Not sure how useful this info may be, but just thought I'd mention it...July 2004's FlyPast edition has a couple of small articles in it which caught my eye, the first one being about some bloke who is collecting aircraft cockpits and converting them to simulators, using MSFS 2004! The second article was a brief look at the Boeing 707's first ever flight, and had a bit of useful info in it. I didn't know it was derived from the Dash 80!

Ok, with the initial questions out of the way regarding the needed hardware, I have a question that may seem stupid, but nonetheless: Are there any tutorials on, say, how to wire up everything to make a frequency display (say with a 5 segment LED display, a rotary frequency adjuster etc.)? I am not a novice in the world of electronics and I realize this will have a steep learning curve. Thanks,Pittsburgh

With older methods for makeing home cockpits (like EPIC and its EPL, or custom programming) the software works in an endless loop, so checks are done regularly.Does the CCC do the same?I mean:by CCC i define some complex OH control, which relays also on FS data, make it be a fuel tank being empty or not.Does CCC periodically checks this variable for changes?

Hi All, I have once before decided to start building my own home cockpit. For some reason, I never got started, but have now decided that it is time to do so. I am wondering if there are any starter kits with respect to the hardware needed for the receiving computer. I have read several sites and it seems that FSBUS is a good option for me. Can on buy the interface cards already made (I, unfortunately, don't trust my soldering abilities -- especially since these boards need to go into the computer)? Thanks,Pittsburgh

http://www.backoffice.be/shop/information....=533146〈=ukIs it possible to make this yourself ?Would be handy. If I chose to add the right seat to the cockpit I could just clone the display. No need for extra pc-power.Is it as simple as it gives the impression ? Just wire 2 monitors to 1 port in parallel ?

Hey allA tribute to the FSSIM world.I hereby post a couple of pictures of my homecockpit.Dualmonitor on networked PC's. FSBUS with 2 displaycontrollers, 1 LED controller and 1 digital input controller. The second monitor runs the FreeFD software - GREAT WORK THERE GUYS!!!I use 2 PC's. 1 P4 2Ghz with 512 DDR, 64Mb Matrox adapter. The other (that runs the FSSIM 2004) is 2,8Ghz P4 with 1Gb DDR, 128 Mb graphics adapter. It also runs FSBUS router, Project magenta sounds, and voicebuddy for controlling ATC, pushback and little stuff. The cockpit had to be in my office (we bought a house with a basement, but that's used for my homecinema), so it's not that big. Thanks for all your …

Hello to all!:-waveI'm using the FSBUS with Project Magenta. Although my setup is working very well sometimes I have some "ghost" keypresses especially in my FSKey (2) where the EFIS is connected. That keypresses are clearly monitored via FSBus Keytest and occuring every 2-3 minutes. This happens only when the Project Magenta Connected and not with the FS2004 standalone with fsbus. Even with the disconnection of Project Magenta these keypresses remaining and only when I reset OFF/ON PSU on FSBus will dissapear... I have tested also my pcbs for shorts..Has anyone the same problem.??Thanks in advanceThemis KatakalosAthens Greece

Does anyone know if you can run and programme the FMC via a seperate LCD touch screen in FS9? I fly the PMDG 737NG and would think it would be amazing to have the FMC 'by my side' rather than up front on main monitor. And by having a touch screen you could 'press' the buttons with your finger!Does anyone have any experience of getting this to work?I've searched the web and avsim forums and have found little info.I guess the touch screen would only need to be about 7" by 4" (18cm x 10cm) so I was wondering whether any screens were available this size and at what cost?If anyone has any info or websites then I'd appreciate hearing from you. Thanks very much,Phil.FlashFly.

I'd like this topic to be a listing of possible ways to make your own annunciators. My idea:plexy + inkjet transparency films printed appropriately. You do an image with photoshop or whatever, where you have your black box with your coloured writing on it (like green "LEFT GEAR") and print it on transparency, then cut it and paste it to the back of a piece of plexy. What do you think? These won't be P.Cos' Elite panels, but i think that they could be used for annunciators or very low cost realizations.

Hey Guys,I just recieved today a sample I wanted to test. Its manufactured by Bourns and the Part No. ECW1J-B24-AC0024.I've tested a few on the market and this has been the only one to work for me. Its a 24 detent encoder that works really well with REDec.Myself and another are going to purchase these encoders in bulk and wondering if anyone else would be interested. If so, drop me a line. These encoder are around AUS$4.80 ea.Kind Regards,

I have see some of cockpit builders using K'nex toys for levelers gears. So I thought, maybe I could try that too. I have visited several toys departments around my location, and cannot seem to find any of it. Would anyone with experience know which type of K'nex box or container can I find? if not, what may be the other option you think?

