In the docs they talk about Global mode like its a setting that can be turned on or off, I know that if I turn on DWC Im in global mode, but I don't want to be in global mode I want to be in a station to station mode. So if I simple just turn off DWC am I in station to station mode or not??? I am a little hung up on the wording so if someone can explain to me how to be in station to station mode I would greatly appreciate it.

  5. I am having so many issues with ASE that I am questioning if it might be better to run without it at this point. It started actually with another post of mine about ATIS identifiers that automatically changed with every transmission - the offered solution was that it was an FS problem, but it is obviously not.FSX runs fine without ASE. But as soon as I run ASE and have it configure weather, the problems start. First clue is that the weather as loaded appears, then changes almost immediately. For example, if I load a single stratus cloud layer at 900 AGL, 1000' thick, ASOS tells me initially that the overcast is 900 feet and all other parameters are as programmed in AS…

To start with - I am running FSX on XP pro, all SP updates current on both FSX as well as my OS, and have Active Sky Evolution (just released - no prior install of ASX or ASA so it was a full install vs an update). The issue: ATIS (the generic FSX ATIS) changes it's identifier with each transmission, although the actual information itself (winds, altimeter, etc) remains unchanged. This problem only seems to occur when ASE is running. To illustrate an example, an ATIS transmission will start with "Information India", give the weather, runway and local NOTAM information, then start again with Information "Mike", then information "Sierra, etc. - every subsequent identifier …

I am thinking of reinstalling Radar Contact, I remember reading somewhere that the DWC setting of ASA/ASE was not compatable with RC. Can anyone comfirm this and should I use FSUIPC wind smoothing instead.Glen

  8. Started by Dicko,

Let me start off by commenting that in my opinion, HiFi produce the best weather engines for FSX with ASA better than REX in depicting accurate weather. The winds were an issue but FSUIPC seemed to control that to a point where I could confidently fly my PMDG aircraft without any S-Turn overspeed issues. I recently upgraded to ASE with the promise of a more accurate depiction of weather and a much improved and new DWC which had basically overcome some of the problems with wind shifts in ASA.I installed ASE, read the manual and trawled the forums for the best configuration for the program. I have spent a whole day testing and changing settings as per the recommendations fr…

The clouds in ASE are fading in and out constantly. There will be nothing then very smoothly a whole overcast layer will appear then after a few minutes it will slowly disappear. This happened yesterday from KMEM to KONT and is happening again today from KONT to KMEM. I went straight from AS6.5 to ASE I use FSX, Im using DWC, online updates set to 30mins (but have tried other intervals like 10min) no data and cavok set to 0, 15 set for layers and Prevent cloud redraws checked, and I file a route aswell. My fsuipc settings are reset back to normal defaults.

I have been searching for an aswer here, but unable to find a similar problem. So sorry if it has been up here before. As you can see here on this video; my ND is acting up , same with the IAS. I gues this is caused by the wind speed rapidly changing as you also can see.I have this problem with many other aircrafts in FSX as well. It happens only when I use ASA. My ASA settings:Has anyone else had this problem?I run FSX on Win XP/32-bit, ASA and an unregistred version of FSUIPC.Thorbj

  16. Greetings!I've sent the (long) message below to HiFi support via email. For the benefit of forum readers who are experiencing the same problem, and to collect more data that can corroborate (or refute) my findings, I'm cross-posting it here as well. I'm hoping it might be of some use.---------------------------------------- As you probably know, the HiFi Sim support forum currently has multiple threads describing a problem people are having with Active Sky Advanced: seemingly random excursions of the outside or total air temperature readings in mid-flight, resulting in intermittent engine performance degradation and an errant fight profile. I've been using ASA for…

A few days ago I upgraded from ASA to ASE. (Thank you, HiFi, for the free upgrade. I've been a customer since ASV, and it's appreciated.) So far so good, except that every time I launch ASE I have to click ok on the UAC warning. I didn't have to do that for ASA, so I'm guessing this can be finessed. What do I need to do?I'm running Windows 7/64. I know some people loathe UAC and disable it completely. I think it serves a purpose, so I don't.

I currently run ASv6.5 with the integrated graphics. Am I correct in assuming that the new ASE is only the weather generator and to get the better cloud graphics I would need to purchase X graphics as well?ThanksDave

Hello,I got ASE today and it works really well with my PMDG 747-8. I only did a short flight from CYVR to CYWG to try it out but many issues I found before seem to be gone except for two.#1 - I'm not sure how the winds aloft work in ASA or ASE (I mention ASA because I had this problem with ASA before) but very often what is showing on the ND display in the PMDG 747 is way off what is showing up on the "Report" page in ASA or ASE. Example: Wind on ND display says 289/33 and on the Report page in ASE it said 333/48. I did have the "lock to nearest station" checked. The plane did show up on the map and was moving so I assume ASE was communicating with FSX just fine. Upo…

With ASA, there was a trick that you had to use to get proper cloud rendering for some a particular problem. I can't remember exactly what the problem was because it's been so long, but the trick was to set 3 of the 4 cloud options (CAVOK, No Data, Cirrus and Stratus) to 0 and one of the four options to 1.If anyone knows what i'm talking about, does this trick still apply with ASE or can we use higher values for these 4 options now?Thanks...

In the past 24 hours I have made 48 posts!!If you think I have over-looked anything, please give it a bump back to the top and I'll return on Monday when I get home from work.If you have reciently sent us an e-mail I will still get back to those one more time tonight. So far it has been a pretty good experience, the last few days. It looks like the major things we were wanting to fix did get taken care of. We are keeping track of anything that users are discovering and we will work on a SP in the next 30-45 days. Thanks for your kind words and support where ever you have poste…
