Screenshot Image Posting Rules
- Images must be hosted on your own image server site, such as Drop Box, Google Drive, Photobucket.com, OZx Image Hosting, or a website that you own. See guidance at following link - http://www.avsim.com/topic/479802-how-do-i-post-a-screenshot/

Images that violate our policies regarding copyrights and family safe environment will be removed and, depending on the severity of violation, user suspended or banned from AVSIM.
- Images copyrighted on other websites such as Airliners.net are not allowed and will be removed immediately.

Hi, every time the sim runs I see this cool building, the yellow one. Can anyone tell me where it is? I'm sure it's in Canada and I would think it's an ATC facility or even a terminal? I like the way it looks so I was curious thinking I could go there in-sim and take a look at it. Many thanks. Jack

[Aviation is more than plane and place, it's also a most remarkable conglomerate of human elements of endeavor...of despair and failure and of triumph and success...sometimes under incredible stress...! Here is a fascinating (RW) story I'd once posted about, a long while ago, and wish to add, here, a 2nd perspective to it, via a simple (and novice) experiment of my own, from our virtual world. As the RW events had unfolded, two lives, that of Air New Zealander (DC-10) Captain Gordon Vette, and that of a retired US Navy pilot, Jay Prochnow assigned to deliver a Cessna 188 AGwagon from the United States to Australia, would be intertwined...two individuals that had never kno…

The Title sounds a bit like a James Bond sequel, but it's not.... In my previous post on Bonanza Air Lines, I'd noted that the airline was a "local service" carrier in the West Coast and had started its operations by transporting passengers from towns in the state of Nevada to the Casinos and Hotels of Las Vegas. I'd taken (piloted) a trip in a Bonanza plane, with the possibility of striking a Bonanza...maybe, in one of those locations...🙂...though, in RW, I do not recall any such luck during my couple of visits to Las Vegas... (the word Bonanza being explained by the Dictionary as "a situation or event that creates a sudden increase in wealth, good fortune, or profits") …

While exploring the DC-9 (for one of my earlier posts) and noting the fact that DC-9 was a clean-sheet design from Douglas, I came across another fact, I was aware of before, that, B727 was derived from the B707. Regarding the linkage between the trijet short-haul (domestic) B727 and the quad-jet long-haul (transoceanic) B707, I'd somehow thought 727 was a smaller scale version of 707...not really so...at least dimensionally speaking...e.g., these two following measurements caught me by a bit of surprise. The 727 was actually a bit longer than the 707 (727-200 at 153 ft 2 in vs. 707-300 at 152 ft 11 in). The 727 and 707 fuselage widths were nearly identical (~…

This post is triggered by a bit of (aviation) news, I read today, "This week, on Wednesday, Oct. 5 (2022), Atlas Air took delivery of a Boeing 747-8 Freighter (Reg. N861GT). This unit is the second of four new 747-8 Freighters ordered by the Cargo company in 2021, which are also the last 747s ever to be produced by Boeing, putting an end to the "Queen of the Skies" assembly line.... after 54 years and a total of 1,572 units produced (including prototype) ..." This means Atlas Air just took the 3rd from the very last 747 Jumbo ever to be newly-built, with just two more 747s to go...(and in fact when the last two 747s are built and delivered by the end of this year, that wo…

MSFS This is the fictional KLVB freeware from IniBuilds, Venice Beach. It's very detailed and cool. It reminds me of CyberPunk 2077. Anyway, made a nice flight in the Kitfox from Parallel 42. Now over KLAX which is just a few miles away.

Where it all began. I miss this airport. Made a nice flight to Midway with the FSLTL traffic running. My plane needs a bath! "Hey! Where's my in-flight peanuts!?" "Where's almost there for Pete's sake!"

I pick up, here, the rest of my flight, from the vicinity of Mt. Shasta (see the first 3 shots, below)....then, onward, in a Hughes Airwest Fairchild F-27, to KLMT (Crater Lake–Klamath Regional Airport). Past Mt Shasta, all the way to touchdown in KLMT (ILS RWY 32), see landing shots, my en route pictures are taken also with the same type of Fairchild F-27 a/c, but in the color of Hughes Airwest, sporting the distinctive all-yellow scheme, for the company whose slogan was (fittingly) "Top Banana in the West". Hughes Airwest had operated 34 Fairchild F-27 turboprops till 1980, concurrently with B727 and DC9 jets. Hope you enjoy this collection of pictures of this cla…

First of all, by Bonanza, here, I do not mean our much-adored Beech Bonanza (nor the much maligned but classic V-Tail...), but I'm referring to "Bonanza Air Lines"...a little-known (small) local-service carrier that operated for over two decades in Southwestern U.S. (and Mexico), in the 50s and 60s, and actually, has its entity been dissolved into today's Delta Airlines...! I knew of Bonanza Air Lines before, but was (indirectly) led to it today, via a freeware repaint of a "Pacific Air Lines" Martin 404 (see the first shot, below). Years ago, while visiting the Airline History Museum (Kansas City, MO), with the (primary) intention of touring the Lockheed (TWA) L-1049 exh…

(I continue here from my Part I post...) .... Tromsø lies in Northern Norway, 217 miles north of the Arctic Circle. The city is named after the island of Tromsøya, on which it stands (see my top-down image, shot #6, below, for this island). Tromsøya (island) is connected (on the west) to the nearby island of Kvaløya by the Sandnessund Bridge. On the top-down view shot, it's the thin line, you may spot, just to the west of the Airport, across the waters of Sandnes Strait. This Sandnessund (cantilever) road bridge is also seen in several of my pictures, below. And, towards the south, Tromsø is connected to the mainland by the Tromsø Bridge (and the Tromsøysund Tunnel), whic…

Hoping this doesn't confilct with the "no war/combat" thing. I'd been hoping someone would do this for MSFS and it's here via the Marketplace. Couldn't comment on its veraciy/accuracy/flight model etc. Works for me though - bought it, selected it. start on runway, RTFM? what FM?, hit the gas and away it went. Flies just the way I like, didn't have to worry about any controls (although second time out I tried the parachute brake on landing and that worked fine - surprised myself there). I'll see if there is any documentation and read it later. For now, it's just a blast to zoom around at 400 kts at tree top height or close. Haven't been using the sim much of late, too…

This is what Wikipedia has to say (abbreviated by me): Peenemünde is a municipality on the Baltic Sea island of Usedom. In World War II, the area was highly involved in the development and production of the V-1 and V-2 rockets. German scientists such as Wernher von Braun, who co-developed the V-2 rocket, were known as "Peenemünders". The resistance group around the priest Heinrich Maier passed on plans for the V-1, V-2 rockets, and the Peenemünde research station to the Allies. The resistance group was in contact with Allen Dulles, the head of the US secret service OSS in Switzerland. The allied bombers were able to carry out precise air attacks with the sketches of the p…

I had recently posted an account of a (DC-9) flight, in Norway, from (ENGM) Oslo to (ENTC) Tromsø (if you wish, please see my earlier SAS DC-9 post). Norway is one of those fascinating Scandinavian countries (on the top of the list of countries for me (yet) to visit, at least per the preference of my better half...🙂...we'll see...). The DC-9, I'd shown there in that post, and also shown, here, as shot #1 below, had the Tri-Flag (underbelly) Striped livery that includes the flag colors of the 3 countries (Sweden, Norway, Denmark), symbolically represented on the a/c, in this same order, making up the (composite) (old) SAS Airlines identity. In that livery, Norway flag's "r…