Hey guysStill haven't posted pictures of my progress yet - I will - I promise...I'm still too keen on adding stuff to FSBUS, but I ran into a problem. The generatorswitch and engine start switch are available in FSBUS, but in order to start the engines I also need the "cutoff - Idle"-switch to actually fire up the engine, but I cannot find the switch in FSbus. Can anyone help - PLEEEAASSEEEE?If I have to program it myself, I'd really apreciate a quick "howto" guide, as I have not done this before...Attached is a picture of the switch as it looks in FSSIM.Best regards Soren - Denmark

Today the Alps rotary pulse switches I ordered arrived (similar to Knitter switches - at www.elfa.se/en/ you can find them by P/N: SRBM1L or 35-884-64). I tested them connected to two USB gamepad buttons and to simple gameport interface. As an application I used Leo Lacava

Here is the gear lever compared to the real thing.Tnx to Claude Kiefer from the forum here for sending me this lever-weel tip.Nothing left to do but sand it a bit, drill a hole, fit it on a stick and make the mechanic behind the panel.TNX !http://users.skynet.be/plipke/PF50HC/tmp/DSCF0002.JPG

So I guess I'm still confused on what software I should look into using for my 737NG cockpit. Since PMDG won't work, what should I use so that I can make use of all the switches and stuff? I'm really curious about the overhead panel and center console, and the lights and switches on the MIP panel. If anyone has any suggestions for me, please let me know. I know that the PM software will take care of the displays, but does it do anything else other than just display what goes in the GC areas of the cockpit?Sorry if someone has answered this before but I guess I still don't understand what I'm going to have to do to get a full functioning cockpit once I get all the hardwa…

Hi guys, Does anyone here familiar with the EICAS Caution and Annunciator Panel on 757/767's or aircraft with a similar system help me with the following question.......do these annunciators, "Windshear", "Speedbrakes", "A/P DISC" for example simply light up when a condition exists and extinguish when the situation is resolved or the cancel button is pressed or do they have to be manually pressed to extinguish? I doubt the later, but can anyone confirm?

A few months ago there was someone here who made an exe with gauges, PM style but not glass cockpit.I would like to get contact with that person and discuss the option of having the F50 analogue gauges made in an external exe. This in order to have an easy time when FS goos to a new version.Any help on finding that person will be appreciated :D

Good day,I have noticed that the panels I will buy (including the real switches)are using magnetic switches. I think they are driven by solanoids used for the starterswitches or the autobrakes. Is it possible to drive this solanoids with FSBUS. Maybe there are some people using this output option.Regards,Boy Bruin

Is there a way to run Flight Sim 2004 on multiple computers and a single monitor? For example, have 1 computer process the panel views and the other only for the outside views to speed it up? This would help a lot until the P4 5 Gz machines come out!!! Thanks.

I spemd almost entire weekend building up autothrottle circuit. Now it's done. And I won't say its at 100 % completion until I get to do some testing first. Now in order for me to do some testing on autothrottle circuit, I would need to know what EPL code to write. Does anyone with EPIC USB know any EPL? Let start with this:#define FASTSCAN 0#define SLOWSCAN 1definemodule1,slowscan, 0, ###definemodule2,slowscan, 0 ,###Then what??Let me know

Hello everyone,I guess more than 80% of sim builders should check out this forum. I hope to build a simple cockpit builder database in this forum. Basic like "who is doing what type in where".Let me introduce mine first:Alkit Chan, Boeing 747-200, Hong Kong (www.alkit747.com)If you are building a generic cockpit not specific to a type, please put "Generic" or "Generic Jet 2" (two engine jet) or Generic Prop 1" (single engine prop). Please please sign up even you are in planning stage. If anyone do not want to disclose their real name, nickname or callsign are welcome.I hope my idea is not too stupid and hope all you guys would participate.Best regards,Alkit

Hi,i want to share with you, some pictures from my Efis & MCP, made with FsBus systems and thanks to Dirk's great efforts for his system (software and electronics).http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/76173.jpghttp://forums.avsim.net/user_files/76175.jpghttp://forums.avsim.net/user_files/76176.jpghttp://forums.avsim.net/user_files/76177.jpgToday i made my first flight with PM & Fs2004 with a full wokring Efis and an almost finished MCP. I need to solve why the F/D's led does not read from Pm's offset and to make the V/S wheel.Next will be the F/O's EFIS, a box for all of them, the radios, etc etc :-) When you have free time (and of course the money), in our hobby th…
