I have been running ActiveSky since AS2004 V1.0, most of the time using WideFS. It has performed excellently, and I now never fly without it! However, having now attempted to upgrade my ASVE build 367 to ASv6 build 441, I have hit a problem with ActiveSky Graphics install.I get the following error when trying to start ASG:"ASG.exe - Application ErrorThe application failed to initialise properly (0xc0000135). Click on OK to terminate the application"OK is the only option presented.ASv6 has installed correctly (once I realised that the new drive mapping for the weather station list update had to be precicely pointing to the "application data" directory on the FS9 machine…

I did the upgrade from ASVE to ASv6 then installed the SU1. All was working fine untill today, I was unable to add a new route. I ran the repair utility, and all is working ok now.My question: Do I need to run the SU1 again? If not-would it do something bad if I did?P.S. The product is realy helping to bring the sim to life:-spacecraft . Great work:-beerchug .Thank youJim

1. On route KPDX to KSFO just now this is the metar for KSFO:KSFO 310256Z 19019G26KT 6SM BR SCT020 BKN025 OVC042 16/14 A2979 RMK AO2 PK WND 19029/0233 RAE14B31E46 CIG 013 RWY L10 SLP089 P0002 60005 I used force destination weather, but along the approach via PYE to 19L despite the very poor weather predicted by the METAR I had great vistas of the City Of San Francisco and Oakland,(obvioulsy within a few miles of the airport) although it was a bit hazy the sky was mostly clear. It was not until nearly at the runway ( a couple of miles out) that I began to see any real clouds.I remember this lack of forced destination weather being an issue with earlier version of Active Sk…

Hey guys, I must say, excellent product! Though I do have a couple of questions. -I've noticed that the VAS points create a bit of lag. Not too much, but noticeable at times. Is this really even needed? Critical? What can I do to have less lag.-I've noticed after upgrading from ASVe that my active radar does not seem to appear any more. Any ideas? Thanks guys!Chase Stigberg

I vistied your website and I was very impressed from the cirrus clouds and sky color screen shots. However one issue I thought of before forking out the payment for Active Sky 6. When the next FS10 or FS11 comes out, will I still be able to use it in the newer FS software or will Active Sky be remade to work in the newer FS and provide the upgrade or update free of charge to existing customers who do not want to be stuck using FS9?-Chris

Being on dial up, I hesitated purcahsing ASV because the d/l was approximately 96Megs. In follow a link to the Flight 1 d/l page for ASV6, it shows a file size of just 46M. I was able to successfuly d/l this size file but am hesitant to run the installer for fear I may heav to d/l yet another large file. Can someone tell me if the 46M file size is all I need? I sure hope so, been wanting Active Sky for quite some time.ThanksJim

HiI notice some behaviour not present in previuous version of ActiveSkyIf I for example enable TAF procesing with offline mode and choose to fly 270800Z (weather file) and have in options menu enabled TAF and unchecked "use system time", ASV allways displays under "Closest station report" valid station but with wrong data (date on my PC-system date). In FS2004 I choose 27.12., 08:00Z, because I have weather file for this date. If I change system time on my PC, this also changes Closest Station Report date. With TAF disabled I get correct date.See picture in attach.Could you please give me correct settings. Thanks in advance Edin

I have two systems set up the same, both having FS9 and ASV6. I use the second system as a backup. I'm considering running WideFs on the second system. Although I won't be running FS9 on #2, I *will* be running ASV. However, I *also* have ASV in the Modules folder of system #1 - will this cause a conflict? I'm guessing that I'd have to rename a few dll's on #1 when running WideFs and restore when I run standalone.Hope that made sense :)VicVisit the Virtual Pilot's Centerwww.flightadventures.comhttp://sales.hifisim.com/pub-download/asv6-banner-proud.jpg

Hi!At first I had ActiveSky 6 running on my FS9-PC.Then I've set up ActiveSky 6 via a WideFS-connection, which worked fine. But I can't use this other PC (it's a laptop, btw) all the time. So I have to be able to switch back to one-PC-usage when I need to ...When I tried to start up ActiveSky on the PC again, it told me that there was an error regarding the initialization files and quit without further advice. What can I do (besides re-installing ASV 6)?Thanks!regards,Japhy

I'm in the process of setting up WideFS. Would there be any advantage in running ASV6 under WideFS? My current system is a P4 3.4G 2G ram and NVidia 6800 card running XP SP2. I usually have my frames set to 30 and except for heavy clouds in dense areas generally have no major slowdowns. Plan on trying FSNav and RadarContact ( when it arrives ) under WideFs and just wondered if I'd get any benefit.Same question applies to Active Radar - any benefit there?Thanx,VicVisit the Virtual Pilot's Centerwww.flightadventures.comhttp://sales.hifisim.com/pub-download/asv6-banner-proud.jpg

