Since FSUIPC4 was made available I started using ASV6.5 with FSX, but I am almost tempted to give away until the ACEs come out with some patch to make Simconnect work properly because I never really have had the chance to inject realistic weather into FSX, at least at LPPT.Many strange things happen, but I will describe it further down...When I pointed ASv6.5 to the FSX root directory I got that message:"ASv6 will be able to update your FSX station database" and gave it a "Yes". Hi,I'm running Windows Vista Business RTM, and trying to run ASv6.5 with FSX. After AS downloads the weather, it pops up a dialog box with the following:Error accessing internal components (Unencrypt step 4 - . Please run the 'Repair' option via the ASv6 setup.exe to replace required files.I have tried the 'Repair' option to no avail.Is the some permissions issue with Vista's security?It seems to work well enough if I just hit "OK" on the box, but task switching to do that every 15 minutes becomes rather annoying, and is likely to lead to some instability I fear.Any suggestions?-stefan

Hi,I have followed and executed all the directions in the detailed FSwide setup post. ActiveSky installed smoothly on the remote computer as described and no error messages/discrepancies were encountered. When I start FS9 on the WideServer computer and start Wideclient on the remote computer both applications indicate connected. When I start ActiveSky (V6.5 Build 533) on the remote computer it continually displays "FS Disconnected" and no weather is uploaded into FS9. Any help on this would be greatly appreciated!

HiI was using as6.5 for a while with no problems-until few weeks back when I had to reinstall everything.After setting up everything again I am having problems with setting up cloud layers-before I used to get clouds at various altitudes-and therewere many of them.Now I only get clouds at an altitude of 3000ish and nothing above -could somebody please remind me what I need to do to get good layersof clouds at different attitudes.Also I had managed to get rid of the low level haz layer-I need help with that to.Qas

I haven't had a great many problems with using AS6.5 in FSX as I'm mostly a fair weather flyer. However, this morning I wanted to take a flight using real-world conditions that were overcast and raining.I know there is an issue with AS6.5 dropping framerates in FSX while weather is loading, but once loaded, periodically I was getting stuttering and flashing of cloud textures for no reason. With Gen-X VFR photoscenery and using TrackIR, I normally get 35-40fps average with normal weather and it drops to around a consistent 22-32fps with overcast conditions. But these stutters and flashes are sporadically reducing the ability to fly to sub-15fps.Any suggestions that you can…

Hello, I don't know if it may have something to do with the servers this evening. At around the past 3 hrs from 1900-2210 CST. I have even shutdown flight sim the works and re-loaded. This has never happened to me before but my weather radar which I do enjoy alot while I am flying. I like to look at the text on the square radar that say's Nearest Station Data KSEA 10nm ceiling 5000ft weather etc. It is giving me in red no data. I kick on 122.00 and get the METAR Rpt for the area which seems accurate and my destination verbal. But nothing on the Weather Radar as far as text. Any idea's or solutions? Tha…

After reading JSKorna post setting up ASv6 with Widefs I'm having an issue tring to get the server to map z: drive so far the client pc had no problems just the server pc. I don't know what I need to post here so somebody can help so let me know and I'll post what I can.Dave

Please can I get pro/con details to processing & loading a complete flight plan into AS6 -as opposed to- simply manually entering DEP & DEST /ALTN/SPD/ALT?I am looking for any affects these two methods may have on 1. destination weather and 2. accuracy/currency of in flight weather at altitude.If this is an RTFM question, I apologize in advance.ThanksRob.

Is there a program (like an ACARS program/gauge) that will report the weather that is at the current destination.Alot of these types of program only report METARS from the internet. With suppression ranges and different updating times and what not, it is possible that the reported METAR or a station on a website may be quite different to the data that Active Sky is using.So what I need is a program that either interrogates Active Sky for station weather reports or scans the weather settings inside FS itself.I use Radar Contact, and can get destination weather through that, but I have to be close to the destination airport.Any help would be appreciated.

When I enter EGGW (London Luton) into the bottom part of the main AS6 screen to fetch it's report, it brings up EGSS (london Stansted).A similar thing happens with EGKK (London Gatwick). AS6 brings up weather for EGKB (Biggin Hill).Any ideas??

Hi Rob,Here are my comments and suggestions:1. Gusts are working correctly as you saw in your latest flight. Don't use WeatherSet to judge this. The Turbulence column is a scale, not actual shifts and it is not constantly reading data. Use the Shift/Z display in FS04. Large shifts are NOT going to happen because of the wind smoothing properties of AS and FSUIPC. Remember that turbulence and wind shifts are the same thing in FS. About 5 MPH are about the most you are going to see, due to smoothing.2. With this in mind I would suggest that you experiment with a fresh FS9.cfg file and see if your experiences improve.3. For some reason, everytime I fly in or out of PHNL, the ATIS gives me a temp of 15C and an altimeter of 2992. This is confirmed by my guages as well. When I check AS6 though, it shows the correct information. Hello.I was wondering if you could tell me what exactly is happening when the attached dialog appears.Last night I finally gave up waiting for it to disappear after connecting to a new provider for dialup access (yes, dialup access) and just went to fly. Once the flight was over I checked and it was gone. But, I waited for about 15 minutes before giving up. The longest it has taken in the past (with dialup) is about 90 seconds.I know something changed regarding this starting with v6.5 because before that it never needed to be online at that stage. Was getting some error messages after an Active Sky update.("Can't find this file/that file".) All kinds of stuff.Did an uninstall/reinstall of Active Sky (build 470) from CD.Now I have no Active Radar with Ctrl + F12 key or elsewhere.No, I don't have Wide FS. Hi all,I was tootling about the Caribbean when I had to go around from an ILS to Trinidad (TTPP) due lack of visual. I was shocked, the ATIS was giving 7000m in light RN. hi, please help.I have completed a search on this matter and could not find previous posts. I did buy AS5, have the receipt to prove it.With AS6 flight plan processed, wind smoothing via FSUIPC, etc.etc..I am not new...but this problem is.Problem text: On approach expecting gusty winds, I get a gust of maybe 2 or 3 knots above the base wind speed. The METAR calls for much more than that, for example yesterday at CYYT was 26 gust 50 kts...I got gusts up to maybe 28 kts.
