Guys, I have been a huge fan of Active Sky and have bought all 3 releases since I started simming Obviously I am now using ASA (FSX) I loved ASX and never had much issues with it (a little erratic wind changes sometimes) My issue is that with ASA I am getting severe wind changes a loft .... I mean really erratic, so much so that my plane is continually blown of course etc ( I appreciate this can happen but I doubt to the extremes I am getting) Also when on approach I am getting winds from ATC and they match ASA but very often I seem to get wind shear or some really erratic effect that often pushed me to the ground. If in full auto land the plane will nearly always lo…

I managed to post in the wrong forum but here's a link to the screenies demonstrating my query.http://forums1.avsim.net/index.php?showtop...=0#entry1534549I really dislike the effect of less than 10 miles visibility in FSX, I have been blaming ASA until I realised setting the visbility manually had the same effect. Is there a way round it other than setting the minimum visibility to 10 miles?John

Hello after using ASA for a few weeks now, I was noticed that I was seeing a pretty substantial frame rate drops. I have FS locked to 40 fps and it usually sticks to this in all situations (using a high spec PC if left unlocked get 100-60fps in full weather scenarios) My frame rates kept dropping every 20 seconds or so, from a steady 40fps down to 20/17fps then back up every few seconds then a period of 40fps steady again. The displayed weather was never any more complex than with AS6 so I decided to try a flight with AS6 and it was perfect - a smooth 40fps the whole time, it did not drop below 40fps once even in complex weather formations. I then went back to ASA and saw…

Hello Support,It seems that I have a problem with ASA that I did not have before when I go to install graphics snapshot after the program has finnished setting up I get all thisSee the end of this message for details on invoking just-in-time (JIT) debugging instead of this dialog box.************** Exception Text **************System.IndexOutOfRangeException: Index was outside the bounds of the array. at ASA.ASA_WxInfluenced.AutoInstallXGraphics(InstallMode instmode) at ASA.Report_Control.btn_InstallXGraphics_Click(Object sender, EventArgs e) at System.Windows.Forms.Control.OnClick(EventArgs e) at System.Windows.Forms.Control.WmMouseUp(Message& m, MouseButtons…

Hi there, complete novice to ASA here :( I see when a route briefing is done an average wind direction and windspeed is shown.... now the questionIf it's shown as say 300 @ 28 knots does this mean it is blowing at 300 degrees @ 28 knots OR does it mean it is blowing at 300 degrees to the general course?eg if one is travelling at 120 degrees it's a 28 knot headwind or would it be 300 degrees to the direction of travel? (60 degrres from the left)Then one has to work out (simply) the general headwind/tailwid.Sorry to ask what seems to be a stupid question but being new :( one has to if never used before.I do get flailing winds at times but have not patched yet, waiting fo…

I have installed Windows 7 64-bit beta using the "upgrade" option over my Vista 64-bit installation to see whether it would fix the black screen problems with the PMDG (it doesn't). So far as I can tell, everything still works fine, EXCEPT ASA - which crashes nastily (I've had a couple of BSODs) or won't start. This is the RTM version of ASA: I haven't installed the ASA beta update.ActiveSky X, however, works fine.Obviously as Windows 7 is still in beta, I am not complaining: just giving a heads-up.Tim

Howdy, Cody from Jaggyroad Films. Purchases ASA last night and was testing her out until I took to bed. I primarily purchased ASA in order to use some of the very well designed, but severely unused gliders in my FSX install.First of all, I noticed when I set thermals to schematic, in almost all circumstances they appeared rather far apart. I didn't try any dusk/dawn settings, but would these conditions create more thermals? Can I get a bit of advice on when is a good day for thermals? Now, for the big problem I am having. Ridge lift for me appears nearly non-existant. With winds coming off my right wing at 15 knots, and a nice sharp ridge off my left wing, I notice no disc…

Hi Jim,As I previously communicated there appears to be issues with the temp depiction in FSX. Specifically, I noticed that if I leave my aircraft at MUMZ for several hours, even overnight, the temperature per FSX "drifts" from the temperature reading in ASA by not an insignificant amount. For example, after leaving my aircraft at MUMZ overnight and checking the temperature on the aircraft to that in ASA I noticed a difference of 10f. I have read other posts with similar temp issues. Is there a way to program a solution that the temp readings per FSX are exactly that of the nearest station in ASA, adjusted for altititude of course?ThanksJohn

HiI went through several FS9/FSX installations and now ASA want delete the visibility layer in FS9. When I check or uncheck it nothing happends. I tryied cleaning all hifi registry keys and reistalling ASA but that didnt help.Btw my FS9 installation path isnt the one by default but D:\FS9. Maybe ASA just doesnt find the textures.Anyway, can I manually replace the visibility texture in FS?Tahnks!

