Screenshot Image Posting Rules
- Images must be hosted on your own image server site, such as Drop Box, Google Drive, Photobucket.com, OZx Image Hosting, or a website that you own. See guidance at following link - http://www.avsim.com/topic/479802-how-do-i-post-a-screenshot/
- Images can be of any size; however, be considerate of your fellow AVSIM members as large photos will take longer to load for some members who do not have fast Internet connections.
- Images will automatically be resized to fit the viewer's screen width. This process is done automatically by the AVSIM website program.
- No more than 20 images per thread (topic). Moderators will remove any image that exceed this requirement.
- AVSIM members are reminded of the AVSIM Terms of Service in respect to images, and copyrighted and intellectual property. Images that violate our policies regarding copyrights and family safe environment will be removed and, depending on the severity of violation, user suspended or banned from AVSIM.
- Images copyrighted on other websites such as Airliners.net are not allowed and will be removed immediately.

This is what I like about the sim. I don't personally care about how to fly any plane properly, not my thing but all power to those for whom it's important. What I like is being able to pop into my own private F117 and go and scare the good folks (pixels, really) of Colorado if I get the urge. So I headed out from KDEN, planning to head north briefly then fly back down over the city, and then just generally head south for a bit. Because I can. Downtown in the distance Don't know about invisible to radar, but it's pretty hard to spot visually in most cases. I suspect there's a lot of the same reasons at play there - irregular lines and angles etc no doubt fool th…

Over Cleveland today just as Oscar Gonzalez launched his Wildcard Series game-winning walkoff HR. The Hjet so quiet that at FL370 we heard the crack of the bat and the crowd going crazy..... (Ok! Ok! Yes, we were watching on my cockpit iPad, LOL! Reallly was the position of my flight at the time!)

In my previous post I'd illustrated the (Douglas) DC-9-20, with an objective to explore the two a/c manufacturers of my Title,...both companies legendary, but now left with no trace of theirs to be found in the (commercial) passenger (air) transports of today...dominated by A- and B-...if, however, history were just a bit kinder to DC/MD, there could be, now, at least a type of (big) DC (or MD) "twin" long-hauler jets roaming the skies today...indeed it was close...(see below)... Douglas (maker of many iconic a/c, and a company that had introduced more successful designs that fought wars than any other manufacturer) became McDonnell Douglas in 1967, and 30 years late…

I wanted to see if I could follow a flight that departed KLAX. I could but didn't follow all the way as it was just a test. But it was fun.

Flight from Edinburgh to Glasgow. I didn't take the most direct route and made a few circles in the sky above some places before arriving at my destination. The weather was a little more difficult at the start than at the finish.A flight that ends well. I will take the opportunity to compliment Daniela Rodríguez Careri for the sounds design. My god ! After having cut the engine of the 172 and after opening the door I was swept away for a quarter of an hour by this incredible external environment. Simply Magic!

[Aviation history is saturated with tales of remarkable a/c, and also remarkable incidents...small and big...tragic and uplifting...well-known and forgotten. And the internet is an incredible resource and treasure-trove of such stories and events. While lately reviewing a bit, the history of Douglas and McDonnell Douglas companies, one thing led to another, and I came across a little (RW) aviation incident that occurred back in the winter of 1973, in Norway, on the ice-covered surface of Oslofjord bay, roughly 5 miles west of (current) Oslo Airport (ENGM), off the (now decommissioned) Oslo-Fornebu Airport (FBU/ENFB) ...] The DC-9 was a trend-setter a/c... a truly pio…

I thought there was to be 2,000 of separation in the upper flight levels. This was more like 1,000 ft of separation. I had to act fast to get this screen shot. I was at FL360 with a GS of 400 knots in the Hjet. Did not quite see what the other type was, but man was that a super fast closing speed. First time I have had this close of an encounter. His path seemed the exact opposite of mine and it was not on a published airway. I was going direct from SPI to IRK. I am not sure if the current WT G3000 provides audible TCAS alerts.

I woke up far too early for a Sunday today, so I decided to jump in the Sim and simply fly with no planning or ages spent in the World Map trying to find somewhere (it's a bit like Netflix at times!). I just immediately picked Lausanne, headed South with no particular destination in mind and it's moments like this where this Sim can truly shine. You tend to forget the grievances, issues and schoolboy annoyances of Asobo and just enjoy the flight. This one started off in fairly overcast weather, got a bit sunnier as I crossed Lake Geneva and where I'd usually head SW and up through the valley into deepest Switzerland I decided to turn East and head towards Geneva instead…

A few pics of my recently installed the Porter PC6 from Milviz, bought during their flash sale @ 30% off. Quite a fun plane to fly, and one where you need to be careful with the engine so as to not blow it. I'm liking it 🙂 Cheers Pretty sparten in the back. Lots of nice gauges at the front end.

Historically I'm more of a virtual airliner pilot, but these days I am racking up hours flying in Alaska on my NXCub. I took off from Chunilna Cabin Strip (AK98) to the Stampede strip. Nice trip, quite abrupt transition on the ground between normal and snow textures, but great great weather and clouds. I did encounter a small difficulty at 6000 feet when I got too close to the clouds. Icing started to cover the windows and wing edges. I had to quickly descend to 3000 feet while turning on the cabin heat. Intense and immersive, even if icing conditions could be more punishing.

Once in a blue moon, I find a really neat little scenery (outside of where I typically fly in the US). And then naturally I have to do a flight. Today I downloaded this lovely airfield called Voeltendorf: https://flightsim.to/file/41048/load-voeltendorf-airfield I wanted to experience arriving here so I also bought LOWS Salzburg from Digital Design. I think there are one or two more options but this one looked the best to me. It was about 17 USD on Contrail app. Regrettably I have zero clues about flying VFR in this area, if it is even allowed or not. But I did stop at the contact ATC line LOL! So here you guys, a rare Eurotrip for me flying the Just …

Here I am again in this incredible atmosphere. This time departing from Leeds Bradford with a northwesterly direction and of course a return to the starting point. The weather was again difficult and the challenge was up to it.I even scared myself with this change in visibility but I took some risks at low altitude to admire the effects of colors and some beautiful rays of light. I also installed ShadeX with small adjustments.

I was reading, today, a bit about "Payload vs. Range" optimizations, and I've (occasionally) mentioned, before, how the a/c manufacturers, at the request of operators (or of their own accord for market needs) often bring out newer (stretched or shrunk) variants of their already deployed aircraft. This is because it's (likely) easier (speaking, here, naively, of course...), for the manufacturer, to build from a proven (and field-hardened) model rather than start with a clean-sheet design e.g., a stretch will be achieved by adding extra plugs to the existing fuselage, but much of the design (systems and flight controls) etc. can be carried over. For example, compared with t…

I think, those of us, who have migrated to MSFS, have our fair share of now surplus aircraft in our old FS9/FSX,P3D hangars. And at least for me it's a pity that I can't use them anymore in MSFS, unless I port them over myself. This Convair is such an example. It's the FS9 Tom Gibson, Greg Pepper aircraft, which I had to convert first to FSX, before I could port her over to MSFS. The panel is from the Razbam Fairchild Metro. And for copyright reasons, I will of course keep this bird strictly to myself. It's not perfect (how could it), but it's different and above all, its fun to fly and most of the gauges work 😃 …
