I was reading how it is advisable to uninstall older versions of AS to savce disk space, but before I did this, I wanted to backup AS6 to a CD-rom. When I backed up the AS6 folder, it took about 20 seconds..... huh, that folder has to be bigger than that, to hold all the clouds etc... I then looked at the size of the AS6 folder and it is only around 28 Megs total. It has no folder in it named "Active environment"( with all the clouds in it) like the ASV folder does and the AS 5 folder, by comparison is 718 Megs. Is my installation corrupt, and if so, what should I do to fix it? I already tried running a reinstall of AS6 and used the repair function, and it appears unc…

Hi, first time I really encounter a problem with AS. After upgrading from ASV extended to ASv6 there is no connection between FS2004 and AS anymore?!?! I already reinstalled ASV and thus ASv6 with no cure. And yes, I copied the fsuipc provided with ASv6 into my modules folder. Any idea?Phil

Hi,I've just downloaded and tried to install the ASV6 upgrade installation. I have ASV 5 installed. The installer ran and created the ASV6 full installer. I have run this and I get a screen which is asking for my order number. What do you put here? Is it your ASV5 order number or do I just ignore the request for the order number and continue on with the installation. Not sure if it's relevent but I'm running XP 64 pro and have .NET 2 installed.Thanks in advance.Steve

Gents,I wanted to echo the Thank You's that everyone is saying. AS6 is a truely amazing product. Installation and initial operation went flawlessly. After four flights playing around with the themes, I seem to be getting better FR than with ASV. Have you updated your "proud supporter" signature banner to AS6 yet? I looked but didn't see it. I followed the installation instructions to a T and have now completed the process succesfully. However, I noticed that my FS9/modules directory still contains the old ASV folder with some residual files and folders:"ActiveEnvironment" (folder with "FS_Texture_Backup" and "Themes" folders, plus "action.log")"SavedWeather" (folder)"Voice" (folder with "Voice1" and "Voice2" folders)"as2004.log" (file)"ASV.log" (file)"wx-export.met" (file)Can these all be deleted, or does ASv6 still access the ASV folder for something?

OK, Im confused even after reading the documention, especially for the new version 6 for WideFS usage; when do you start FS9 to take advantage of ALL of the graphics capabilities? Do you have to have ASV6.0 completely loaded, flight plan and all with FS9 completely off? or can you have FS9 started up to say the "create a flight" screen and start up ASV6.0 then? I am not sure how to tell if the nice random features of ASV6.0 are installed into FS9 to use???Randy Jura, KPDX

hi guys, thanks so very much for this fantastic upgrade. I'm loving the ever changing sunsets and "haze". :) I have a quick question, in the attached screenshot you can see that there are some artifacts around the cloud edges which are pretty pronounced. I am using 64x64 and DXT (have to because of my poor system). I remember seeing this sometimes in ASVE and AS4.5, but never this pronounced. Am I doing something wrong? Also, I'm using wx-infuenced themes for clouds and textures. Thanks for any help, and thanks again for this great upgrade. Happy Holidays!ryan

Just got a link to a web site that allows you to input a valid flight plan into their form, then converts it to a .PLN file for MS and Active Sky.I know alot of you use FSBuild, FSNav and a few others for this purpose, but I've been using http://flightaware.com/live/ which gives you real time flight tracking and their respective flight plan. With the advent of the much improved ASV6 does anybody see the need for running Flight Environment as well? In ASVe I found that the rain effects were not as good as FE, but there seems to be an improvement in ASV6. Are there any disadvantages? Are the water textures still better in FE than ASV6? I read in one forum that FE was keen to "tie in" with weathermaker pro. I certainly don't want to buy another weather package just to get FE running optimally.Are there any thoughts or opinions out there?RegardsPeterH
