FPS drop when looking at clouds my FPS drops big time from 40 to 15-20 and this never happened before please help.

I am getting ready to purchase ASX (download) within the next few days. If I read the forum sticky correctly, I will not need to download SP-3. Am I correct?

Didn't do take nearly this long until the past few days. It's not the PC, defrag or anything I'm sure. I am using FEX if that could make a difference, though it didn't previously. JimI have ASX running on a networked computer... had to make sure SimConnect SP1 was installed, not the latest one on the Acceleration disk to make the message go away that SimConnect wasn't properly set up on computer and FSX would not be updated...Anyway, ASX on the networked computer works now, or at least doesn't say it can't connect to FSX, however, the weather on FSX running on the "server" doesn't seem to be changing or consistent with the ASX weather. I keep getting an "ground environment pro was not found..." Error when trying to run GEP from AS. It works the other way GEP to AS6. Any ideas?John

I tried setting up a network. Everything installed fine, but I experienced a huge stutter every 15-20 secs. This was unacceptable so I tried to go back to one computer but ASX won't install properly now:"XEngineSimConnect (SP1 version) was not able to be loaded... this is required for operation with FSX! ... "SimConnect.xml and SimConnect.ini have both been deleted. Actually completely removed FSX SDK as well.Help Please,TM

Hi all,I made an atlantic crossing last night. CYYT to EICK in DA's Fokker 100.I checked the METAR and saw that a nice jetstream was crossing directly on route, straight across the atlantic. This indeed showed up as winds 279@79ish at 35k in the ASX briefing page. Yahooo, this all works just like it should! (sorry I didn't get a snap)Note my surprise then as I reached 35k that I had dead calm, not a breath, all the way over to EICK?I was using real time, so I expected something at least.Can anyone throw some light on this?Here's a snap I took of todays METAR over the same flightplan. Hi there - have attempted a fair bit of searching and came across an FAQ saying that wind smoothing issues have been sorted with AS 2004.5 MR2 B130 and onwards as well as FSUPIC version "something I can't remember!". I believe I have newer than stated versions on the FAQ on your website, but I still seem to get these jerky changes - about once every second when shifting between stations the wind will change significantly, causing any poor autopilot of PMDG/Level-D etc. to go bananas.Is there any workaround to this? It has happened on two separate FS9 installations.Any help would be appreciated,RegardsRudy

When I hit the apply weather button, weather depiction goes green and stays green but weather never changes in FSX. I have waied as long as 15 minutes with no change ever seen.Normal downloaded and updated weather seems to work ok. Only a problem when I try to modify weather via the Wx Config screen. Well on second thought I don't think I have ever verified that weather updates (10 minute interval) are working either. I do know that manual via Wx Config is not working.

Hi,I confess Active Sky X has been installed on my system for quite some time, but has not been used with FSX (SP2) until today. My main sim is still FS9 but gradually, as I have been quietly customizing the sim and working out most of the performance problems, FSX is slowly drawing me away. I have ASX fully updated with SP3 (Build 1160)and currently I'm using the default settings.The program itself seems to be running fine and connects successfully with FSX, but I was somewhat taken aback this evening to find that FSX was running a slideshow between 1.7 and 2fps!I am at a loss to explain this. hi fii have seen this issue ever since the first version of activsky and that is cloud that are further away appearing on front of clouds that are close. usually its those horrible dark streky ones that are far away that show in front of the fluffy cotton wool cumulus is there any way of stopping that horrible effectthankskav

I recently purchased Active Sky X build 1160 and have noticed what seems anomolies. I do not have FSUIPC installed.When METAR reports clear sky conditions I sometimes have sky depictions showing clouds. Sometimes when the depiction initially shows clear, after a few minutes clouds appear.When METAR reports overcast conditions I sometimes have depictions showing broken sky conditions with patches of clear sky.One set of observations, I began in Harbor Springs MI where METAR showed overcast but depictions showed broken. Moved to Flagstaff AZ. METAR showed clear, depiction showed many clouds. Moved to Grand Canyon. METAR clear, depiction clear. Moved back to Flagstaff. METAR…

Hi all,I shelved ASX for several months because at some random point in flight my plane was going into mid-air cartwheels and nothing I could do would stop it short of a full reboot. I recently started to use it again out of curiousity and almost immediately my plane skidded violently across the apron at Gatwick and started pirhouetting crazily. HI allI have the asx-xg bundle installed also flight enviromentI am not recieving any weather in either program just clear skiesI have been using both programs from day 1 with no problems.my internet broadband is running and ok,the only changes i have made are installing the enviroment x update,i uninstalled it and reinstalled without the update,but still no weather in either.anyone got any ideas how to fix it?also i deleted both programs and reinstalled.my thanksDON

I have some old saved weather files that I downloaded in 2005 with ASv6 or perhaps v6.5. They end with "_archive.dat". I tried to use these files with ASX and got a "weather load error" message in the log. I then tried changing the extension from .dat to .wx,, the extension used with ASX. I still got the error.Are these files compatible with ASX, and if so, how do I load them?Thanks, Robert

Is there any way to increase the XGauge refresh rate (say 2x per second?). I'm not sure what the default refresh rate is but it's not realtime and feels far too slow for VFR flying.ThanksIan

This sudden, abrupt change in visibility is still a problem. The link below descibes it well. Today, the abrupt change happens at about 3700 feet.I have the newest version, and have tried every possible setting.
