Hello Jim and Damian,I've been using ActiveSky for quite a while now, and I love it.However, there is one little thing that has been bugging me that I have not seen mentioned before. Which leads me to believe it may be something with my setup. It has to do with "visibility".I hope I can explain it sufficiently.Whenever the visibility in the metar is fairly low, the clouds seem to be drawn only out to that visibility limit. This sounds right, but what I see on the screen is a very distinct cut off of the clouds. As I fly along, I can see the clouds being drawn, in a "flickering" sort of manner, as this visibility "wall" (for lack of a better term) is moving along with me. …

Hello. I was hoping someone could answer a question for me regarding Active Radar. It seems that everything is working, but, I don't see anything in the radar. I even setup the weather for thunderstorms just to check but still nothing shows. I even hear it raining outside.Does anyone know why I wouldn't be able to see any colors? All the other buttons seems to work. Thanks!

Hello. I'm hoping someone will answer this quick question for me regarding the proper method to load a flightplan when using ASVE.According to the documentation it is this way...1) Start ASVE, download weather and let all processes complete.2) ASV Automatically submits textures to FS2004.3) Start FS2004 and load your flight.I guess my question is this... What if you haven't created your flightplan yet? Do you have to launch FS2004, create a flightplan and save it and then proceed with the above? Or, is creating a flightplan in ASVE do the exact same thing as doing it in FS2004? If so, when you get to step 3 above do you just need to load the plan is FS2004 once it…

I just bought ASV and while installing it asked for my name and order number. The only number on my receipt is a long 16 digit "receipt ID" which is much too long for the order number space. What number do I put in here? Thanks. Tom

First of all, thanks to JSkorna for his help on FlightSim forums! :)On to my new problem:In this time of software registrations I've grown SO used to registering a program and receiving a registration key in exchange, that it never once occured to me that ASVE might not work that way. It simply wasn't something I even momentarely thought of. Imagine my surprise when I collected my SimMarket digital download of ASVE and realized that was it - no registration key in sight. On top of that SimMarket will only allow 10 downloads of the software AND even then they'll only maintain the download link untill the 24th of this month. My question therefore is this: what can I do if I …

When I print my flight plan in FSNavigator the type is dark. When I print the weather in ASV, the print is very light. I don't think there is but was wondering if there was a way to make the print in ASV darker. It is not printer related.JimCYWG

Quick question.. I have ASV and like it very much. I am thinking of getting FE to use in conjunction with ASV, but have a question. With FE, do I need to go into the program before each flight and select the type of clouds I want ASV to generate, or does this happen automatically? I would rather ASV pick the type of cloud based off of the metar ect. Thanks!BZ

Can anyone help?I recently installed ASV Enhanced. I Already had Flight Environment installed which I am very happy with. I understood that the two worked together very well, but I am having problems. The clouds redraw every couple of seconds and my 2D cockpit stutters along with it.I fly online with VATSIM and use that networks weather for consistency. How can I stop ASV and FE from fighting with each other? I want to use FE's clouds and water. I just want ASV to update the weather. That's why I got it, as I heard it would smooth out the transitions from one weather system to another. That was the appeal of it.I have read the manual and foolow it to the letter. Maybe I mis…

I noticed in one of the videos of ActiveSky and in some screenshots that there is blue sky visible on the horizon of most overcast pictures. I remember this being an annoying problem in FS 2002, where there was a thick blue horizon even with full overcast. Is this a problem with ActiveSky in FS 2004 or is it just in these particular shots? The upper border of the pictures shows "FS'04 CofF". I have not experienced this problem in FS04. It appears to have been fixed. Thanks. Regards, Tom

Hi guys, I'm new here. I currently have FSMeteo V 7.o. One thing that annoys me is even with my resources set to optimum and FS9 running smoothly, whenever it updates the weather I get pauses and stutters that last for several seconds. I was wondering if this happens with AS also, or is it unnoticeable when it updates? Maybe some former FSM users know what I am talking about. This may help me make a decision and get AS if it runs smoothly. Thanks. Tom

Using ASV, I am now in the fastest winds I have ever seen in FS9 and I am glad I am going with it instead of against it! Currently enroute to EHAM from JFK. I am on the BOS to ENE portion of the flightplan and current winds are 271 at 167kts!! Obviously I am in the jetstream. Highest GS was 663! At this rate, my flight time is cut down an hour and a half!

Damian & Jim, I had this problem before with ActiceSky 4.5 where after a few months of use, the radar display would not depict any clouds when it was clearly snowing or raining. Long story short, we were unable to solve the problem. After I upgraded to AS5, the problem went away for a few months, recently I noticed that the same thing is happenning again. Are there certain files in activeradar that are getting corrupt over time? Thanks, you know I cant live without this product, so please help!

Hi there I wonder if anyone can help. I have a problem when using the PMDG 737 and ASV, but not other aircraft.Sometimes ground textures, mainly taxiways & runways go black when running ASV and ASVE. It only last a second or so, but is understandably irritating. There were no problems with AS2004.5. Once airbourne, there are also rectangular chunks of ground texture substantially darker than others next to them. I have played around with some of the display setting but to no avail. Is it a driver issue? - I don't have problems with other programmes in FS9. Any other ideas?Thank you. Graham

Hi all,Again with a question which relates to the realism of ASE provided weather environment. I have just downloaded and loaded the real weather with ASE. It reports (the green line on the FS window) the latest METAR taken at my airport and changes the ambient temperature at the airport. It's ok with temperature. But can i be sure that the real weather report dictates the subsequent change in the ASE textures (i have both 128x128 and 256x256 texture models) and that i can later make some changes on this (real) "weather textures" using the Active Environment?Thank you.Regards,Bina

Hi,I'm having problems loading FS2004. The progress bar gets to 77% (Loading Weather) and it then stops and shortly after I get the option to restart FS9.I've tried loading a new flight with no clouds and it's fine. If I then add a cloud layer FS locks up. All this points to a problem with one or more cloud textures.I have ASV installed. I'm debating whether the best course is to uninstall and reinstall ASV. Any suggestions would be welcome. Would I need to copy back the default FS textures to their original folder?I'm running ASV from another PC via WideFS. I assume this would not cause any uninstallation problem. Thanks for any help.Cheers,

Boy, here's an odd question. Does anyone have any idea/question or comment about the ability of Active Sky Enhanced to work successfully through a Windows XP emulated Mancintosh G4 networked with FS9 on a PC. In other words, Microsoft has a package to install and run Windows XP on a MAC and to therefore run PC applications, such as Active Sky, on a Macintosh including networking the MAC with a PC. I am sort of assuming that if you can run and network a PC and a MAC via the Microsoft emulation software, that Active Sky will still work successfully from the MAC to FS9 on the MAC! (man, it was difficult to phrase the question even!)Randy Jura, KPDX
