Hello,Before I bought the product I wanted to see if I could get a few questions answered. I am a real-world pilot and use FSX primarily for instrument work. I do all my flying on the sim in IFR conditions. I am more into realistic details than I am about eye candy. I want something that is going to provide me with the necessary realism I need to practice IFR flight.Questions:1) Does this product provide a good simulation with IMC conditions? (Does it lower visibility in clouds so that the cloud isn't 2D like the default clouds in FSX, where you flight through it "instantly?"2) I have FSUIPC 4 and have the severe ice mode allowed, will ASE recognize this and allow for sev…

In the last two months, everytime I start Active Sky, I get the message "AS has updated your FS wx station list file." I am then asked to reboot FS if it is running. I see no evidence of any wx station list being updated. What is causing this and is there a way to get it stopped? ASv6 stll is working fine, but this is a bit annoying.Thanks.Roy

Say we have an airport with elevation 2,000ft AMSL and I'm inbound for an instrument approach descent for it.Its METAR reports 5000 visibility and BKN010 OVC030.For FS9, is ASA forming the cloud base at 3,000ft AMSL (as it should since METAR gives height above airport) or at 2,000 ft AMSL ?Also at which altitude will the visibility go down to 5,000m; below the base of the last cloud layer (i.e. once I descend below the above mentioned BKN) ?

Ever since I have installed ASE the "initial depiction" has not completed - this happens now in ASE and ASA. The weather changes at my startup location to match the report, but I never get the "Complete" message, that I previously got using ASA (although I had only done a few flights on that before ASE came out!!)...Any suggestions welcome.. ..G

First, please pardon my ignorance...I uninstalled MSFSX due to it's high demands and re-installed FS9 which I can run "full tilt" with everything to the right. I just got ASE, having never used AS before at all. I read through the manual that came with ASE (actually printed it out for quick ref) and have dinked around with settings - which was my first mistake. So here's the scoop...An example is today - here in Tucson it is VERY IFR - completely overcast, grey, windy, raining and can barely see the Catalina's on the other side of the street. So I fire up ASE with KTUS as my starting position and then FS9. When I hit the tarmac ASE says it is loading the weather and then …

Hi all, first thanks to the HIFI-Team for the upgrade ! I have ASE installed (without ASA) at Win7 (64bit) and FSX.Now there are 2 problems, which I never saw at ASA.1. I still have the time-error, which is reported already before : Warning ! Over 3000 data reports are being ignored due to their data timestamp being too old. Please check your computer clock. It may be set into the future. You will need to restart ASE after changing your computer clock. This message will be suppressed for the remainder of this session.2. I can't…

When ASE works, it works really well.Today, at 8:30 GMT, I performed a short flight from Palermo (LICJ) to Catania (LICC).I found the perfect storm and visibility, turbulence, depiction, correspondence with the radar, etc., were perfect. If HiFi is able to eliminate the random bugs, it has come to the weather engine "definitive".Very very very nice.Congratulations

Is the green update message supposed to be only shown the first time ASE connects to FSX? or should it also be comming across the screen when it updates. Im using it across a network but Im still finding that it is not updating along the way. For example I took off from cyhz today and landed at cyyz, the wind and altimeter at cyyz were not correct, instead in was showing the same conditions as when I departed cyhz. And no matter how many times I hit the refresh button it would not display the correct wind and baro, but if I shut down fsx and ase and restarted it will load the weather fine, Im at the point now where Im just about ready to give up on this program.

HiHave anyone experienced connection problems between ASE and FSX on networked computers?I have some issues with ASE and FSX over my network that is abit strange. At the first startup of ASE on my client, I load a flightplan in to ASE, starts FSX on my server and everything is just fine. But if I close ASE or FSX they do not re-connect again if I restart ASE or FSXWhen I use FS9 (WideFS) no problem, so I think this problem has something to do with Simconnect SP2.I have to restart both computers to get them to re-connect over simconnect when I use ASE and FSXclient;winXP 32 SP3, ASE B566, wideFS, Simconnect SP2server;winXP 32 SP3 FSX/FS9, Wideserver, Simconnect SP2thanksRei…

Installation seems normal except for the black box that is supposed to be the XGuage. I'm not sure what's supposed to be there instead of the black box, but it's there in the front view (partially masked by panels)every time I start FSX and load a flight.

