I've successfully installed ASA into my Win7 machine. One problem I've discovered is that when I click on the change flight plan button the window won't open on top of the main screen. It definitely is open but I can't get it on top and I can't minimize the main window!

When flying a flight plan with asx the temp will be for example -22 and then all of a sudden will shoot all the way up to +44. Why does it do this? I'm following the flightplan loaded in active sky. Any help is always much appreciated

  4. Hi,I have a question on setting weather in timezones. I am (physically) located in Sydney, Australia which is GMT+11 as of today. If I am flying in my morning but my sim flight is in europe the weather that gets downloaded is weather in the middle of the night for Europe. It's really confusing! Example:- my local time is 8am AEST = 9pm GMT. If I run ASA then this is the weather that is downloaded, i.e whatever the weather in London (say) is at 9pm the night before. - now say that my sim flight leaves at 11am.- the weather that I now have is wrong for my sim time as it is weather for 9pm not 11am.So how can I get ASA to download the weather for the correct sim time of my f…

Good Morning All,I recently purchased a competing product for cloud and water textures, which included some runway and taxiway textures, without realizing that you have Graphics X. I have read the info on it on the website, but would like to pose a couple of questions about it here. I have used AS in various versions for quite a few years and really like the program, and currently use ASX in FSx. The reason for my interest in Graphics X is the integration possibility. So, there are some 'holes' in my information about the product, thus this thread.1) Do your water textures allow for very calm conditions ('glassy' water) up to quite choppy (inland) or large swells (ocean) …

Is it possible to use AS6.5 for both platforms? If so, can someone please provide some insight into how to set it up?I currently use AS6.5 for FS9 and ASA for FSX, but after a number of weather shifts and temp changes that have resulted in crashes, I'd like to try AS6.5 in FSX as well. Thanks!

Gentlemen,Currently upgrade from XP to Win 7. With the Win 7 installation I installed FSX on its own drive. After installing ASX and all updates I am getting this error when trying to listen to the 122.0 ATIS:20:34:17: Cannot add to voice script list as file cannot be found: "C:\Program Files (x86)\HiFi\XEngine\ASX\Voice\Voice2\-.wav(Error) Source =" in two instances. When listening it no longer calls out the closest station like it used to.Any ideas?

Started up ASv6.5 about an hour ago to prepare for a flight, and it is hanging on "Calculating Closest WX Stations". Tried several flight plans, with same results. Tried to force primary or force secondary servers with same results. Is something wrong with the current_wx_snapshot.txt" or the download from the servers? Had problems getting TOPCAT program to read weather data from Active Sky as well, and that's just the weather and no route information. Never had this problem before and no system or hardware changes recently. Current weather is showing as 031653Z.Tim

I have read several things relating to this over the weeks past and although there does not seem to be a fix, I am putting in my two cents as it is a problem. It happens on every flight and enough so that it is becoming increasingly bothersum. As of yet it has not happened during an approach but only in level flight. I use FS9, and real time wx and have tried everything so far that has been suggested w/ no positive results. I can only leave it up to the experts to maybe pin it down. Still a happy customer....Vincent :(P.S. I have both Active Sky 6.5 and X.

Jim et al,I remember in ASV 6.5 we had the option to suppress updates below xxx feet. While it was not perfect it certainly helped. How do we get similar functionality like that with ASA. It seems like for me, without fail as I turn base for final after a 6-10 hour flight ASA kicks in and I am forced to do my final approach and landing in a stuttering choppy mess. Last night I went so far as to just shut ASA down 5 miles from the threshold because it was destroying an otherwise enjoyable flight. How do I force ASA not to depict anything in FS while I am say below 5000 feet or within xxx miles from final? Even better is when you are looking at the wxr report in ASA and …

Here in Prague (LKPR) today we have beautiful weather. Sun is shining, clear blue sky, but quite enough snow on the ground and strong wind. So the metar contains DRSN - drifting snow. But what does the ASA engine do? DRSN = Moderate snow, so there's terrible blizzard, slippery runways and overcast. Drifting snow means it remains below 8 feet (2 m) so why it's decoded as Moderate snow? It's totally something else. Yes, it's not so usual weather but today I had to switch ASA off because it was as real as blizzard in June in California... :(

Hi Jim,I haven't posted much lately. We've visited about this problem before and I've not had time to contiune with finding a solution. I am running FSX in Vista 32, ASX on another machine with Vista 64 using Simconnect. I have FSUIPC (payware version). This problem only occurs at KDFW, the default location for my FSX startup. The surface winds at departure are "as advertised", but as I climb into the Flight Levels, the winds aloft start to diminish and eventually will be zero. This will last for about 100 miles in any direction and then the winds will start correcting. The correct winds aloft are showing in ASX. The cure is for me to go into FSX Weather and chec…

Why is it that every single long haul I fly has a cloud layer right below the plane at FL 350? It is like the cloud cover follows the aircraft. In all the real world flights I have done I have never looked at the window at FL350 and seen us in the clouds or with clouds right below the AC. I am just curious why ASA always has this upper level clouds and how do I get rid of them..Thanks in advance,-P

Hello,I would like to offer an apology to the entire HiFi Team for the reason listed below.I reinstalled FSX and all my addons (numerous times) due to hardware/software upgrades, in an attempt to get the very best from FSX. I installed HiFi's ActiveSky Advanced upgrade from AS 6.5. I forgot that I asked for and received a refund for ActiveSky Advanced some time ago, due to issues I was having with the product. So I have been using this product without paying for it, although it was not done intentionally, I find myself in an embarrassing position of using software I did not purchase, for that I apologize.Although I am able to again purchase the upgrade option, I have pur…

Hey Jim I am struggling to either understand or get the historical function to work right. Here's what I am trying to do. I am trying to recreate a flight I did in real life earlier this month but am having a hard time getting the historical to match up with what I actually had. I did a flight from Rio SBGL to Sao Paulo SBGR on Jan 5th 2010 and landed at what was 10:30pm local time in Brasil or 6:30pm local time in Dallas Tx. I want the weather to be what it was at 10:30pm in Sao Paulo when I landed there. So what I did was go into the Historical menu and selected Jan 5th 18:30 local since where I was was 6:30pm local where my computer is, and hit apply. Hi Jim,I am now in an FS9 reinstallation process and I 'd like to know whether it is necessary to reinstall ASG together with ASv6.5. I am asking that because I have got ASA SP1 (upgrade from ASv6.5). And, is it necessary to follow the full reinstallation sequence from base ASv6 up to build 552, or just the base and the final ASv6.5 ? As there is a long queue of updates for ASv6.Thanks,Sotiris.

The following appears in the ASA instructions:Note: Minimizing/disabling turbulence effects can also reduce or eliminate wind shift issues within FSX itself, which may reduce the need to use ASA's DWC feature and the need to use Global Weather Mode (with the potential negative side effect of improperly depicted wind directions and speeds).Does this intend to indicate that the "negative side effect" tends to appear with or without DWC?

I just got AS6.5 for use with FS9 and am much happier with this vs. ASA.Anyway, I use WideFS and run AS6.5 on the client PC. I have ASG setup to automatically send the "Weather Influenced" textures to FS9. So, with FS9 shutdown, I download the weather, then import/process my flightplan.Question: At this point, I believe that the textures are being sent to FS9, but how do I know when this is complete and it's safe to start FS9?As an example, when in ASG, and you select "Send to FS" there is a nice dialog box that pops up and shows the progress. On my system, it probably takes 20 secs to complete. So, back to my question, maybe I should wait about 20 secs? Thanks,James
