I'm considering purchasing AS6.5 for FSX. Might some kind soul answer a few questions for me pretty please? I once purchased ActiveSky 3.xxx (I believe it was) for 30 dollars. Literally 3 weeks later, the new and improved AS 4.0 debuted with improved weather rendering technologies at a discount price of 25 dollars for current users. My version was very soon very obsolete.1) Can we expect a version 7 soon? Is 6.5 just an interim fix? I'd like to hold of purchasing if the newest version 7 is in beta.2) AS, like any other weather software used to encounter problems when loading new weather data into FS. Does AS now solve the problem of the "clear weather flash" when lo…

Hi,just wanted to clear up an issue I have before I attempt to install the AS6.5 upgrade...I am still running FS9, and will be for some time for reasons not worth mentioning here.1. I read over at Pete Dowson's forum that FSUIPC4 is not compatible with FS9, since it incorporats with Simconnect in FSX and cannot interface with FS9 like FSUIPC3.7 does...2. Do I understand correctly that AS6.5 requires FSUIPC4? If so, it cannot work on FS9... Then I do not understand how some in the forum here state that they have installed AS6.5 with FS9...Have I missed something, or is AS6.5 fully functional with FSUIPC3.7?CheersAndrewEDIT: Changed title to avoid misleading other forums us…

Hi,I installed ActiveSky 6.5 update and it installed into FS9. I am running FSX. After the install I went into the directory of ActiveSky and tried to execute the 6.0 exe. I get a message 'class not regitered' msstdfmt.dll not installed. Msstdfmt is instlled and without any problems with it. The program closes after I reply 'OK' to that message. I have FSUIPC 4 installed and I am running WindowsXP Pro on a 3gig dual core machine. Need help.Gary

Just completed a two-hour FSX flight from KPHL to KPBI in the default Lear 45, using AS 6.5 I have the registered version of FSUIPC 4.01 and Wide Server 7.Before beginning the flight I loaded the FSX flightplan into Active Sky and processed it.Winds were right on the money at my departure and destination airports, but way off direction-wise in cruise at FL 380. In general, the wind SPEED was always quite close to what was currently showing in Active Sky, but the DIRECTION was rarely even close to correct, varying anywhere from 90 to 180 degrees from A.S.I realize that this may well be a FSUIPC problem, as I know that Peter has not yet inplemented wind smoothing in FSUIPC …

I just bought and downloaded and installed Active Sky from SimMarket at the top on the opening screen it says ASv6 is this the correct version or need to upgrade immedialty to 6.5. I will use it on Fsim2004 until FSX issues are more clear.

I installed FSX on a new PC along with AS. FS9 is not installed on this computer. I installed the full AS version 5 and upgraded to 6 and then 6.5. I seem to be having the same issues with FSX not apply the weather. However I am also receiving a "main thread process error..." when trying to use offline play back. AS will online update but it will not refresh FSX. I mainly use the offline playback feature which is fantastic.Any help would be appreciated,Kevin

Hello People from the AVSIM community !I am just debating with myself if i shall buy this product.Let me explain what bothers me the most in FS 2004 and now at FS X.Its the weather transition in the "real weather mode - updated every 15 minutes ". As for example sometimes i have overcast weather with rain somewhere at the airport - i take off and shortly after Dept. the weather changes immediatly and you get nice skies with only scatted clouds. This is so unrealistic. Same as landing somewhere vice-versa. Nice weather and immediately overcast with no visibility. Is Activesky getting rid of the problem ?2) Is active sky giving you the whole wheather siutation wehn you fly…

Well I got home and decided to start up ASV and tinker with my settings before flying. OH NO - received the error message "Initialization Error reading files...Please verify your files or re-install" right at about 75% loaded. Drats. Read the forum, not alone - did I have to do a re-install?NO - just had to turn on my primary computer, as I run ASV and browse the net off my FS9 client. Started up the primary and all was well. Didn't need FS9 or WideFS running, just needed the other PC on the network.Just in case anyone else has that problem its something to check.Joe Lorenc

Hi,I've done a clean install of FSX on a new computer. I downloaded the 6.5 update. I tried to use the AS 6 setup program, but it cannot find several FS9 related folders. I aborted the setup program at this point. Is it possible to use the old setup program to install in FSX? If not - how do I obtain a complete 6.5 setup program? I purchased AS on SimMarket in may.regardsUlf B :-)

Oops wrong forum. Please delete topic. Does anyone have any tips for locating water runways in the select airport menu? It seems they really should have included a filter checkbox or something to help locate the available water runways. Phil

Hi HiFi team,I have the AS6.5 full installer. I went ahead and installed, everything installed smoothly. When I tried to run AS Graphics, I am unable to as it asks for my FS9 directory, so naturally I pointed it to my FSX directory, at that point I get a message saying that "AS6.5 is not compatible with FSX, please select your FS9 directory or hit cancel to exit AS."Thanks in advance,Jeff

Hi all,I have been using ASV6 via WideFS for years and everything's alright. However, during FSX installation, I need to reinstall winXP and after that, I got the error 'usernameflight simulator 9network location not found or is not accessible'. However, I have checked everything : In host computer, firewall off, FS9 folder shared, flight simulator files folder shared, application data folder shared. In client PC, ASV6 folder shared. I checked 'My network places' in both PC and all the necessary folders are there. However, when I double click FS9 folder in 'My Network Places' in client PC, the same error 'Access is denied' appeared. Other than FS9 folder, I can access all…

Could someone offer me some advice please? I have ASV6 Build 523 running on a laptop networked to my PC on which is FS9 with a registered copy of FSUIPC installed . I also have WideFS and Active Radar on the laptop. I have just rebuilt the PC and FS9 runs perfectly. When running Active Sky from the laptom I get the following errors in this order:1. "Your FS folder was not located on this machine. Please browse to it on the next screen".(I do this by browsing to and selecting the main FS9 folder on the main PC through the network connection).2. "Your FS folder is set to MAINPCFS9. Now save your options to apply this new location to your settings".(How do I do this?)…

Try the XTreme-G 92.91Download here: http://www.tweaksrus.com/index.php?option=...ed&ascdesc=DESCIt's the latest XTreme-driver for Nvidia-cards, tweaked for best performance and quality. My result: Better performance, real sharp images and textures, and the clouds looks even better, the driver is smooth and got great stability. Cloud draw distance to max now and 80 miles sight distance, to get a realistic overcast enviroment when there is one, and FS9 still runs very smooth with FPS around 30.Remember, to get the best out of ASv6 you also need a good videocard and driver :)

and it is great! But I do have one question. I'm running AS on a client machine and it wants me to point it toward Documents and Settings/User Name/ApplicationData. on the server machine. I can find Documents and Settings but I can't find the application data file it wants. Says that it may have errors writing extended weather because of the path error.Would appreciate any help you all can give me with this..it seems it should be a simple matter to find the path but I'm stumped.ThanksJeb
