Hi Jim and allI have just purchased the latest version of VoxATC for FSX (v5.33) and immediately noticed that the ATIS reported by VoxATC didn't match that visually given by FSX (which I've switched off now along with the FSX ATC voice). It got me thinking...Does anyone know if there are any issues between VoxATC and ASv6.5 that I should be aware of before I really start using both in combination?Thanks,Vox

Hi guys,I just added a 2nd HD for FS, and I uninstalled every app off my C and then reinstalled to my new "J" drive. For somereason, I cant install ASV to my J drive because I cant change the install directory to the new FS Directory. Am I over looking something? Because it keeps making the MS Games/FS9/ etc etc etc, all over again.

Whenever As generates two cloud layers in fs9, I sometimes detect a confusing transparency issue. Let's say there's a cumulus layer below and a stratus above,(actual heights are unimportant). Whwn flying below, the stratus can appear to be behind the cumulus, as the latter is in the foreground and closer, but sometimes, the cumulus is very transparent making the stratus appear to be below the cumulus.Same thing from above; sometimes the stratus hides the cumulus, other times it's the reverse.I'm not sure what cloud layer takes precedence, visually speaking.Is there an issue here? or am I seeing ghosts?!Eytan Ornstein

Hello, I remember quite some time ago I downloaded a program off of the ActiveSky website that displayed a type of kneeboard but not through the FS9 Kneeboard. It was it's own type of board that would allow easy access to viewing webpages etc. Was great to load up Adobe Reader before FS9 and when in flight I could bring up my approach plates VIA Airnav.com or MyAirplane.com and view them. I can't find it anymore would you happen to still have that download on the website or know where I could get it. I browsed through AVSIM real quick but seem's most of them boards are through the sims kneeboard. If I could I would love to …

I've never used ASG - never really understood what it's purpose was for.When I load a flight, I load FS9, then load Activesky, let the weather load, then load a route. Job done. But it seems that without using ASG, I don't have access to all the other graphics for weather that I've never seen.Can someone give a quick runthrough as to how you use ASG for a flight? I would like to minimise the amount of option setting as much as possible. And is it also possible to select random weather effects, or do you have to actually choose particular effects?Thanks for any help.

Is there a manual for AV6.5? I want to get more information about the weather boxes on the Main Window.AV6.5 is great, can't imagine how I managed without it.Ken

Jim, Hello I couldn't help to notice the turbulence post a couple of day's ago on here stating changing it to 3 would cause turbulence outside of the clouds. Could I raise it to 2 and still ride comfortable till I hit a thunderstorm or is that just a cloud in general. Thinking about rasing the bar here a bit just requesting knowledge from the man before making a move. Thanks, Josh

I've got Vista 32-bit with FSX and the latest FSUIPCI kept getting "main process thread error" in ASV6.5 (SU1), so I uninstalled from both fsx and fs9, and made sure that all (obvious) registry keys were deleted.I reinstalled to fsxrootmodules with no obvious problemsNow that I have re-installed, I cannot save options. Just recently, I've found that when I load up Activesky, then load up ASGS, that all goes grand, but then when I load a flightplan and click process, the whole thing just freezes once it starts to calculate nearest wx stations. If I keep it loaded, it'll come back after a minute or so but it takes a good 5mins to process a flightplan of maybe 6 or 7 waypoints. This is very strange because I've never had this problem before, and I've been using Activesky since it was first released! I've got the latest build for AS, I've restarted several times to see if it would fix the problem and no luck, any ideas?Regards,Jim

I've only just purchased AS6 so this might be rookie mistake but basically what I see out of the cockpit windows doesn't agree with what the METAR/Wx informations is telling me.E.g. If I select clear skies (online updates disabled) "Wx Configurator/Clear Skies/Apply to ALL locations" Then select "Apply Now" and the "Update and Close" and the "Refresh" from the main screen. All the Wx/METAR information tells me the skies should be clear blue - but I can see clouds aplenty, some quite thick.How could I solve this problem?

Can Active Sky (AS) and Flight Environment (FE) be used together? I have FE but will be getting AS soon, just wanted to see if I can use both or have to remove FE?