If this has already been covered, I apologize. I scanned through several pages of the forums and did not see my particular issue addressed, so here goes. I have noticed while using ASA with FSX that even though I have set the options to refresh the weather every 20 minutes, ASA will frequently be using weather that is up to an hour old.I have tried changing the refresh period, with and without VATSIM weather, it doesn't seem to help. I am completely stumped and was wondering if a fresh set of eyes might be able to help me out here.Another thing I noticed, and it's a trivial thing, is that every time I start ASA, the "Cancel" and "Save and Apply" buttons are illuminated in…

I have started using ASA (beta installed) and I'm losing my air speed indicator on many flights causing the plane to overstress and crash FSX. I suspect it has to do with the pitot icing up. How can I just disable icing? I have FSUIPC4 installed. Maybe I can just make sure pitot heat is on, but I think I would rather just disable icing altogether. Anyone else having this problem? Thanks.Barry

Just taken a daylight flight today, my first with ASA Build 355 and I hate to say it but I wasn't too impressed. This is on FS9.I had clouds going dark and light, suddenly appearing and disappearing and the cockpit of my PMDG 737NG flickering repeatedly. On a couple of occasions the instrument panel went completely black.I have FSUIPC 3.85, in ASA I have set DWC, visibility smoothing, only two cloud layers. Still it seems to be a resource hog and compared to ASv6.5 it seems to cause a good deal of stuttering. The depicted weather looked good while it was there but the clouds were flicking and changing so much that it was unrealistic.I hate to post such negative comments bu…

Hi guys, I'm currently running Active Sky Advanced with FSX (with Acceleration) and I'm getting frequent, instant switches between cloud formations. The "bad" formations in particular look like a bug rather than something that's intentional. The two images below were taken within a couple of seconds of one another and the transition was instant. Good Clouds:http://s120.photobucket.com/albums/o183/Pi...nt=fsscr001.jpgBad Clouds:http://s120.photobucket.com/albums/o183/Pi...nt=fsscr000.jpgI'm currently running an Intel i7 2.67Ghz, 6Gb RAM, Radeon HD 4800 (with latest drivers) with Vista Ultimate (64 Bit).Any help you can provide would be much appreciated because this problem …

I was wondering what the best/recommended way in ASA to use a flightplan, import textures, and start flying? I know we had a guide with AS6. FYI: I'm using fs9 with the latest FSUIPC and the ASA with the beta patch. My steps are as follows:-Start FS9 and create a flightplan using FSNavigator. -Exit FS9 and start ASA*. Import the new flightplan and hit process. -ASA gets the weather and asks to import some textures, which I say ok. I click the option to import the GE Pro textures as well**. -Start FS9 again, start the flight***. This seems to work well for me (honestly I've not seen many of the problems others have reported). However I do have a few questions (an…

Hi Everyone!First off thanks to HiFi for another terrific weather engine! I've use ASV 6.5 for a long time but I must say ASA has greatly improved the realism in FS9 through better turbulence, better overcast and cloud situations, and more stable winds. I have installed the beta patch but I am still having random cloud popping usually during climbout. My last two flights SDF-ORD and ORD-ORF have had cloud pops on climbout through FL110 and FL130. I don't have local suppression on and I am still not sure if I should have this on or not so any kind of detailed explanation of how it exactly it works would be great! My last question is in reference to turbulence. I have the u…

Flying into Turks & Caicos there was an error decoding the altimeter setting. Instead of 30.11 it set it as 00.30 inches. Of course that's impossible to set on an altimeter. Fortunately I was VFR and able to land, ignoring the altimeter. But the AP almost put me in the water... at 3,000 feet!

Hi,I am running ASA (latest BETA) on a Windows XP laptop, which is about 5 years old - and so it's not the newest model. On this notebook, which is connected to the flightsim PC via WideFS I ran also ASv6 in the past (and at least until the several issues are finally fixed I will use ASv6 at the moment instead of ASA). When I start ASA, the laptop is TOTALLY blocked for about 60 seconds. The starting screen is visible but I am even unable to open the task manager. After that period (it's when the progress bar starts to grow) everything runs smooth and I again can handle other programs in parallel. Also later on during program execution this phenomenon never appears again. …

Jim, what happens if I choose to open FSX or FSUIPC menu during the initial weather depiction? Will it have any adverse affect on the weather depiction consistency, textures loading etc.? Usually the weather depiction (Client / FS computer configuration) takes about 1 minute, so during that time I may want to change fuel load, PAX number or turn on VOX ATC and other module add-ons.Thanks,Dirk.

Hi there ASA I have just sent a help request via the site. I am popping in here because you might care to accelerate your answer ;) :( Look for a message from Chris Brisland - you'll understand why when you read it. On the other hand, I will also "rattle the cage" here as well - who knows? I am looking for a function in ASA that does the same as the "Install X Graphics Textures" in ASX - as far as I can see, the ASA method is only by using snapshots - and these are a lot more limited.So... if I am blind, please tell me how to install "WX influenced textures" based on an actual weather report?Thanks.PS...Build 316
