Hi everyone,I just got some rotary switches from all electronics and am wondering how I could hook them up. Here's a link to the product page:http://www.allelectronics.com/cgi-bin/category.cgi?category=700425&item=RS-129&type=storeI just tested them out and as I figured, they didnt work as a knitter rotary.(I could wish, right:)) Anyway, when you hook the middle two leads up to a multimeter and twist the switch it steps down each click with a drop on the multimeter. It basically has 6 different outputs. Anyway I could interface these? Not a biggie if I can't, I only spent a buck for 5 of them. I can post pics of the inside of a switch if anyone is interested.Thank…

Hello all builders,I saw some cheapy Thrustmaster rudder pedals (Rudder Control System) available from auctions. They are all using game port. My question is, will this old pedal work with windows XP system? will they be detected with a generic driver come with XP? It seems like a good unit for converting the real things for sim. Please comment if anyone has related information. Thanks a lot.regards,Alkit

Thought I would share with everyone a few pics of my A320 Project. I recently began retrofitting my cockpit with the new FDS ELITE panels. The Glare and Pedestal have been converted. Overhead panel still to go. A giant leap in overall quality. My building approach generally has been to complete the sim structure and hardware first. I will then interface all the systems and subsystems. Also shown are a couple of pics of my projection display system.

I found a web site where a guy made his own 737 throttle levers and stuff and even posted the autocad files for them.I can't find the site anymore and I didn't save it. :-(Does anyone know the site I'm talking about? The guy milled all the pieced out of aluminum and everything. If anyone knows which I'm talking about, please let me know.Thanks,-Allistah

I've just started my 737 cockpit and have been thinking about the throttle pedistal. I've looked at numerous pictures of real 737 throttle pedistals and I always wonder how they have the insides of the throttle levers set up for the reverse thrusters. Now I know that I can figure out my own way probably but I'm really curious to know how they do it in the real thing.Does anyone have any pictures of the insides of those so I can see how/what the reverse thrusters do inside when the levers are pulled? From the looks of the pictures it doesn't look like theres much room for leverage or anything so I'm wondering if its a small gear in there or something. At any rate, if any…

  8. A question formed in my mind from reading and commenting on a recent thread involving the use of older software or more current software in your sim project. What is the proper order to settle upon, build and acquire components, software, hardware, etc.?The pioneers of this hobby were the ones who cleared the forest, fought off the indigenous natives and built this hobby. In the language of sim building, they often designed alone and spent good money to purchased prototype hardware and software. Sometimes they were stuck with older less useful software and components. Those who are new to sim building owe them a debt of gratitude and can learn from their experiences and…

Hi,I have an AMD 3000 system running an ATI 9700 (AGP) card. I installed an old MAtrox Millenium 4MB (PCI) card to run a second monitor, however FS2004 gives an error upon start-up that 3D Hardware acceleration has been dissabled. FS runs, but without any 3D Hardware support or full-screen mode. Frames rates are very poor.Am I doing something wrong or must I purchase a card capable of running 3D, 8MB, DX9 (as per MS spiel on the matter). Thanks.

Well... my wife finally put her foot down and I have to get rid of some stuff :-([http://67.170.8.23/aircraftparts]I'll happily trade these parts for anything 777. (We just won't tell my wife that more parts will be arriving.. :-) )Or... if you would like to make a small donation to Ray's sim project fund, that would be OK too...The web pages will open numerous windows.. sorry.. I threw this page together in a hurry.. no time to clean it up.

I recently received panels from AGT (advanced graphic technologies). The problem is...how does one connect any of the displays to the panels? I have made all of my 8mm circuit boards and have gotten the displays to work, but how do you fit them to the panels without destroying the panel itself? I really think I should have bought my panels from FDS. They have a backplate that I would imagine is for this purpose. Milt

My question is which one, I dont care what it looks like or if it has amazing features just so long as it flies well and does the basics. I seem to remember a 737 pilot did one a few years ago for 2002 but I cant find it now, so need a new one for FS9.Suggestions guys?ZK-SHBIf it isn't Boeing, I'm not going.http://www.737simbuilders.com/

Hey, I'm brand new to this forum. Just found it and it's awesome. You guys/girls have tought me lots already. Here's my question.Where can I find accurate measurements?I am going to build a 744 and I want it to be perfect the first time. Actually when I'm done, I dont even want a real 744 captain be able to see the difference.I'm starting with the pedestal. From my understanding it is constructed the same way as a stereo rack, where there are tracks with screw holes to hold the panels in place. I am not buying panels yet, but I want to build the box itself, as close to real as possible, and I run into problems on the measurements, because the panels I see are different wid…

I have simple versions of my B737-700 annunciators as a 3mm thick perspex, cut to 1/2 inch by 1 inch, with a flattened LED superglued on the back. I have printed labels glued on the front. I made about 40 like that.I would like to make them more realistic. I like the idea someone had of using cut sections extruded aluminum, filled with hot glue gun material, and an imbedded LED.Does anyone have an accurate dimension of a standard 737 annunciator? - Or a pointer to a supplier's tech spec page? I am interested in the Width, Height, and how proud they sit from the overhead panel. (in millimetres if possible)Thanks,Ken.

Hi,I'm programming with VB for my avionics and I could get all the reading from FSUIPC except 1, the APR indicator on the autopilot. For example to get the HDG indicator I used the following:FSUIPC_Read(&H0C78, 4, VarPtr(tmp), dwResult)FSUIPC_Process(dwResult)aa = Hex(tmp)If aa = 1 Then txt_tmp = "HDG" Else txt_tmp = ""print txt_tmpFor the APR, in the FSUIPC doc the address for it is 0800 (Autopilot approach hold),I'm I using the wrong offset? If so, which is the right one. Thanks for any help.Cheers.Michel

Good day all, Alkit had a great idea with documenting all the flight sim builders in the world. At the same time, I have been working on a web site to hopefully automate the process. It's a web site, where you can log information about your project, and a running tally is kept of all entries. There is also a search box where you can select to view only specific information. This site is not only meant to track builders, but also companies, software, electronics, etc. This way, the site can work as a simply history book of who, what, when, where and how our hobby progressed. Everything should be functional on the site except the log in page. If you need to change …
