I just purchased ASGv6 largely for the real-time and archived weather data. I have tried to download last week's blizzard on the East Coast but have been unsuccessful. There are no instructions in the ASG User's Manual so I tried to use some common logic, but I must be missing a step. This is what I did:1. Opened ASv6 WX Engine2. Restarted FS93. In the WX Engine under New Route, entered departure and destination IDs, KTAS and Cruise Altitude which when processed produced a WX Report and NAV Log.4. Under "download" I entered Download Year, Month, Day and Hour, then pushed Download Archive from last weeks weather. The WX was "made active and saved" and "online updates we…

This is probably a strange question. I'd like to browse through the archived weather on my laptop (which doesn't have MSFS installed), then when I find some good nasty weather, download it and transfer it to my FS-equipped desktop computer. Just wondering if I can install AS6 on the laptop computer, just for downloading purposes, or if it will refuse to install if it doesn't find MSFS.Thanks!Dan

This is probably a limitation of the game... but when flying at higher altitudes in rain, and the outside air temperature is negative, would it be possible to have snow instead of rain?

Jim and CompanyI noticed there is a newer version (Jan 06) of FSUIPC than the December 05 version that was downloaded as part of the ASv6 purchase. If I paste the newer version into modules will it cause problems with ASv6?Thanks in advance.KemoF15

Jim and CompanyIs there any way to adjust traffic contrails? Seems as though they default to FS9 settings...given certain weather/temp conditions, contrails may linger for some time and be extended for many miles. Thanks in advanceKemoF15 (aka Rake in FS9 forum...not sure I get the guy who slammed me in FS9 forum for saying what a terrific product ASv6 is..whatever)

I did a flight today from Donegal to Dublin and to my amazement I found snow in and around the Dublin to Meath area. It didn't snow at all today or yesterday and it hasn't snowed anywhere in the country since last November yet this is what I see in flightsim:http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/142360.jpgWhy is it that snow is showing up where it hasn't snowed? Cheers,James

ActiveSky V6 Build 470 commences download of weather and fails after 37kb of data. Tries to translate and fails. This has just started to happen - could the weather database be corrupt?Paul

I've looked through and tried all the suggestions but I can't seem to get ATC to direct me to the correct runways. I'm consistently getting vectored to runways with a 15+ knot tailwind, not to mention being cleared for takeoff with the same problem. Refresh and refresh AI seem to do nothing. I've changed so many parameters now that I'm confused as to what I've done and what means what. How should I start from fresh and resolve this issue? I have a registered version of FSUIPC. Thanks...- daniel

I saw this yesterday (in AS6 I mean), just a single stratus layer with a few Cumulous clouds above, lightning flashes all over the place. Is lightning generated outside of CB in AS6? On similar note, so far when there have been TS The clouds do not seem to reach very high, most CB clouds would be a great stack a several miles across and 25000 or more high, is that not possible in AS6? (bit framerate hit or something) or do I need a different setting? So far I am using the realism settings reccomended in here with WX influenced autosubmit. On different matter but a frequent topic, is the ovc issue, I was flying across an area that had snow falling, as I approached it you …

Ok, I did read the FAQ's and did what was instructed, I'm pretty convinced that this CTD problem is caused by AS6.I had this problem awhile ago. I'm honestly not sure if I was running AS6.0 - 6.1 - 6.2, I honestly don't remember. I never thought the inital problem was related to AS, but now I think it was. Anyway after the first incident I cleaned up my drives, did alot of maintinece... uninstalled alot of junk that I wasn't using anymore and reinstalled FS and my other addons. Mind you, this was no easy process, and I'm not looking forward to doing this again, hance why I'm posting. Anyway, I downloaded and reinstalled AS6.1 from the website, no problems at all. Was able…

Had to reinstall FS2004 and my addons including ASV Enhanced, but after I have installed it and try to start the program I get an error saying something like "msvbvm60.dll is missing......."?!?Any suggestions?

Hi guys, first off, thanks for your continued hard work. Truly amazing how much effort you guys put in (and you have a FINE product to show for it)! My question: some time ago there was a discussion about being able to add "custom" weather reporting stations to the list. It was mentioned that this would likely be in the next big release (I guess sp3). Is this still in the works? Reason I ask is because NZQN always pulls weather from NZCH or NZDN but unfortunately their weather is very rarely the same.best,Ryan

I signed up just to share this piece of information for your: after three days of desperation trying to prevent ActiveSky from crashing randomly, but especially after switching windows or from and to Full Screen View, I discovered that by disabling the "Vertical Sync" feature of my (nvidia 6600 based) graphics card, I could not stop CTDs but also gain 10 fps. You find the Vertical Sync option in the Control Panel > Display, or by right-clicking the desktop and selecting "Properties". Then go to Settings - Advanced. The controls wills be in different places for different card manufacturers, check you manual if necessary. For nvidia cards, look for "Performance and Quali…

Hi folks,Please could someone explain what the overcast enhancement does? Does it double the layer thickness (vertical), add a second layer or just patch up any holes? The reason I ask is that I have found a quite pleasent FPS increase by turning off this option and have not yet managed to spot a big visual difference...On a slightly related note - I often see lines and corners in the overcast layers when above them as if they were being rendered as interleaved plates - is this normal??Cheers,Geoff

Thanks for your quick reply...I did as you suggested to get a solid scud deck: wx configurator and select low overcast option. I applied it to all weather stations. I took off from KDCA climbed to 12000ft. pretty solid until 50nm north and I was getting patchy clearing directly over BWI. I was also getting those pop-up cumulus at 16000 feet (see attached pic). I made sure I had Cumulus over stratus not selected etc. I was curious what stratus separation provides in the options page...I currently have mine at 7000 (I believe that is the default value). Thanks in advanceKemoF15

Caveat: Superb product...very close to reality...light years ahead of FS weather module. That said:How do I "force" AS to give me a stratus deck from 300 feet to 8000 feet with no breaks from let's say Cleveland (KCLE) to Wash DC (DCA)?It seems even with overcast enhancement (I read and applied Jim Skorna's Realistic Weather Settings advice), 5 layers selected, auto submit/wx influenced I can't replicate a complete scud deck of stratus other than the immediate reporting stations, in this case, CLE and DCA.With auto-submit/Wx influenced selected, it appears I get some spurious clouds that are not on the METAR for a selected station. For instance, I may get several differ…
