After analyzing some available products for connecting pushbuttons, switches and Knitter rotaries I finally come to conclusion that the best and cheapest solution is to buy ten inexpen-sive (8 USD each) Game Pads (each with 10 buttons), remove their electronics and connect all of them to USB hub. This way I can connect 100 (or even more) buttons or switches to USB port. I can even have autofire for repeating :)These buttons will be directly visible to FS2004 or FSUIPC as buttons. No keyboard emula-tion is needed.Did any of you tried this solution? I

Hi Guys, I could really use the help of anyone here who has experience with LED's. Lacking knowledge of electronics, I've researched enough where I feel comfortable experimenting with/blowing out some LED's. I'm at the point where I'm moving ahead with my main instrument panel and would like to begin working on some of the areas where backlighting will be needed. After reading though some information, I have a few questions. Can all the resistors be placed on a breadboard and then have wires running to the LED's where they will be located? If so, what are typical guages for the wire? Also, I understand the following equation "R = (12 - 3.4 - 3.4) / 0.020" 12 volts be…

I thought I'd ask the people that have 737 cockpits at home.. What software(addons to FS2004) are you using? I've already registered FSUIPC as well so I have that already. And FS2004 of course. :-)I've heard that the PMDG is great but there are limitations with the overhead panel as well as others. So what is the best 737 software to build a cockpit around? I want to end up with a functional overhead panel, glare panel, main panel, and pedistal. Is there software that will allow me to control all of these functions with hardware? I was planning on using the IOCards system. Thanks for any information anyone might have for me.

I don't know if it was asked before but it may be interesting to share which aircraft, freeware or commercial, the cockpit builders fly with their hardware. Especially those pilots having FSBUS, Opencockpits and similar freeware projects. My current setup consists of an MCP representing a B737-700, 2 Comm panels, 2 Nav panels, EFIS, and a transponder. I'm using FSBUS 2.2Personally I would LOVE to be able to fly with the PIC767 and PMDG737NG,but due to the limitations mentioned to another post I usually fly a merge of the FFX B737-400 visual model with a freeware panel and the airfile/FDE of the Dreamfleet B734.So, let's hear it. Be as brief or as detailed as you like.W…

Hi guys. Here are some photos to update you guys on my panel. Besides a few of the guages, everything else needs painting. The PFD and ND displays are not complete yet.I've still to add those parts where the screws are attached to give them a more complete look. Nothing is yet attached or fixed on a base. I'll be updating my webpage in the next few days. Comments are really welcome. Regards, Ricardo

I don't understand why Project Magenta is so expensive. $400 for a whole setup seems -way- overpriced. How is that affordable to the home sim guy thats trying to have a fun hobby?I could see if I was using the software to make money or something but its just an addon to Flight Sim.Anyone have any comments?

Does anyone know the angle at which the instrument panel rests for the 757/767? Phillipe's website http://www.CockpitDimensions.be.tf has it at 17 degrees for the 777.

Hello guys.. Does anyone know where I can find touch buttons, that with a small amout of pressure, it closes the contact??I don't know if I'm clear enough, but I do not want a regular switch, but one that with a small touch of your finger, it shorts the contact... Maybe if I call it a sensor switch, that shorts when sensing your finger, it's better, but it can't be too sensitive...If someone can send me a link with the datasheet of such, or maybe the product # at mouser.com, it would be very nice..Thanks a lotPaulo

Trying to pick the 'smoothest' and long lasting pot for my throttle quadrant. (throttles, speed brake, trim)Can anyone recommend a type that works well, without losing it's sensitivity or performance over time?

Did any of you ever used Alps rotaries - you can find them at http://www.elfa.se/en/ (search for SRBM1L).They are similiar to Knitter switches - generating pulseson one pair of contacts when turning clockwise and on another pair when turning counterclockwise.Because these switches are obtainable in Poland I'd like to know if they are OK (I'm planing to use them with GammaRay 256 board from Leo Lacava - Beta Innovations). Because I don't have this board yet I'm going to do some experiments with LPT-switch ora hacked keyboard. These switches are to so cheap (5 USD/one switch) but the prices drops down when you buy more than 10. I'm little afraid of wasting 50 bucks so your …

I've started working on my glare panel and want to incorporate the dual concentric rotary switches with push buttons on the EFIS like the 737NG has.Does anyone have any recommendations for the standard rotaries that are the best/easiest to convert over? If someone has had really good luck with a certain one, please let me know. I'd love to hear your opinions. Also, where do I pick up knobs for these switches once I get them made?

Hi ! I'm planning on investing in a "proper" Yoke/Pedals for my 737 cockpit project and am aware of the PFC Jetliner/Cirrus of course. I guess the PFC quality is well known. But I found a kit from Airplanestuff that looks interesting (http://www.airplanestuff.com/321.html)Price will be slightly lower (US$ 875 - 737 style), and to me it's a bonus having to assemble it myself (the building process to me is what makes this a great hobby), but havent seen this "in use" anywhere. Does anybody know if quality would be in the same level as the PFC stuff ?

I was wondering if the buttons on the 737NG EFIS/MCP are latching switches or not? As in, you push them in and they stay in until pushed again. Or are they momentary switches? I want to make sure that I get the right switches for my panel. In the real 737NG, are the buttons on the bottom of the EFIS panel illuminated like on the MCP panel or are they just black without any light on the button face? Thanks for any info anyone might have on this..

Hi all.I'm building the DISPLAY section of FSBUS, but I wish to build 2 different displays: 1 with FSBUS default led displays, 1 with smaller led displays.I bought the smaller led displays, but the pins are different than the default led displays: the smaller have the pins on the long side (getting counter clock wise and starting form the left: CC, F, G, E, D, CC, DP, C, B, A).I found some old post about different led displays, but the attacchments are no longer available, so I tried to design my own PCB (using the default FSBUS connection to the controller); but doing so, I will need 19 bridges (to much).Someone can help me (suggestion, links, or other ideas to fix the p…

You can already place your order to get the new Multiplexed Displat Card in www.opencockpits.comhttp://www.opencockpits.com/images/93070043b.jpgAs our previous cards, you can select among several possibilities: only the printed circuit board (PCB), the mounting kit and the complete finished and tested card ready to be used.Direct link for order : http://www.opencockpits.com/modules.php?name=get_iocardsiAnd prices : 14, 28 and 34 EUR.for connecting up to 16 displays through the master card bus. It's very useful to those who are building an Airbus, due to the possibility of defining special characters to be shown on the displays.Only need 7 common cables + 1 per Digit. you …

Hi - I just bought some wood and after two failed attempts am asking for some help. I intend to start my building process about six month ago. I that time I was able to gather some information from the A320project.com website for building the main/glare section and pedestal. I also found information for the stick console. Now that I started the construction process I cannot seem to find the diagrams for the main and glare section. I see the stick and pedestal but no main/glare section. Can someone steer me to the right direction? I will love to get some clear "blueprints" (diagrams) with the right dimensions (were to cut etc....) Please help!!!! Thank You.
