I think I read in one of the postings that the 'suppression ceiling' should be set relatively high and the suppression distance should also be close to 200 miles. Am I correct in this? I seem to remember that the ceiling should be like at 20,000 and distance less than 100. Which works best?

I was just flying around kffz. Hit full clould cover 1/4 vis at kchd. Ain't a cloud in sight in Phoenix today.Checked the AS6 metar which said visibility 400M. Compared to actual metar, which stated visibility 40SM.Any ideas?

Sorry this question really doesn't belong here but I couldn't get registered on the Flight1 forums.As so many others have remarked ASV6.5 and GE Pro II are outstanding together..very happy with my purchase.Last night I ran GEP to create 3 sets of ground textures for each of the 5 sky conditions. Let's say that I wanted to create 2 sets more for each sky condition. Do I then enter 5 in the menu for each sky condition and it creates 2 more or will it create all 5 again?If someone could tell me how that works I would be very grateful.Thanks!!Jeb

Hi All,I'm running ASV 6.5 via WideFS and plan to buy GE Pro II this weekend.I've read the integration of ASV with GE Pro II document and would just like to confirm that both programs can (and should) reside on the client machine. It just isn't intuitive to me that the textures can load from the client.If someone will please tell me that it either works that way or doesn't, I will appreciate it.Jeb

Hi,I have purchased and installed the latest version of AS.My problem is that AS doesn't seem to "override" the FS2004 weather settings. For example: I select a certain theme in AS Graphics and send it to FS. When I startup FS2004 and simply choose "create a flight" and leave the weather settings within FS2004 untouched, the weather settings will be the ones from FS2004 (meaning, if the weather in FS2004 was set to "Clear" in FS2004, the sky will be clear and if I select "Overcast", well, it will be overcast), BUT the graphics of the clouds is apparently coming from AS, since they look much better than the original ones.What am I suppose to select within FS2004 to have th…

Just curious how airlines can figure a schedule for a particular flight as the aloft winds change sometimes drastically. In my flight planning I usually go to a specific airline and use their schedule and this helps a lot, but how do they do it?I use FSNavigator and when flying westbound, I just add an extra 30 min or hour depending on the distance flown and just load extra fuel. Is there a more exact science?

I was looking through postings regarding the speed of Winds Aloft but I didn't find anything that touched on the limitation of the aloft wind speeds. As with surface winds, can I also limit the speed of the aloft winds or do I just have to disable it? On my flight today from PANC-RCTP, I was 40 min late and the winds were consistently over 100 mph against me! FS only recognizes up to 99 when you do the ctrl+Z function.thanks

Good day, folks.I'm reinstalling FS9 due to a system failure. I've got a bunch of add-ons including AS. Here's my situation: where's the full product to download? All I see are upgrades. I had AS5 (or V), upgraded to AS6, then had a patch (AS6-patched), then updated once again to the latest of AS6 with the Ground Environment addition. Do I now have to go through all that again (1 install + 3 upgrades equal to 4 full installs)?!? Eeep.Where's the all-in-one download for current owners who have been upgrading since pre-6? If it is one of those two downloads, it woefully lost in my head as to which to download as one is called and 'update' and the other an 'upgrade'! …

Hello.In ASVE v5 there used to be some alternate textures to download that either increased or decreased quality from the default install. I don't see those available anymore. Is there still such an option for ASV 6.5?Thanks!

Morning Guys,I just thought I'd report a ####-poor weather station in FL. Here's the scenario:Take off from 28J (Larkin airport) and fly up the river toward KNIP (Jacksonville NAS) about parallel with FL60 (Reynolds Airpark) the KNIP weather station drops what should be CAVOK to 6SM which couldn't be more wrong (especially when my dad live several miles from KNIP). If I remove the station from wx_station_list.txt and reload AS6.5 b 533 and FS9 the weather is pulled from KCRG and KSGJ which reports the correct visability hence I don't fly from CAVOK into a wall of 6SM of Visability.I plan on leaving this station out unless you say that there is a better solution.Pete(P.S…

Hi Fellow Simmers:I posted several weeks ago re: instrument panel disappearing.I have since updated my drivers to the latest Nvidia drivers thinking this was the problem.It has not changed the panel from disappearing in the planes either default or payware.I presently have a due core GF 7950 card.When I start FSX with no weather panel's are visible. When I load active sky the panel disappears and if I keep changing views from spot to main panel it will sometimes re-appear but not all the time.It does not make any difference re: visibility being less then 10 miles because the weather today is clear with few clouds.Due to this problem I am unable to fly FSX.I did take the…

I know that this topic has already been submitted but I cannot find it.Before the last version of Active Sky, the radar did not show the rain. After installing the last version (for FS9) it first appeared then got lost again after several days of usage.I use FS9 on the main PC and active sky in the client WideFS. Hi All,My old Radeon 9800 pro 128mb card finally died, so I purchased the NVidia Geforce 7800GS 256MB card (latest drivers).I like the card overall (I pretty much maxed everything with no reall problems), but I am having a problem with my clouds shimmering (not sure if it is video card or asv,or fs2004 related). The weather is first cleared, then set by ASV 6.5 , at this point the clouds look very beautiful and not shimmering what so ever, then the visibility must be set to 15sm by ASV 6.5 , so I then watch the visibility set in from the ground up into the clouds, the visibility blocks out my once solid looking clouds with no shimmering what so ever to the unbelievable s…

I am keep receiving an error messages as follows:"Error acessing internal components (Unecrypt step1-Please run the "Repair" option via ASV6 setup.exe to replace required files).May be 10 times I runed the "repair" No change. Hello.I currently own ASVE v5 and I was hoping someone could tell me what the upgrade path is to the latest version.I saw something on the website that sounded like there was no cost. Is this correct? All I have to do is download the latest version and install?This wouldn't be a direct upgrade as I am building a new machine and the new version of ActiveSky would be a fresh install on that machine.If anyone can tell me the necessary steps involved I would appreciate it.Thanks!

Greetings, I just have a quick question about weather stations that are created by activesky for oceanic or low coverage areas, the stations that are set as $XXX etc at the end of each weather update, often in coastal areas.Is there any way to disable generation of those stations? The reason I ask is that I would like to use activesky to set the weather for my online ATC sessions, but I've noticed that if I do so on coastal areas, other players are not able to join my server. I suppose it's because their copies of FSX can't reconcile those activesky generated weather stations with their standard station lists.I am able to get it to work if I work ATC in a populated area, …

Hi,When using ActiveSky 6.5 to update weather in FSX, only things like pressure, wind and visibility are updated.
