hi, what do hard core ASA fans out there prefer : a global mode with wind and visibility smoothing enabled or a station based mode without these options enabled??? in my opinion i would prefer the station based mode because global mode has the disadvantage that; the pilot has no clue on which active runway he/she would arrive at the destination airport because of all the continuous wind variations. its sooo confusing and the ATIS reports different runways at different time intervals and it is impossible to plan your approach at the last moment. in station based mode u exactly know the weather at each station so u would know which runway u would be landing at finally, b…

Hi, I have installed the beta update and seems to have fixed the connecting problem as far as closing and opening FSX without closing ASA so that is good. Still have a little cloud popping but looks good. However my wind problem is not fixed. With DWC on, I get winds aloft at any alt above I think 1500MSL. With DWC off, it fails at wind completely. Its really does suck though because I can never get the correct winds unless I take off and land at sealevel airports. Anything above and I get stuck with winds aloft. If its gusting then I get a combo I get the winds aloft direction and the Surface gust speeds. I have tried everything I could and am still getting this wind …

i had an interesting thing happen today while flying with asa. I was using asa and flying into Toronto. I was supposed to have cloudy winter weather but it was just all clear. So I refreshed asa then the weather was correct. I had a preloaded flight plan in asa, force destination checked, etc. it was like the program just stopped working until I pushed the Refresh button.

Okay, well, I had to do an OS re-install on my SERVER pc and as of yesterday, I had ASA and FSX connected properly (ASA on Client PC, FSX on Sever PC). I had a confirmed connection with FSX in the ASA log, and in FSX I was getting the appropriate weather for a long four hour flight. Shut down both PC's when done. Today, I try and setup ASA and FSX for another flight, and no connection. Nothing has changed. I have triple checked all network settings, tried Simconnect SP1 mode...I don't know what the deal is here. Why did it work fine yesterday, but now no luck? Anyone else have this problem? Any ideas?

I am having what I believe to be a problem although it may not be.I have two instances of ASA installed .One on a remote (laptop) computer for FSX and the other on a desktop direct for Fs9.Whenever I launch either of these applications I get a not yet activated notice and I need to re-activate every time.Is this normal behavior for this program?and if not what could be causing this?Thanks for any help that you can give me.

I run ASA networked most of the time, but I do have it installed locally on my FSX machine as well for the times I don't feel like going downstairs to turn on the client machine. Each time I go from running ASA networked to running it locally or visa versa, I have to activate the licence. I'm worred that at some point I won't be able to activate it again.Is there a way to get around this problem or do I not have to worry about running out of activations?

im wondering with all of the features that active advance has do i need to get the ground enviroment to go along with it.im running fs9 and i wondering will the two go well toghether.Thanks...Robert

Hi ASA-Developer,last days I can no more open "View Route Briefing Map" after loading a flightplan. It ends with "ASA must be closed". I've reinstalled ASA (+SP Beta), but it didn't help. The only things, which are changed at my system are, that I have installed the PMDG MD11 and a service-update from Microsoft Windows (KB958687). I don't know, if that is the reason. I noticed also that the ASA-screen drops a little right down of my monitor-screen after opening ASA.For more information I've added the log-files, hope it can help to find the bug.RegardsDietmar

Hi Jim,After I installed ASA Beta and started it to look if all my problems were gone (wind shifts, constant light changing on the clouds (flickering from dark to light as if the sun is appearing and disappearing)) I wanted to step back, closed ASA and wanted to start ASV6 in mid-flight. But ....... no can do. Is there a way to get ASV6 back again or do I have to reboot my machine?Regards,Jeroen

During cruise I'm getting fairly stable winds, however, over the past several weeks occassionally the winds will dramatically decrease or increase causing the aircraft to either overspeed or nearly stall. For example, this morning, I flew from KIAD to KMEM--PMDG MD-11--winds at cruise were averaging 280/98--hefty headwind--approaching HNN VOR and EWO VOR the winds dramatically decreased from 98knots of headwind to 0 then increased as dramatically to around 70knots of headwind.Last night, flying Level D 767 from KSFO to KIAD I experienced the same thing roughly over the same location (this time with tailwind).I've flown with AS6.5 for several years now, and for the except…