Can I remove ASA and ASv6.5 and do a complete install of ASE? I'd like to know if this would help any possible problems I might be having with ASE. Where might I find the full version of ASE? I assume if this will work, I can plug my ASA key in after install and it'll work, even with ASA and AS6.5 uninstalled?FWIW, I still had the cloud popping issue on a flight from TNCM to TNCC last night. My high-level cumulus clouds were finally gone and other things seemed better, but since some are reporting no cloud popping, I'd like to try a full install without ASA or prior versions. Thanks

When I ask ASE to interface with xgraphics, it goes away and builds as many random snapshots as I ask, which is nice..)It doesnt seem to respect the settings I set in xgraphics regarding which textures xgraphics is allowed to replace, which wasnt so nice..(Perhaps it was just me, but I had to go back and reload the aircraft lights textures to get my Duke landing lights back.Could HiFi confirm how this is supposed to work, and if it doesnt indeed respect my Xgraphics settings, perhaps it could in the future..?BTW, I "upgraded" from ASX to ASE and it is night and day better...wish I had gone to ASA earlier...) ..amd great customer service to get such a substantial upgrade a…

I tend to fly mainly VFR at lower altitudes when flying with ASE and FSX, something around 5-6000 ft. When I take off the wind is always very accurate with a couple of degrees, taking in account of the earths variation. As I climb above say 3000ft the wind speed is picking up in line with what is displayed on the report page of ASE. Then after about 10 to 15 miles from my departure point the clouds flicker and the wind suddenly returns to a ground level wind i.e. it will change from about 12knts to 1 or 2. This happens every time I fly low level if I use DWC or not and today it was about 90 degrees out from what ASE said it should be.I am using a network with the clie…

How does ASE choose which category to select a weather-influenced snapshot from? Clear weather is obvious, but how does it choose between rain, stormy, overcast, and IMC when all of these conditions exist? When is universal used?Having just purchased REX 2, I'm trying to figure out the best combinations of REX textures to use with the different ASE weather-influenced snapshot categories. Previously, I had just used the auto snapshot extended integration feature with ASG.Thanks,Don S.

Hi all,Since the latest build is working perfectly, I would like to ask if it is possible to add some new stations in Greece. Vatsim has already included them in their metars. These stations are LGIO, LGTG and LGST.Are there any specific things you need to know about these station in order to include them in your server or you can take the data directly from VATSIM metar?RegardsChris

Hi there, I've been using ASA and Flightsim Commander with FSX with no problems. Tonight I installed ASE and FSuipc 4.6a and now Flightsim Commander can no longer connect to FSX. I was using the previous version of FSuipc with ASA and FS Commander. I thought that might have been the culprit so got the latest version but to no avail. Any ideas. Thanks.PerrykNever mind. I ran FS Commander as Administrator and it's working fine.

I run ASE on a network, wondering if all my problems are to these missing entries.

Hi , I have installed ASE, after the news of the free upgrade, as I had ASA already, but not used for a while. I entered my serial and everything seemed to be fine, but its been stuck at the downloading page at "FSX connection established" for 90 minutes now. Npt sure wether to start again or what. Can someone refresh me as to procedure? Do I start FSX after ASe, or before ? and if so , at what point in the loading procedure ? Cheers, Mark

Jim, or anyone else that can answer my question. I have ASE and a full registered version of FSUIPC. I noticed in the past you could not host an MP session and other people join because smoothing etc was handled through FSUIPC. However with the new ASE there is a note that MP issues should be solved by letting ASE handle the wind and visibility. In the notes it says to make sure ASE is running before you start your session and that those option be enabled. I did exactly this as a test run and had a friend try to connect. They could get into the lobby of the session but when they clicked to join the flight their sim gave an error with can not connect, and some sort of netw…

IMHO, the only real improvement to asv6.5 vs. ASE is the improved smoothing, both horizontally and vertically. You can not create a service pack for asv6.5 with only these improvements? Thanks
