Hey Damian. As I have said before and will say again how awesome the AS series is and how much realism it brings to the table. I am just wondering what I got to do to increase the performance. Lately I built a new system.AMD FX60Dual 5800 GTX's1 Gig OCZ 4000Asus A8N32-sli moboNow this system is almost the best money could buy except I can get a bit better by going with some 7900 cards now. I spent a small fotune on my upgrade. Putting weather aside I can load my LDS, PMDG, or whatever in Seattle and have just about all my sliders maxed out. I can easily get 35-40 fps and talking about smooth. not a glitch. Now when I bring AS intot the picture it sure drops the performanc…

Hi allIs there anyway to avoid these horrible square cloud shapes? Sorry about the poor screenie, but I nearly missed them. They only appear in some cloud types.Thanks,Garry

I had FS Skyworld in FS9 before purchasing Active Sky. I deleted FS Skyworld but now I'm wondering if the graphics were compatible. FSSW had some really nice cloud and sky combinations. Will the two work together? If so, I'll reinstall my FS Skworld. I just didn't want a conflict.Thanks

Jim,I now have ASV6 installed on the FS PC. I wish to install WideFS. Must I uninstall ASV6 first before installing it on the secondary PC ?Roger

I recently upgraded my previous version of ActiveSky to version 6. I also installed the service upgrades. For some reason I'm not getting the weather radar. I did in the older versions. I can't, for the life of me, figure out why this should be. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Hi Damian and Jim.....This may seem like a very silly question, but I seem to have a problem with the new build. The problem is that the options page is cut off on the bottom of the screen so that the SAVE option is unavailable. I have tried varying the screen res but to no avail. The lower part of the options page is simply cut off. I really am stumped......how can I get back the SAVE tab?Thanks in advance......Pipper

I am having a problem with AS not reading flightplans exported from FSNavigator in FS 2004 format. It will read .pln files created by the FS flightplanner, but when I try to load a .pln in AS created by FSNav, I get the error message "Error saving new .PLN file - check your folder/network settings and/or permissions."As I said, I am unable to load the FSNav .pln exports, but FS created .pln files work just fine. Any ideas?KP

Couldnt find an answer so hopefully you can help. This is the first time I had to exit FS and restart FS while AS was running. I figured AS would detect the exit and restart of FS and refresh wx...It doesnt seem to do that and when I did a manual refresh it just sat there for the flight and nothing was updated.Question is should I have also exited AS along with FS and start over with both?ThanksBill

I was the one who initially posted the issue about SU4 hanging up on the Decrypting stage of an update when running in windowed mode. You all went right to work and this fix you've released is AWESOME.This problem has completely gone away, and now the update is taking only a FRACTION of time. I disabled the throttling for processing and writing and all of this is super-quick on my system now.Thank you so much for fixing this! I can leave my plane flying in windowed mode without having to minimize it every 20 minutes so I can update. You guys rock.

Good afternoon everyone,Ive rescently purchased Active sky 6 today being the 29th March 2006.The AS works fine and generates the weather ok I guess as per any of the other versions. However when I have fs9 running and AS6 running , if I select active sky graphics in the top left corner nothing happens. It certainly doesnt bring up any other screen as per the manual.Also If I select Active sky graphics from the drop down list eg Start/programs/active sky 6/active sky graphics...it comes up with the followingASG.exe - Application errorThe application failed to inialize properly (0xc0000135).Click on OK to terminate.Ive tried it with fs9 running and not running and with AS6 …

I am using AS2004.5 and I noticed that two airports that I added to FS9 are not in the database. RJGG and EGCN, do not report any weather.Is there any way to input these airports to AS2004.5 and have them report their weather?Thanks JP

I need some clarification. What is the difference between AS Graphics and AS? I mean I know the difference but I don't know really how to use the Graphics. For example, the Graphics has Environments and Schemes etc.. which can be sent to FS9 but AS has a WX Configurator, what's the difference? When do you use the Graphics if AS can change the weather? Now that AS is installed, what do I set the weather to in FS9? Do I use the weather function in FS9 anymore? Any help please in explaining.

Hello,I have a quick question about ASV6. I've noticed that the data for winds aloft is quite different based on which server does the downloading. For example, over KDTW, the Primary Server shows winds for FL300 at 354/29, while the Secondary Server shows 159/25. Over a 180 degree difference! The FAA/NOAA data shows winds out of the north, north-east. So it seems the Primary Server, in this case, is correct.I also tested some numbers using a flight plan I have from EGLL-KLAX. The Primary Server gave an average wind of 289/62 and the Secondary of 304/31. Quite a difference!Just wondering why this is.Thanks,Christian

I wanted to post my current Activesky settings to get a better understanding of the "most realistic" settings for the best possible depiction of weather. Is a log file or *.ini file in the ASV6 directory that I can post?Also, I am currently using Random All for my sky themes and other setting for ActiveSky Graphics for updates when FS closed.Per screenshots posted in another thread are those Random generated OR is their a preferred theme that is most popular?I have found a few times when I loaded FS that I liked the results (random) but a few I didn't care for as much.Thanks,

Hi,Something strange I've noticed.I always fly with online weather. So, I'm at my departure airport, I load AS6, load a flightplan and refresh the weather. The METAR gives me the actual QNH, says 1009Hpa for example.I set this value on my altimeter in FS and i should read the Airport's altitude (definition of QNH) but it's not the case.If I push "B" key then I have the correct altitude for the airport with a different QNH value which does not corresponds to the one given by the METAR.Any Idea ?Stephane

Hi all. Since update 4 I am having problems with the program hanging at the "Decrypting and writing data to disk" stage. At program start it does fine and after I import a flightplan everything seems normal too. The problem occurs after FS9 starts. When the weather starts to update it gets only to this point and stops. Refresh does nothing to fix the problem either. This is the first problem I've had with this excellent program since the beginning, a few years ago. I wonder if anyone else is experiencing this. I'd be curious to hear about it. Thanks.

It may just be a coincidence, but after updating ASV6 with update #3, FS9 crashes at 40% load...during or at the end of loading terrain. It stops running and it seems Active Sky and Graphics does too until I end task on FS9, then it shows as running. I have tried running FS9 by itself, rebooted and tried all combinations of running or not running programs, reset defaults, reloaded (repair) ASV6 and still no good...the same exact thing. Any ideasMr. Steve

Does anyone know if Silver Wings by Bob Lyons will affect the look of Active Sky 6? It adds low "frame-rate hit" clouds, replaces Autogen, textures, and Scenery/World/Textures. I don't know if it overwrites or just adds to them. I would like to have Active Sky weather and Silver Wings other stuff. I hope that it's possible.Mr. Steve

Hello,Since a few weeks I have a problem which i cannot find any info about on the several forums. I have attached a picture to make a bit clear what is happening. As you can see there is a clear line above the horizon (like dividing sky from haze or so?) and sometimes, like in this picture, it looks like even some blocks are missing. I never saw it before till some weeks ago. Only things I have installed lately are the latest beta release of as6 and Ground Environment.I've tried all kinds of settings, even if i choose for low visibility, i still can see the line through the haze...Maybe it's not caused by as6 but if anyone can tell me what is causing this i would be real…

Conditions should be solid overcast, but FS9 is showing only the lowest layer of few/scattered clouds. It doesn't look like the broken or overcast layers are being shown. Also, look at the decoded versus reported. The overcast layer is missing but there should still be a broken layer at 7000. I continued my climbout and got to 3000+ AGL with no change. I have the update 4 beta loaded. This is the first time I have noticed this problem.
