Jim,I am confused about upgrade options for AS 6.5 users. Do we pay full price for ASE? Why would I buy ASA?Also I have an older single core 3.6 Ghz processor using only FS9. Would ASE overwhelm this processor?ThanksGreg

I'm using ASE and I like it very much. This post is to report that the message "FS location change or refresh detected... resetting depiction processes" is sometimes displayed insistently causing a continuous download and processing of the weather file. What does the Refresh AI Aircraft button do? When should it be pressed? Does it need to be pressed often or is it a "As needed" thing?ThanksJeff Calder

Ok, I cannot ever see the "depiction" lit at the bottom of ASE to show me it is importing into FSX. I also can never get flightwatch to tell me my destination wx. The steps I use is, I start ASE, go to the briefing tab, type in my flight plan, hit process. It asks if I want to load a snapshot of graphics which I dont so I hit cancel. Then I start FSX. The weather is showing in FSX but when I go back to ASE, hit the refresh button, I get at the bottom, Download active, then synthesis active, then nothing! I never see depiction lit at all. I also when tuning to 122.00 never get the destination weather, just whatever station I am closest to. What am I doing wrong?

I just started ASE to verify some settings and to take captures of those settings for future reference. I changed one setting (thunderstorm CB, from unchecked to checked) and saved. Then I went to the main page and then I closed ASE. Just downloaded ASE as I was an ASA customer and I just tried starting ASE for the first time, although it's stuck at the stage that says, "2:28 PM - Downloading global weather data for 4/5/2010 9:28:30 PM (21Z) from Secondary Server..." and it wont advance past that... can someone let me know what I need to do to get this to work?JB

On the Historical weather tab under online dynamic data you have the option to select GMT or LOCAL time to apply. If you select local it uses GMT time for the incorrect hour. For example I selected in local time of 06:00 and hit apply. On the main screen switching between local and gmt it showed local pc at 0:00 and gmt at 06:00 instead of local at 6:00 and gmt at 12:00.It seems to work correctly when using GMT on the historical tab but seems the button for local does not work right as it still is thinking your using GMT instead of local. Finally took the plunge and bought FSUIPC 4 registered version for FSX having used it in fs9 and prior for many years.Finally worked out how to get the vis options to appear in the FSUIPC menu by changing the relevant setting in the .ini file.However, the vsibility settings have no effect on FSX weather with ASE running or even without it (tried the vis graduation and the max surface layer vis settings and neither work).Am i missing something on getting FSUIPC, FSX and Simconnect to talke together? Are there any problems with UAC/running priority of the various applications?Have made sure I hvae checked the boxes in FSUIPC to allow it to "change FS own weather"Any ideas

Bit the bullet and now own ASE. Will use SimConnect. I hope this stops my freeze issue. Quick question for anyone having ASE. If you want REX2 Extreme to create the clouds, what do you have to do in initial set up? Do you have to deactivate any graphics function within ASE? If so, how?In Active Sky 6.5, you had to disable ASG. I did a fast look over on the ASE GUI, and could not find anywhere you'd disable the internal cloud graphics. When I use ASX for a weather program and X Graphics for texture, this what always happens. Even though X Graphics may show a theme such as absolute, saturation, default, etc. a theme called custom is always loaded into the sim. After setting a texture in X, I download the weather using ASX. , enter a fightplan in ASX. Right after ASX says the plan is okat it asks me if I would like to install X. I answer yes. No matter what them is specified in X, custom is installed. If I don't use ASX for weather but instead use FSX or the Internet the texture theme in X is loaded into the sim. Hello,I've finally got my visibility limits, smoothing and graduation set to a level that I consider as perfect as possible through the use of FSUIPC. With a lower vis limit of 25 to about 15000' then a graduated vis to the upper limit of 29, the sim shows a smooth and graduated change from the lower haze into a good clear distant view when up at a flight level, keeping smooth horizons all the way. Just wondering if FSUIPC's vis limits will override the ASE ones or vice versa? What I'd ideally like now is to completely disable the ASE visibility limits setting if possible so that it won't interfere with my holy grail FSUIPC setup! Hi all,I had everything running OK, both FS9 and FSX with a Vista system. I had a crash with Vista and pretty much lost everything. So I'm up and running again, only this time with Windows 7 and fresh installs of both sims.I have AS6.5 for FS9 and REX for FSX. I'm pretty much happy with AS6.5 but REX gets on my nerves. It updates during flight and makes my screen flash and I think it's a burden on my system (specs below).My question is: Is there a weather program that does both FS9 and FSX in one shot where I don't have to mess with things or is the weather in these sims that much different that a separate program is required? Hi,I am having problems with the weather in ASE not matching what is shown in the sim, most often the altimeter and winds. In fact, the altimeter in FS does not match what is reported in ASE about 60% of the flights I have done so far. I have tried for the last week to get a correct altimeter for KVCV, and could not get a correct reading in eight flights. I have tried both with and without a flight plan in ASE. It never changes from 29.92, thought the activity log in ASE seems to proceed to completion. The cloulds and visibility seem to update OK (I have left the sim alone for approx. 10 minutes each time to see if the altimeter eventually updates -but it never does).…

I've been getting a warning sometimes when I open ASE. I never got it when using ASA, and I even tried setting my computer clock back a minute, and still got the message. It says: "Over 3000 data reports are being ignored due to their date/time stamp being too old. Please check your computer clock - it may be set into the future. You will need to restart ASE after changing your computer clock. This message will be surpressed for the remainder of this session."Any thoughts?Bill

Hi,it would be nice to have an option to suppress the initial weather download. If you fly most of the time with historical weather it saves a lot of time at startup.Kind regardsWolfgang

Hi,I have just purchased ASE. I have read that, in order to use the screenshot feature, I need to have ASG installed (I am still using FS9). ASG came with the same package together with AS6 (bought it long ago). My question is: can I leave both AS6 and ASE there, or I need to uninstall AS6? I am afraid that if I uninstall AS6 I also uninstall ASG automatically...Thanks

Hi,In the briefing screen, when you add a Flight Plan to your route, it calculates pretty much all values right, however, the flight plan I'm tring to add, was generated by FSBuild and it seems not to include the 'correct' TAS, so I always have to change the TAS value from 120 to 529 (TAS 529 is about Mach .80 from FL280 to FL400)My question is: Can I change the 'default' value from 120 to 529 somewhere? is this an FSBuild or ASA/ASE bug?Thanks,