Hi, I have always used Flight Enviroment. Well I have just started really digging into the ASG & GEPro stuff and I really like it. I did read in the doc's about how ASG works off of pressure etc to try to depict the closest to the real deal. Well here is my question for that and the realest of the dealest I can get ASV & ASG and GEPro to depict the weather & textures sky etc. On ASV Under Options I have Full Sky Theme & Cirrus Theme both weather influenced & enable ASG Auto submit checked. I started a post on the FS9 forum about performance loss in my FS system over the last few weeks... down to around 10 fps and then at times down to slide show level. It was suggested one thing was to use filemon. Running FS9 by itself filemon showed no errors in opening files or no missing files. However, when AS6 (build 533) is running then filemon reports that ASG is continously trying these two items: SUCCESS Options OpenDir access 0010001 No SUCCESS FilebothDirectInfo: trigger.dat Filemon shows ASG is doing these continuously unless FS needs something. I have a problem with AS creating a nav log/flt pln from PHNL - every time I try to create a nav-log FROM PHNL a window pops up with " Error during process " and the nav-log page is empty ! I tried PHNL-KJFK, PHNL-EDDM and PHNL-EDDT with same results.The other way around - EDDM-PHNL: it produces the correct nav-log.Any explanation ?

Since switching over to FSX and reading these terrific reviews regarding Active Sky 6 I was eager to make a purchase and install it. After browsing through the forum I now realize that many of the features are disabled, particularly Activesky Graphics.So the question I am wrestling with is, is it worth getting the software to run on FSX or wait for the revised versions that will come later? Are the Activesky features that do work in FSX worth the price?Thanks for the opinions.

I would like to try soaring in FSX. I don't think the vertical air movement option in Active Sky 6.5 works in FSX, is that correct? Can you still creates thermals in FSX with Active Sky? I've tried getting FSX to create thermals but they are too few and far inbetween. In real life on a convective day thermals are numerious and in all directions. Can this be created in FSX? Can you create ridge soaring conditions with Active Sky? If so how?Thanks

Hi,[With ASv6.5 and FS9]Starting a flight at PHNL:PHNL 101253Z 05009KT 10SM FEW038 BKN070 23/17 A3009 RMK AO2 SLP189 T02330172The clouds appear, but the winds, pressure and temp remain ICAO standard (29.92, 15C and calm). It doesn't matter how many times I push refresh or reset AI, it never changes. I have had this problem erractically in different locations around the world, but not constantly. I have a registered version of FSUIPC, and am using wind smoothing. Thanks...- daniel

Hi allCan anyone help, I have just upgraded XP to Vista Ultimate and have a 4 monitor setup, with 2 Nvidia 7800 GTX cards on a ASUS SLI board, have a 3gb cpu and 4gb of memory.I run FS9 and FSX (not togther ) on 3 of the monitors giving a front and 2 x 45* views, the textures are fine with excellent ground detail on the front and right hand side monitor, but the left monitor textures are suffering from the blurries.I have the latest Nvidia drivers installed, and all 4 monitors are the same make. Anyone any ideas on what i am doing wrong, or is it another Vista gremlim?.Thanks Paul

Hello, I am trying to use archived weather, so I download the archive, and AS tells me that hour's file will be default, but the display shows the last hour downloaded, in this case 6 hours ahead as the active weather file. Why is it reading from the wrong file?Also, when downloading archived weather, if I've downloaded the hours, will is automatically move to the next hour's file once an hour is up?

I have always liked Activesky and never fly without it, but last night was really impressive. I flew from JFK to Acapulco MMAA as part of a round the world trip in an A321 "Against the Wind". Apart from never having flown online in the US - for 5 years I have stuck to Europe, Africa and Australia) - this flight was memorable for me for the descent into Acapulco where I had smog! Now ASV6.5 with online updates and vatsim updates has given me all sorts of nasty weather, fog etc from time to time but this time I actually had the yellow sulphur-ish colour you get with smog. I've learned a lot about METAR data since I installed AS6, but perhaps a little knowledge is a dangerous thing! Maybe I'm not as comfortable with this as I thought.I've been trying to make some new Wx templates. For instance, this string for broken clouds:00000KT 9SM BK075 BK120 24/16 A2988In the Wx Configurator I give it a name and description, then save it. I also save it as a Wx data file.