Hello allI just bought and installed ActiveSky 6 and when I start FS9 I get an error message saying that Squawkbox does not work because it can't find FSUIPC or something like that. I installed FSUIPC 3.52 as requested when I started AS6 but now even AS doesn't recognize FS. Neither does my old version AS2004.5.What to do?Best RegardsIngi

Looking at the Graphics program and route planning - I see a big question mark. If I have a flight plan and process it offline, it appears as if only most recent time / reports are used? What happens if I plan on flying six hours or several days in the past? It seems as if all weather influenced graphic choices would then be based on "bad" data. So when I start FS and adjust the date and time the plan updates (or not?). Then the "weather influenced" graphics may very well not match? Is this correct?Trying to get a handle on this great release.Thx,Joe Lorenc

I am wondering if it would be possible to have a little less bright halo files. When turning on landing and taxi lights they totally white out the ground infront of me! It would be better if they were less bright to give a real lighting up effect rather than a blinding effect. Thanks for the great work! One of the best programs for flight sim ever created!

I get the following error when trying to run ActiveSky Graphics:"The application failed to initialize propbably (0xc0000135)"ActiveSky itself works fine and so did all my previous version of ActiveSky. I have reinstalled and run the installer through repair mode a few times, but with no luck. I have Flight Environment installed. (Dunno if it has an influence since they are both similar programs) I have 768mg RAM and a 2.4GHz processor with very recent onbard intel graphics card. It has never given me any trouble and even works with the most recent games. (E.g. Knights of the Temple II)Please help

Reformatted and reloaded windows xp on my laptop. Installed ASV6 per instructions and ran asv6, interface loaded no problem. All appropriate folders are set up for sharing on Main pc and laptop. When I open up ASG it asks me to point to FS9 on main pc and it saves. Then when I choose my options and click the green check to send to FS I get the following error-There was an error accessing your FS9 Path...Submit Failed..Access to the path "DOCNDOCSCOPILOTMicrosoft GamesFlight Simulator 9Texturecirrus_broken.bmp"is denied.OKI never had any trouble sending the new textures across with ASV before the reformat. Please help. I am not sure I understand what mapping means. I …

To be honest, I don't know if this is a problem caused by AS... but it seems like the most logical place to search for help. If I don't find any hear, I'll try elsewhere. The problem is that my aircraft gains/loses 30, 40, 50, or more knots seemingly at random! Today during climbout through FL290, I got a huge boost and went from a 1500'/min climb to a 10,000'/min climb [using the Level Change autopilot function]. Then in cruise an hour later, I went from 280KIAS to 195KIAS in about 5 seconds. During this time the winds aloft as indicated by the PMDG panel were constant. During descent then I went from 315KIAS to 360KIAS instantly.. then overspeed, overstress, crash. …

Hello,Why is the '~370K' WX download into ASv6 so quick (1 sec) when FS9 is not started, but so terribly slow (>130 sec) when FS9 is active ? It does not matter whether FS9 is paused or even minimized, and there is plenty of idle CPU cycles ...

Hi Gang.I notice that there is a FSUIPC.dll already in the active radar folder, and yet my version is newer, so, do I get rid of the one in the active radar folder, or just over-write it with my newer one, or, does it need to be in there at all.many thanks,Steve,

Hi all,I have just finished the install of AS6. I use it via widefs.I have followed the instructions and just want to check things. The new graphics I ran the graphics program on my non fs PC that runs widefs and it backed all the files up etc fine, so that told me it was happy. How can I double check that the new textures have been installed into my fs9 PC?? Just for piece of mind!!Thanks for a great program.Mark P

I just downloaded the new upgrade. With ASV Enhanced, every time I ran the program, I believe that it automatically generated a new theme so I didn't have to manually create one each time I ran FS9.I can't remember how I got to that point or how I set that up in the new Active Sky.Can someone give me a quick pointer. I'm not fully understanding the manual. To clarify, I just want to be able to run AS, have it automatically choose an environment, and go.Thanks!Jeff

The following is a list of settings that provide the most realistic visuals using ASv6 and FS2004.Before I begin, some disclaimers:1. Realistic is in the eye of the beholder. What is realistic for one may not be realistic for another.2. Performance may vary from one computer to another, even with the same hardware. I will try to comment on things as necessary.OK, on to the list!1. Make sure all your hardware drivers are up to date. This includes video card, motherboard drivers, DirectX, and sound card drivers.2. In FSUIPC make sure you are using Default Settings and Weather Settings Off.3. In FS2004: Sight Distance set to 60. This setting does not affect the visibilit…
