Hi,Just quick question do I need to download the new version above or is it still in beta testing as am not 100% sure. You know you have to use the Flight planning tool in FS9 to get the winds across your route isn't there an easier way as I feel I'm not getting the benifit from ASV also when you use the map the little arrow doesn't seem to be heading towards the same airport as me unless I'm missing something with the programme as its so good anyone got any idea's or suggestions and the graphics thing i'm totally lost with aswell.ThanksJason Thompson

I've read the "realistic settings" by Jim, but still I'm confused. Therfore I beg you to help me. I would like to have: - a more or less realistic weather impression,- a relativly good FPS,- a horizon which is a little diffuse (no sharp line!).I would like to avoid:- sudden wind and cloud changes,- sudden changes in barometric pressure and temperature during cruise.I have the newest Beta version of AS6 and the newest registered FSUIPC. My favorite aircraft is the PMDG 747F and Pax.Be so kind and tell me exact (for dummies) what to do in FS9, FSUIPC, AS6.Thank you!By the way. Since I bought AS6, I'm much happier!

I've downloaded the weather with FS9 to keep it after safing the flight. Then, when I later loaded AS6 I got a message that AS6 will change my safed weather situation. I could only press OK - and my safed special weather was deleted... How can I avoid this?

I am still using ASV, but I have a weather issue...I did a flight from KBOS to KDEN in LDS767, and before departure I set the following weather within 100 miles of KDEN:34004kt 1sm ovc007 ovc030 +sn M03/m03 29.80I do NOT have TAF processing on. Online updates were disabled. When I arrived in KDEN, I had ovc003 and 1 mi vis, but NO SNOW! I landed, taxied to the gate, and checked the ASV weather reporting box...the correct report is mentioned, but still no snow showing out the window. So, I clicked on "Refresh Weather", went back into FS, and guess what? A HUGE snowstorm!!So, what am I doing wrong? BTW I have noticed this same problem before when trying to set destina…

Hi Guys (and readers), Yesterday this thought crossed my mind while processing a "new route". I don't use any external flight plan utilities, and I fly the same 25 to 30 routes in my 757/767 while simming. Would it be a viable option in future releases to be able to save the info created when a "new route" is processed, so one can just load it (like a saved weather file), eliminating the repetativness of typing in all the parameters? Or funnier yet, is this already possible, and I just don't know that? :-lol Just a thought, not a big deal, but thought it would be cool.Lovin' every day with ASV6 as it is, so it's all good...thanks all,Neil :)

First, for anyone who's interested, I posted a new thread in the screen shot forum in which ASv6 is featured prominently. :)http://forums.avsim.net/dcboard.php?az=sho...id=230465&page=Also, just a personal observation re: the FAQ "CTD" item. I initially set up ASG to use DXT textures (assuming they' be smaller and therefore lower impact), and immediately started experiencing CTDs in FS. I returned to standard textures (256x) and the CTDs went away. Your mileage may vary.

Hope you don't mind answering what is probably a simple question?I have read the manual, but I am still a little puzzled. I would like to fly in OFFLINE mode under the following scenario.I want to fly, for example, a five hour flight with real weather at departure, en route and destination. Do I have to downlaod the weather for the full five hour period and then ensure I have TAF processing enabled? Will this give me the departure weather at take-off time and destination weather at +5 Zulu? That's my understanding of the manual - am I right? Thanks in advanceMalcolm

Simple one, this one but one which I can't find an answer for - though i suspect I've missed it rather than there not being one.Anyway, what setting do I use for FS9 "selected Weather" in create a flight? I've got Activesky running, destination selected. I go into FS9 to create a flight from that destination, but what do I select for weather. I want realworld weather from Activesky. Does it overwrite any weather theme I select in FS9, or do I have to set it to realworld weather (though doesn't thet mean it still uses Jeppesen)?Sorry if the answer is already there, or I'm just being plain dumb.

Now, don't get me wrong. I'm not criticising, I love AS, but as they say, if you don't ask, you'll never know!Just been searching for some interesting weather in AS, and I selected Thunderstorms.I got approx. ten options, including the below:5: NZKI 000000Z 16022G35KT 020V200 5SM BKN010 TSRW 18/16 A2980 6: NZOH 000000Z 16022G35KT 020V200 5SM BKN010 TSRW 18/16 A2980 7: NZPP 000000Z 16022G35KT 020V200 5SM BKN010 TSRW 18/16 A2980 8: NZWN 000000Z 16022G35KT 020V200 5SM BKN010 TSRW 18/16 A2980Now, NZWN is about....hmmm....five miles away, as the seagulls fly.NZPP is an hours drive away up north, or 17 hours during public holidays!I don't know what you call the data line above …

Hello FS Captains and ASV6 users.I am having some difficulty with the settings of Auto Vas Frequency and Strenght in ASV6. When airbourne, I often see in ASV interface that VAS points are set. These settings mostly change the whole appearence of the weather in FS9 ( from cloudy to CAVOK for example). Could anyone explain the most realistic or useful settings of these two features, please ?And if you don't mind, then please use "easy words", because my english is not very good !Thanks a lot !

Hi to all,i'm using ASV6 SP3 (Build 470); AS has full access through my firewall (ZoneAlarm) but doesn't download any archived wheater nor the current one. It always tells me that there is an error, so i should try later. The error message in the download window is too long to read (the statement in the brakets is cut).Any suggestions?Nice greeting from Vienna/AustriaGuenther

Hi all,I have a question about keeping the older version of Active Sky on my hard drive. I am running Version 6 and I love it. I was browsing my add/remove programs in the control panel and I noticed that there were many older version of the program floating around. They are as follows: (I'm not listing version 6 entries)1) Active sky WXRE 1.91 Full Version2) Active sky 2004 special install for wxre users.3) Active sky 2004.5 update4) ASV service updateI remember in the past that you needed to have some of these versions on your hard drive to verify upgrade licenses, but I'm not sure is that is still valid or not. Thanks,Kevin

I thought that FS9 would give us really fluffy clouds that have true thickness. I don't know if it's my hardware limitations, but I still see wafer thin clouds, when in spot view looking sideways.I used to have FSW clouds before installing AS6. FSW clouds looked a lot better than the default ones, but again, sometimes clouds were like a series of thin parallel curtains than a thick soup they're meant to be.With AS6 I still have thin clouds. It's especially annoying with srtatus clouds.I'm not pointing the finger at AS6. Maybe it's an FS9 issue, or a graphics card capability. Is anyone getting tue volumetric clouds that have real substance?Eytan Ornstein

Hello,Is it just me or are others having problems when loading a route than involves Honolulu (PHNL)? AS either displays weather for a nearby airport or I get an error during the waypoint processing then no Wx update at PHNL. I've had a problem with this airport every single time since I upgraded my build.I'm using Build 470 by the way. Thanks very much,Paulhttp://www.strontiumdog.plus.com/paul_sst.jpgConcorde Training Captainwww.BAVirtual.co.uk

This is mostly a problem at night, when visual clues at to the process of updating weather to FS 9 on startup are few.Any ideas on how to handle this? Instructions say to leave things along until the update is complete to avoid problems, or incomplete updates.ThanksGreg

I know this might sound like a silly question, but I'm wondering what difference there is between importing a route from an FS9 flight plan and just leaving AS open.It appears that AS adjusts the weather to where I'm flying either way, so what's the point of importing a route?Just wondering JEff
