Hi everyone,Just like to share a idea,I didn't have the budget to buy IOcards and LED displays for now, so I build a switch panel to go on a monitor and develop a small application to show only the avionics display. I did it all with the monitor on the side. The program (in VB) display the data sideway. So if your on a tight budget it could be a nice thing instead of using a mouse and keyboard.Cheers,Michel.

Hi guys, In the past few days I have been brainstorming and looking at websites to come up with an idea of how to build my frame to hold the monitors and MIP. Having looked through simpit.de's measurements and a site with the 777 dimensions, I've concluded that the very bottom of the MIP is at an approximate 48 centimeter height. Is this about right? And if it is, how can it be, it seems way too low to me. Where is the leg room? That's just a tad over a foot and 1/2. Am I looking at this wrong?

Hello,I just present you the simulation of an ELT with the CCC of FSBUS.It check if one of the com are set on the emerg. freq 121.5 and ifthe intercom switches are on.Then if you switch on the ELT switch, you'll play a siren sound.BOBhttp://forums.avsim.net/user_files/78284.jpgThank's for your advise. For ex. is there an easier way to make the condition "if freq=121.50" than with 2 comparators and a value ?

Hey all,This past weekend, I took a 700 mile road trip to Philadelphia, PA to visit a guy I fly on-line with. While I was out there, on Ebay I found an old arcade game called 'Hard Drivin' and purchased it. Now that i have it in my possession, i'm having a real hard time deciding something. Should I keep the game 'as-is' OR convert it to a home cockpit for Flight Sim and how hard do you think it would be?Here are some pictures....http://sky.wspilots.com/Logo/harddrivin.jpg http://sky.wspilots.com/Logo/harddrivin1.jpghttp://sky.wspilots.com/Logo/harddrivin2.jpgAny thoughts would be helpful....And once you have tasted flight, you will walk the earth with your eyes turned sk…

Hi folks,I got a question to ask concerning analogue or pot. input.I have currently connected my 2 slidepots to a gameport. The result is a very unstable reading in FS. Even when changing to sheilded cable which improved it a lot, but not perfect at all. What can I do to solve this ?I heard that Leo's joystick input stuff works great and gives stable readings but to build one of those you must find the chip and then be able to flash it. Which is not what I can do.Then there is FSBus. I will have an fsbus interface but I'm not planing on using it. I switched to Photon and will go on with that. And I'm not willing to put that FSbus in my cockpit just for analogue input…

I've uploaded a revised version of my GA IFR instrument panel to the library. I've added a VOR / ILS instrument, and an elevator trim indicator. http://members.aol.com/rickalty/FSPanel.gifThis panel should be handy for anyone making a GA type cockpit, you can build an old laptop or a monitor into the pit and free up your main FS computers monitor(s) for view(s).As before, this can be run over WideFS by any computer capable of running Windows 95 and uses no OpenGL or 3D acceleration. I am running it on a PII 133 with 16MB of RAM and a 4MB video card.In 800*600 resolution, the instrument panel is full screen. Those who asked me for some other stuff like the radio panel... no…

Hi all,I have got the chance of bidding for some 737 cockpit doors. These come from a UK carrier and are part of an upgrade in respect of certain happenings in recent years. These come with door, door profile, locking mechinism and center pedestal button, these come as 'well used'.Regardless of cost I would like to have one of these for my sim, would anyone have any interest in these? also what price do I bid?As far as I can gather these are redeemed as a scrap item! however the company that they come from want to make the best return as possible.Any ideas or interest would be gratefully received.Regards [email protected]

I ahve completed my FSBUS units and am starting to build my first radia panel. What I am looking for is a set of knobs that can be used in the inner-outer configuration without being too overly large. Then inner knob would control the integer and the outer knob the decimal. I have looked all over and am not having any luck finding knobs that will work. Milt

Here's something different guys.........I saw this on the ramp at Terrace/Kitimat this morning. It's the last remaining Bristol Freighter in the world. http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/77761.jpgHere's a period picture of the plane that shows it better than my snap through the window.http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/77762.jpgRichard

Hi everyone,I will receive my first FSBUS hardware next week (maybe the week after next week) and I am already trying to work with the FSBUS router. Really great that it's so easy to program.I have a question about adjusting the servo or stepper. I mean, if I connect a servo/stepper to an instrument and I give the min. value and the max. value, what do I have to do to let the instrument run smooth. And how will the instrument find it's "0" point. I know that these are things that I have to find out myself, but I need to know what kind of problems I can expect. Is there somone who has the counters inside instruments working, like the 747-200 has a TAT gauge that's only indi…

Ok, since I don't have access to a milling machine for the time being, cos it's my old man's and the drive belt broke, does anyone know of a way of handcutting plastic? The type of plastic suited for handcutting would be useful too, but any type of plastic can be scored and snapped in half, but it's the internal cuts I'm concerned about...Obviously drilling holes is easy, but what about squared holes? Using a fine cutter on the milling machine makes this task easier, but since it's out of action, are there any ways of doing this by hand, other than filing? I'd like to be able to write stuff afterwards, so tiring my hand isn't going to help ;)Any suggestions? Wood may be ea…

Hi,i want to build an external FMC unit for my 737NG (PMDG) cockpit. That means, the input should be done via an external unit to the FMC. All numbers and alphabet signs are no problem, but the big problem is, that i have to make a command with the LSK Keys and the Menu keys? Is there a mapping available? Or is the only chance to get this working with key2mouse?please help!thanksgreetings Mark

Hi everyone,Has anyone used IOcard from www.opencockpit.com, it seem's to be a good product and at great prices. If I want to build a radio stack (Cessna 172) I was wondering how many 7 segments display I would need to control, since the the "1" in all NAV and COM display are always on, I don't need to hook them on the IOcard. Since a IOcard can manage 16 display my count would be;8 digits controlled by IO card and one digits always showing "1" for NAV1, NAV2, COMM1 and COMM2.5 digits controlled by IO for the ADF4 digits controlled by IO for the transponder. For a total of 25 digits controlled by IO, I would have to buy 3 Display cards because it can managed 16 each.I'm I o…

Here's the thing.I am currently programming my own Photon software. I have a question though that is probably exactly the same for FSbus and other systems. If you have a look at e.g. NAV1 freq.1**.**This is the "mask" for the value. The 1 in front will ALWAYS be there and the decimal as well. Now I would like to make these light up by default and not control them. The idea is to connect all of them to 1 led output from the print. Then I can turn on/off that "led" (being all the 1's and all the decimal simbols) at once. Is this possible ? And how do I connect those then ? Parallel ? And could it be assumed that this is possible or should I ask Scott from Photon ?
