While using ASv6 in FS9, I flew to denver (KDEN) just to see if area had snow as been reported in the news. There was no indication of snow anywhere in the area.What could have possibly been wrong?Wilbert

Hi,for a flightplanning project I am looking for formulas to calculate wind components, but I searched within this and other forums but no success.I found several by searching the internet but all seem to be not correct.To start with wind correction angle WCA > I found WW * WS / TAS whereby WW is the angle between MAG TRACK and WIND DIRECTION and WS is the WIND SPEED - I checked this formula with the results of a AS nav log but they differ a lot - an example :between 61N20W and 62N30W MC is 305 wind was 252/127 and the WCA was - 9 with my calculation I came out with - 14 !!Same with the wind component : my formula I found in the net calls forWS * COS ((( WD - 180 ) -…

I am having a weird problem with AS6. When I start the program and FS2004 is NOT running, it completes loading no problem. But when I start AS6 after FS2004 IS already running, AS6 gets to when the message "Decrypting and writing WX data to disc..." appears and then just sits there. AS6 then stops responding - in fact this is what shows in the title bar - and all I can do, is to kill it. None of the buttons work.I first noticed this with build 499 but it also occurs with build 533 which I just installed. Hi all. I'm using FS9 with ASv6, build 523 and it seems to me that since the tie-in with GEProII that I also have, on-line weather updates cause a great deal more stuttering than before. When I first got ASv6, my first ever AS version, I was impressed by how unobtrusive the updates were. But not now! I always disable my AV auto scan but I'm wondering what options are best set to minimise this. The stuttering can go on for 30 seconds or so, accompanied by a lot of HD activity.I defrag every 2 or 3 weeks but there is no discernible difference immediately after a defrag. This happens whether I involve GEPro or not.The FS9 on-line weather update is nowhere near as noticeable.…

What is the earliest FSUIPC version that you can run ASv6.5 (build 533) with? Forgive me if this is answered elsewhere, point me to a thread if there is already an answer posted. I am using ASv6.5 with FSX, build 536 through WideFS. When AS updates, it causes flickering at the top of my FSX screen and also causes frame rate jittering or fluctuation. I have the disable throttling boxes unchecked. There are two versions of FSUIPC (4.06 for FSX and 3.71 for FSIX). I switch between FSX and FSIX and use ASv6.5 for both. However, when I use ASv6.5 in conjunction with Squawkbox 3.1 in FSIX, I will get a CTD with no error boxes. I can run Squawkbox by itself in FSIX without ASv6.5 just fine. I can also run ASv6.5 in FSIX without SB3.1 without any problems. Before I loaded Asv6.5 I never had a problem running SB3.1 and AS together in FSIX.I have latest drivers and leading edge system--memtest is fine and I have no firewall/antivirus issues (as I said no problems before). I uninstalled/reinstalled SB3.1 and FSUIPC...still get CTD in FSIX only with SB3.1 and ASv6.5 runni…

Hello.Hopefully one of you will answer this for me.After looking online about converters for UTC time I think I'm still a little confused about downloading archived weather.Let's say I want to download weather for a particular day at 1:00PM PST. What would I enter for UTC time and how do you figure it out?Thanks!

AS^ was working fine for weeks with no issues. Then all of a sudden when I start AS^, the following msg keeps popping up. "Error during FS stationdatabase check step3. Hey my name is Steve and I got this error message after installing AS6. "FS Path C:Program FilesMicrosoft GamesFlight Simulator 9 not currently available - unable to check wx station list. Please enable the FS9 Machine/Path then restart AS to ensure proper operation..." I don't know what this means. I am only running this on one computer so I'm not using Wide FS. Any ideas?

Yesterday I flew out of EGKK. AS6 METAR indicated freezing fog, 1/8 SM visibility. Actually, I could see more than 1/8 miles ahead, but that's probably an FS9 limitation.Anyhow, I took off. It took me a climb to FL 100 to clear the fog. Now that's not realistic. There's currently a deep high pressure system over the UK. With clear skies, no wind and cold air, radiation fog has formed. Now this fog is normally no more than a thousand or two feet thick. I know this because I was a meteorologist in the army. A ten thousand feet thick fog is not possible, unless, there's another deep cloud layer just above the fog. But this is not the case since there are no convective or fr…

Hi,Recently I have been having a problem with ASv6.5 since, I am fairly sure, upgrading to build 533.After initiating AS (in online mode) I submit the relevent textures to FS9 via GEPro, then I start FS9. When the fs is up and running, I observe that the weather, as displayed by AS, at the same location, has not been "read" by fs. In order to correct the situation I have to restart AS and then all is well and fs sim then displays the correct weather and continues to do so as AS updates periodically. I have tried a "refresh" but this does not effect a cure, the only apparent way to get FS to display the correct weather at startup is to restart AS. This is inconvenient …

HiThis has never occurred before!PMDG B1900D out of KSEA with on-line weather. 20 minutes into the flight FS9 drops out - no errors messages. The screen goes back to desktop.It happens every flight.Seems to ocur when AS gets a weather update.Perhaps it has something to do with the firewall?Any ideas. Thanks....IAIN

How can I stop the useless update of hundreds or even thousands of small and even smaller airports - i.e. K5XX etc - during the online mode. Today I wanted an update of KIAD wx, but was unable since the update of small and for me useless airports was blocking ASV6 for at least 15 mins.Thanks for help

FSX. AS6.5 . Yesterday I was flying over London Heathrow at 2000ft. There were quite a few clouds, cumulus. They were also present when on the runway. AS loaded without any problems. The 'Weather Station' was London Heathrow (EGLL). AS information said no clouds, clear skies, which in fact was correct for London Heathrow. The same applied to London Stansted, using EGSS as the 'Weather Station'. Must I expect some clouds even if it should be clear? Many thanks.Delta.

Hi,Not sure if this has been posted before but when I install ActiveSky 6.5 into g:/ActiveSky, point to FSX folder when told the FSX folder could not be found, and point to the document/settings Apps Directory, I load up FSX and this loads up fine except that it tells me that FS is not loaded..... which is correct as I havn't started FSX.When I double click on the icon to start FSX, I get an hourglass and then a message saying that there was a problem with FSX and I need to run a reinstall to fix the problem.What I have had to do is uninstall ActiveSky 6.5, run a registry cleaner and then reboot the pc to get FSX working fine. Hi,Is there any possibility to force snow precipitation when temperatures are below 0 degrees c? If the metar reports VCSH (showers in vicinity) AS automatically process this as rain showers even if the temperature is well below zero. It would be nice to have an option to force snow when temps are below zero and precipitation is present. BrgdsKevin

I have AS installed in FS9 modules folder, and now updated to V6.5.- I works OK in FS9, but FSX hangs.-Should I reinstall it in a new location ?, I read it was no necesary.-

I upgraded to AS65 and now cannot make the default FS9 real weather work, when trying to download new weather from the options box, the game hangs.- With AS it works OK, and connects without problems.-

FSX. A/S (V6.5). I am using Full Screen when flying, not Windows Screen. Can I use a keyboard key to bring-up A/S? At the moment I have to go into Windows Screen and use the A/S icon. Many thanks.Delta.