Greetings,My FSX winds aloft seem to come-and-go during the course of my flight. It seems as though ASA sometimes disconnects or simply stops sending weather data. I have used AS 6.5 and ASX without issue. However, I seem unable to problem solve this particular issue. The aircrafts I have been using are listed below. I have configures FSX as directed in the ASA manual. I accidentally posted this in the FS9 forum when I meant to post it here because i figured the AS6.5 crew are more well versed in the mechanics of what exactly happens when weather is loaded in to the sim. Please forgive this being posted in two places now.This happened to me once before, some time last year, and frankly I don't recall what, if anything, I did to fix it. Since installing ASA I have an intermittent flickering screen problem. My 2D panel regardless of aircraft flickers on and off for a minute or so..it happens every 15 mins or so and only happens when running ASA. I am running ASA on another computer using WideFS to network to my FS computer. I don't have this problem with AS6 (well it does flicker but only once, not constantly for a few minutes like ASA)ThanksBenFS9

Hello,The problem with ASA not being able to install a snapshot from the report or briefing page is now solved. I went from 7 to 27 different snapshots for ASA to choose from and i haven't seen the error since, maybe this is useable info for the hifi staff?Now the new problem is the fact that on 6 different flights ASA always chooses autosnapshot 7 to install in FSX.I don't think this is statistically possible, is it? Autosnapshot 7 is in the Overcast wx influence category and there are two more snapshots in this category to choose from so why always snapshot 7 ???

I am an avid user of FS9 and recently added ASA upgrade over AS 6.5. I am still trying to figure out why I bothered. It has been nothing but a headache. Today I tried to fly a route in Alaska of PASN St Paul Island to PACD Cold Bay. Great weather...wind..snow etc. After loading ASA...and waiting the enormously long time for it to load I ended up with perfectly blue sky and no weather as to forecast.I finally said "to hell with this"...closed ASA....loaded AS6.5 and ended up (quickly I might add) with a perfect reproduction of the weather as it is "now" happening in Alaska.Someone please tell me what the value of ASA is if in fact you don't end up with the weather as …

What I mean is, is there a way to keep the ground visibility at my departure airport from "going away" as I climb away from the airport. For instance, I just completed a flight from KSEA where the real world weather right now is 1/8 mile vis in fog, 800 foot RVR, 100 vertical vis. This is the worst visibility I've ever flown the sim in, it was awesome and AS6.5 depicted it perfectly:And then all of a sudden, 2 or 3 minutes later, the visibility "pops" and I'm able to see everything on the ground clearly - the fog just disappears:Is there a setting I can change to prevent this from happening? Hey its just me...Sorry...LOlSo..I got my textures all figured out and working thanks to you Jim....BUTI loaded a flight out of Ford Island....Online weather....My textures were loaded(sky set) and they displayed...Beautiful..Sunset..Purple MTs in the background...Lots of clouds.heavy overcast ...I took off and was just doing a test pattern and returning to Ford Island...I reached 800 Ft. and banked left to start my loop....Now I'm three minutes into the flight...All is great....Moments later,still at the same altitude...BOOM...It all goes clear and the sky gets light again..The clouds are still there.But all haze and overcast conditions are just gone.... Hello, I have an upgrade version of ASA (AS6.5). When I install the beta upgrade and run ASA I get a message box that says "Registration key needs to be activated or is invalid." When I click the check mark, my computer locks up and I have to reboot. I don't have any problem with my key when I install just ASA. I did a search for an answer but didn't see anything. Sorry for all the questions...AS6 has been put up for over a year now and I'm relearning...In graphics I set up my own themes and save then..Then load them to FS9...But then never show online flying..i know this because I always choose the sky sets that are very purpleish,and at sunrise and sunset they are not showing,Just yellow and bright....What am I not getting...Thanks....
