ASVe related(appologies if they aren't)1) ATC doesn't seem to recognise my altitude when flying at standard pressure, I'm constantly being told to "expidite your climb/descent to...", the only way round it seems to be to hit the Baro button and change from standard pressure to local pressure and allow the altitude to settle when I then get clearance to the next FL. I am currently using the PMDG 737/ flying in the UK with FMC (transition level set at 6000'). Ok here's the situation. I have an old version of Activesky wxRE (v 1.0 i think) and I'm getting error messages about a runtime error when downloading metars. So I downloaded the 1.9 update because it claims to fix this problem. The only problem is, when installing, it gets to a certain point in the installation then fails to continue. This also happens with the 1.6 update. Can anyone help?ThanksCrackers

Hi,I tend to use ASV in offline mode, downloading archives. I have now built up quite a collection of archive files and in order to organise them better I created a download folder with individual folders for each month and move the archive after download into the relevent folder. Basically I load a particular file from this directory into ASV set FS time and date and fly. This works well.My question is; if I do the same with a sequence of files, ie move the sequence into another folder after download, then load the initial file into AVS will ASV be able to find the next file in the sequence?David

hi, i installed the 512x512 textures,then enabled dxt textures, after they had been converted i got a pop up box saying that becuase of my security settings dxt textures where not enabled i would have to manually enable them in asv/active enviroment/dxt batch file, so what do i have to do. thanks, jim

I've just installed ActiveSky V enhanced and it's lovely. I'm still trying to work it all out which is great fun.However, there is one 'problem'. I don't like the new effects of rain on the front of the windscreen while in the VC. If memory serves me correctly, with default FS9, while flying through rain, you see it streaking towards you and streaming over the windscreen. Now with ActiveSky enabled, I get a rather ugly moving noise effect. I can still see the rain passing to my sides ala default FS9, but my front view just looks like there's something wrong. No impression of rain heading towards me, just streaming irregular darkened splotches.Is this what was intended? Is…

Jim & Chris, With your infinate knowledge of all that is skybound, do you have any suggestions on how to get rid of the stars appearing directly off the horizon from dawn to dusk. I have messed a bit with pollution and visibility, but those pesky night stars just beam through. I love stars above, and even when climbing in my jet after passing the cloud tops, but when at low levels or on the ground it is a major annoyance. Maybe an FS9 limitation? Hello,I have a problem regarding surface winds. When I change the weather for a loaded flight with the aircraft standing on the runway (ASV weather was also loaded), the wind is not changed.For example:I start ASV and load the saved weather from 08/20 0800Z. Then I start MSFS and load a situation with the aircraft parked on runway 25R at EDDF and change the date and time manually to 08/20 0800Z. In this case the weather is injected as expected to MSFS. That means, that the ASV METAR and the MSFS METAR for EDDF is equal to the wind information, that is displayed in red at the top of the screen after pressing SHIFT+Z.When I now select another time (09/24 0800Z) in MSFS and …

Hi!I am wondering if it may be possible to add a function that allows several instances of ASV to fetch from one "client" ? I am thinking if I and some friends of mine are flying an MP session, we all use ASV-enhanced, but in this MP mode, one user sets his ASV to act as a "server" that will submit the WX once updated to the other connected "clients" ?Like this we are garanteed that all have same weather...just an idea... any thoughts ?Freddy

I installed the Active Sky software, but now I have a problem. when I start flight simulator and enter the FS2004 virtual world, Modules does not appear in the toolbar after pressing the Alt Key. isn't FSUlPC supposed to be under modules? Also there is no periodic green band with text representing an Updated Metar report with weather update. In fact, I don't even see the new texture sets of clouds that I thought I am supposed to see. It's pretty grotty weather in south London tonight so I thought I would have a quick flight from Southend to Biggin in my trusty Cessna and practice coping with rain and crosswinds. After taking off I turned right a few degrees then my wife distracted me for a short while so I put the flight on pause.When I resumed I found myself struggling to make headway. A quick check in the ASV panel showed why. The METAR shows the wind as 230175G27KT. This is being translated as wind from 230 degrees at 175 kts which explains why I am going backwards and sideways!!
