The AVSIM Screen Shots Forum

Have a favorite screen shot of your simulator that you would like to share? You can by posting it here.  Please follow image posting rules (below).  Images must be hosted on an image hosting website. Please use prefixes to identify the simulator you are using (see pinned topic for guidance). Please include information about the screenshot(s) such as location (flight plan?), the aircraft, weather engine, scenery (i.e., Orbx/FTX, GEX, FSDT, FlightBeam, FlyTampa, etc.).

Screenshot Image Posting Rules

  • Images must be hosted on your own image server site, such as Drop Box, Google Drive, Photobucket.com, OZx Image Hosting, or a website that you own.  See guidance at following link - http://www.avsim.com/topic/479802-how-do-i-post-a-screenshot/
  • Images can be of any size; however, be considerate of your fellow AVSIM members as large photos will take longer to load for some members who do not have fast Internet connections.
  • Images will automatically be resized to fit the viewer's screen width. This process is done automatically by the AVSIM website program.
  • No more than 20 images per thread (topic). Moderators will remove any image that exceed this requirement.
  • AVSIM members are reminded of the AVSIM Terms of Service in respect to images, and copyrighted and intellectual property. Images that violate our policies regarding copyrights and family safe environment will be removed and, depending on the severity of violation, user suspended or banned from AVSIM.
  • Images copyrighted on other websites such as Airliners.net are not allowed and will be removed immediately.

Left Baltimore on August 28th for Chicago, then Denver, then to Oregon, winding down the 2022 Indycar racing season. Here two weeks and a day later finds me in Southern California. Here are some photo memories of the trip, which will continue back to Denver, then Indiana for a Saturday college football game, then finishing the trip with a morning flight to Baltimore to arrive in time for the Baltimore Ravens - Miami Dolphins game next Sunday. The Hjet has been richly rewarding as well as the scenery. An incredible value for the price! (Click images for larger views) Late afternoon over Lake Michigan, Chicago coming into view. Starring your paint @Ron Attwood - take a bow! (If you guys don't own the Carenado V35B - you should - it's an awesome rendition of the V tail and completely opposite of their disaster of a release, the PC12) Ron's paint: https://flightsim.to/file/39517/bonanza-v35b I flew my V tail Bonanza from 42B, did a touch and go at KPVD, and headed to Hyannis KHYA for a full stop. I love this livery and I love flying this area just south of Boston, MA. The East Haddam swing bridge actually swings in the sim, and the quaint little 42B scenery is a great place to start (or end) any GA trip. Over the west coast of Norway with downloaded Ortho. Looking West towards the sea. Dull under an overcast layer. In the distance the sky can be seen clear, but the sea/sky horizon is very realistically hidden in haze. another view to the West. Where the overcast layer ends, broken clouds can be seen. Patches of low cloud/haze over the sea hiding the horizon. heading north, closer to the clearance in the weather. Mountains in the distance suitably hidden in haze. Some small patches of cloud center right low over the mountains. Over Scotland heading east towards the morning sun. Two layers of clouds, a lower…

  10. Just had some moments of bliss as I climbed out from Amami Ōshima and the first rays of sunlight hit the cockpit. And as I headed south towards Okinawa, I was again struck by how beautiful this sim can look. Not completely related, but apparently the concept of ikigai is held to be the reason why Okinawa boasts the longest living people on earth. The ikigai principles comprise “an intersection between 4 distinct elements: what you’re passionate about, where your skills lie, how you can earn a living and what the world needs”. Not a bad code to live by.

Just on a quick flight from Manila to the Calapan Community 67nm south. Forecast was overcast with low cloud coverage so I didn't expect much. I was wrong! Even overcast conditions can look gorgeous when the light is right. Just wanted to share it, what do you think? '

A bit more playing around in XP12. These are with Orbx TE UK in place (but possibly not the correct place - I haven't gotten back into setting up the scenery.ini file properly yet - just dropped a few symlinks into the folder). Takes a bit of getting used to flying in XP again. I prefer the "flying on rails" approach of MSFS with all the easy options on as I have no great desire to pretend to be buffetted about by the wind/rain/atmospherics etc - I mostly just want to focus on the views and the scenery. A flight from EGLL across London down to Southend. Lots of EGLL itself seems to be missing, but that may be my scenery ini setup. Also not sure how much of the city i…

I'm loving this early release so far! The lighting is great. The weather is great. Seasons are great. The new aircraft are very nicely done. Even the new autogen-based scenery is very sold (I'm sure your mileage will vary depending on the availability of accurate OSM data). Overall, I think it's a great release and to think it will continue to improve for a number of years just like Laminar did with XP11 is fantastic. Here are a few shots of flying around KJAC in snowy weather (and yes, you can see snow hit your windshield... and breaking action sure suffers according to the level of snow and/or ice in the weather settings). This las…

  17. [In my recent posts, I've explored (and illustrated) several heavy freighters (e.g., from Boeing and MD), the freighters being a subject-matter of interest to me since my earliest days of involvement in this hobby. Today, I explore this subject further by looking a bit into two Airbus Freighters. If you're not an Airbus "Pro", which I'm not either, I hope, you enjoy these pictures or/and the notes, below...] First, the A300-600F (= A306F), is/was a classic (and a remarkably popular) freighter, that was derived from the base Airbus A300 model. Of course, the A300, itself, in its own right, is a classic too, the first ever Airbus, the one that not only gave Airbus its …

  25. In my recent posts, I'd explored and illustrated a couple of heavy freighters, the 767F and the 777F. However, the story of freighters would not be complete without an honorable mention of the MD-11F. Compared to its predecessor, the DC-10, the MD-11 was an advanced and impressive a/c indeed, with modern avionics, new engines, redesigned fuselage, and for the first time a 2-person cockpit (both DC-8 and DC-10 had required 3 cockpit crew). And from an (aviation) enthusiast's perspective, the (Trijet) MD-11 is/was visually quite striking too. However, MD-11 never became popular nor successful as a passenger aircraft. Any remnant chance it had for continued success as a (lon…
