Just want to confirm, in order to get AS in VATSIM w/sqwuakbox3 is simply to import it, and process it, then hide and start FS9, start sqauwkbox module...however, the weather environment for me may not be the same as other multiplayers unless they are flying the same route of flight and have ASv6.Thanks in advance.KemoF15

I presently have AS 2004.5. Do I need to uninstall it before purchasing and installing the current version 6?

My problem is that I want to purchase Active Sky but PAYPAL is the only method of payment. I understand that you do not need to be a member of PAYPAL but the problem is that PAYPAL only accept payment from specific countries. If your country is not listed, too bad! You can't pay for the software.Is there any other way that I can pay for Active Sky????

Hi before asking, I did some research and found alot of posts on this BUT some posts suggested to leave OFF and others to leave on fog generation, what is the deciding factor for this one?As far as fs9 haze I honestly don't like it on because it causes ME unrealistic effects many of which most of you know!

Damian, Jim, et al,How difficult would it be, to add an option to dump the contents of the navlog to an html or text file ? Something that could be accessed from the sim via the kneeboard, or FSBrowser even ?Print to File works, but not so well, for this. I'm thinking html would be a really great way to format the output also. As of now I do the copy/paste thing to access the navlog in the sim, which is fine of course, but, never hurts to ask.Probably too late for now, but maybe in the future ?

HI TEAMI just took off from EDDF and was not happy about two things, one I have disabled an option called extend thunderstorm meaning I should not have rain outside the cloud, BUT instead with no clouds above me rain was coming down hard, I did takeoff in thunderstorm wx but still had rain outside the cloud, also not sure if it looked right but the sky was not overcast as far as clouds go but the rain was all over the vicinity?2nd issue I remember a few sims back with default weather that when going through a cloud my controls would go crazy turbulence hit hard and the speed gauge would show increase and decrease of airspeed, NOW I got smooth transition through the thunde…

Hi all, I fly the 767 by Level-D almost exclusively, and when hitting my transition level of 18,000ft and descending, by procedure I reset the alimeter (using the "b" key) to my destinations airport reading.My question is, in the sim I notice that the altimeter can change multiple times - high and low - of the reported A30.12 (for instance) while coming down through my arrival. Does this usually happen in real life? Using the "b" key to autoset the altimeter may not be prudent? Sould I set it manually, then not have to worry about the fluctuations? The thing is this. There is a laptop I have from work. Until now I used AS and all other FS related programs locally on my desktop at home. Now I want to move them to the laptop and use them via Widefs to save as much system resources ont he main PC for FS.But the Laptop sometimes has to stay at work, when I use it as part of a test setup, so I won't always have it when flying.So my question is this. Can I make an istallation in a way that when I have the laptop I run AS from the laptop while flying on the desktop, and when I don't have the laptop, AS will run locally?If so, how should I install it?http://online.vatsimindicators.net/825051/142.png

Hello, I currently have ActiveSky Build 485 & ActiveSky Graphics build 180. Q1. Am I up to speed on the updates? Q2. Under the ActiveSky Graphics Menu I have 3D Clouds, Cirrus Clouds, Sky Color and Enviroment all Weather Influenced. Does this mean that everytime the weather is updated in flight to particular area's it will even change the enviroment scheme to best suit the weather forcasted for that area? Or does Weather Influenced only effect the clouds implemented in the simulator? Q3. If the tone of this post sounds frustrated, well, I am! Not angry, just frustrated - and very disappointed...I sat down one hour ago to fly FS9, and I am still stuck trying to load weather in AS! I'm basically far from PC illiterate and I've followed the instructions in the manual a dozen times over but I still get run-time errors trying to fetch reports or whenever I use Wx Finder (AS closes down completely); no weather loading in FS9 after spending forever trying to install METARs or pre-saved/default templates into the programme, "Error During Process..." messages every time I try to load up a flight plan entry (none of my flight plans load!) ...I am sure AS6 is a wond…

Is there somewhere where users upload and download .ast template files then? I cannot locate anything by searching. Or is this sharing just on a private arrangement basis?Martin :-)

If I load a data file at AS6 startup then go to Wx Finder and run an advanced search for weather conditions within that file, when I click the search button, I get an error message:"Run-time error 5. Invalid Procedure Call or Argument"When I click 'OK' AS6 shuts down completely.Is this a problem of my own making somehow?Thanks,Martin

I am having a problem I can't solve ....I frequently get a message that download failed: data will be refreshed at next scheduled download .... I have this set for every 10 minutes, but on long flights I find that after a couple of hours even, still no refresh...am I missing somehting in the setup?nb : this is most common on trans-oceanic flightsRon McKeirnan

Hi, This problem only came up recently, that after flying, and exit the FS, there are many small ASV incons appeard in the system tray, and I also noticed that during flight, whenever there is a weather update, the game gets jerky and paused or should I say stuter for a few seconds, then the game back to normal. and the number of the updates occured in the game associated with the numbers of icons in the system tray. I haven't had AS6 for long, but am finding mastering its settings a bit heavy going. I can basicaslly now set up a flight so that I choose weather at departure and destination, and it works fine, but I can't see from the manual or anywhere else (impending blindness; stupidity?) how to fine control things.How do I set cloud density for instance? I was used to going into FS default screens and setting what I needed but try as I might I can't get AS to load up the cloud density settings (one example) I'd like: mostly it's way too much and my frame rates dip to almost single figures. On a recent flight from UAFM to ELLX I had to do battle with severe turbulence. There was thunderstorms and lightning throughout the flight and severe turbulence at flight levels above 360 of various duration. I climbed to FL400 but the severe turbulence, thunderstorms and lightning did not recede.Was I flying though supercell clouds?Thanks,

I have found NOAA's aviation weather service (http://adds.aviationweather.gov) to be excellent for planning flights within the US. Does anybody know of a comprehensive site for international aviation weather? Most importantly, I'm looking for winds aloft maps of Europe and the North Atlantic.Thanks!Alden

Hello,It seems like it's NOT possible to install the textures sets when FS and ASVE are not installed in the system HD (C:)... My OS is on C: and FS is on G:The texture sets installers stop and says that ASV must be installed first... but ASV is installed ans working properly in G:Any other way to install them ??

Hi all,Having been a longtime user of ActiveSky 4.5, I decided this evening to purchase, download and install ASv6. However, after installation, the ActiveSky Graphics will not load...either from the icon within the ActiveSky program itself, nor from the desktop (the ASv6 program appears to be functioning OK). When I attempt to load from the desktop I get the following message: "The application failed to initialize properly....".I have uninstalled AS 4.5 and also uninstalled/reinstalled ASv6, but it hasn't made any difference.
